How to tail log files from particular string
Hello,
We would like to tail several log files "live" in powershell for particular string. We have tried to use "get-content" command but without luck because everytime as a result we received only results from one file. I assume that it was
caused by "-wait" parameter. If there is any other way to tail multiple files ?
Our sample script below
dir d:\test\*.txt -include *.txt | Get-Content -Wait | select-string "windows" |ForEach-Object {Write-EventLog -LogName Application -Source "Application error" -EntryType information -EventId 999 -Message $_}
Any help will be appreciated.
Mac
Because we want to capture particular string from that files. Application writes some string time to time and when the string appears we want to catch it and send an eventy to application log, after it our Nagios system will raise alarm.
Mac
Alright, this is my answer, but I think you won't like it.
Run this PowerShell code in PowerShell ISE:
$file1='C:\Temp\TFile1.txt'
'' > $file1
$file2='C:\Temp\TFile2.txt'
'' > $file2
$special='windowswodniw'
$exit='exit'
$sb1={
gc $using:file1 -Wait | %{
if($_-eq$using:exit){
exit
}else{
sls $using:special -InputObject $_ -SimpleMatch
} | %{
Write-Host '(1) found special string: ' $_
$sb2={
gc $using:file2 -Wait | %{
if($_-eq$using:exit){
exit
}else{
sls $using:special -InputObject $_ -SimpleMatch
} | %{
Write-Host '(2) found special string: ' $_
sajb $sb1
sajb $sb2
In this code, $file1 and 2 are the files being waited for.
As I understood you, you care only for the special string, which is in the variable $special.
All other variables, will be discarded.
Also, whenever a string equals to $exit is written to the file, the start job corresponding to that file will be terminated, automatically! (simple, right?)
In the example above, I use only 2 files (being watched) but you can extend it, easily, to any number (as long as you understand the code).
If you are following my instructions, at this point you have PowerShell ISE running, with 2 background jobs,
waiting for data being inputed to $file1 and 2.
Now, it's time to send data to $file1 and 2.
Start PowerShell Console to send data to those files.
From its command line, execute these commands:
$file1 = 'C:\Temp\TFile1.txt'
$file2='C:\Temp\TFile2.txt'
$exit='exit'
Notice that $file1 and 2 are exactly the same as those defined in P
OWERSHELL ISE, and that I've defined the string that will terminate the background jobs.
Command these commands in PowerShell Console:
'more' >> $file1
'less' >> $file1
'more' >> $file2
'less' >> $file2
These commands will provoke no consequences, because these strings will be discarded (they do not contain the special string).
Now, command these commands in PowerShell Console:
'windowswodniw' >> $file1
'1 windowswodniw 2' >> $file1
'more windowswodniw less' >> $file1
'windowswodniw' >> $file2
'1 windowswodniw 2' >> $file2
'more windowswodniw less' >> $file2
All these will be caugth by the (my) code, because they contain the special
string.
Now, let's finish the background jobs with these commands:
$exit >> $file1
$exit >> $file2
The test I'm explaining, now is DONE, TERMINATED, FINISHED, COMPLETED, ...
Time to get back to PowerShell ISE.
You'll notice that it printed out this (right at the beginning):
Id Name PSJobTypeName State HasMoreData Location Command
1 Job1 BackgroundJob Running True localhost ...
2 Job2 BackgroundJob Running True localhost ...
At PowerShell ISE's console, type this:
gjb
And you'll see the ouput like:
Id Name PSJobTypeName State HasMoreData Location Command
1 Job1 BackgroundJob Completed True localhost ...
2 Job2 BackgroundJob Completed True localhost ...
( They are completed! )
Which means the background jobs are completed.
See the background jobs' outputs, commanding this:
gjb | rcjb
The output, will be something like this:
(1) found special string: windowswodniw
(1) found special string: 1 windowswodniw 2
(1) found special string: more windowswodniw less
(2) found special string: windowswodniw
(2) found special string: 1 windowswodniw 2
(2) found special string: more windowswodniw less
I hope you are able to understand all this (the rubbishell coders, surely, are not).
In my examples, the strings caught are written to host's console, but you can change it to do anything you want.
P.S.: I'm using PowerShell, but I'm pretty sure you can use older PowerShell ( version 3 ). Anything less, is not PowerShell anymore. We can call it RubbiShell.

How to delete archive log files from ASM through Grid Control
Hi
Anybody suggest me how to delete archive log files from ASM through Grid Control.
ThanksIt is important to specify both, the oracle version and os version when posting, so confusions can be avoided.
In this particular case, since you are referring to asm and grid control you could be talking about either 10gR1, 10gR2 or 11gR1; but I strongly suggest you to avoid us to be guessing. In either case, you sould go to the maintenance tab of the target database and program a scheduled 'delete noprompt obsolete;' procedure. This will purge the information stored at the Flash recovery area, which I assume you have declared inside the ASM.

How can I generate and/or retrieve log files from iPad
How can I generate and/or retrieve log files from iPad?
OBS!
There are NO files apearing in ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/<name of iPad> so where else can i find it?
I want to force it to produce a log, or find it within the iPad.
It is needed for support of an app.Not sure on porting out the log data, but you can find it under General->About->Diagnostic&Usage->Diagnostic&Usage Data. It will give you a list of your log data, and you can get additional details by selecting the applicable log you are looking for. Hope this helps.

How to view weblogic log files from a browser
Hi,
I am running WebLogic Server 7.03 on Solaris 8.
I have one Admin and multiple Managed servers running.
Each creates its own log file.
Is there anyway I can access this log files from the browser ?
In Apache, you can create a link from htdocs dir to the logs dir
and then view the log files from the browser. Is there a similar
mechanism in Weblogic server.
A quick response is well appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
-Anil VarmaIf you are on a unix system you can do something similar by making an open
directory webapp with symbolic links to the weblogic log directories. I suggest
that you protect that webapp with administration access only.

Open up admin console. Expand "Servers" node to view servers in domain.
Right click on a server (or select Logging/ General tab) and select "view

Our ECC Ides system today was not responsible. For first time 17 users were working on the systtem (IWN2008/SQL2005 based). Before the people were maximally 5.
The server is done by making a homogeneous system copy from an blade machine(now it is an VIrTUAL)
There was enaught disk space. However I checked Wokload 03sdn transaction) inn system. and found out that at that time of restarting(I had to restart system 3 times to get logged on the system and even then it was almost unresponsive.

How to store multiple files from SAp in to Application server?
Hi Guys,
Can anybody tell me how to store multiple files from SAP into Application server.in my application i have to get the data from SAP tables BSEG , BKPF , BSAK and BSIK that to daily i have to do.
Any Logic or Code for how to do is welcomed.
plz help me urgently.
Thanks,
GopiHi,
directories creates basis. If you have task to store data in application server you already should have information into which folder you have to do it. If you don't have this information because it is just for example training for next task then you can use your personal folder into which you have access. To get list of all available folders please look at attached code and form get_directories (you get the list of folders you see in transaction AL11). But don't forget: If you are using open dataset you have to have rights to access application folder!
Here you are code which I use to upload text files from local disc into application folder

Karol

M.AHi,
Basically, the process is of log shipping. Transferring logs from DC to DR system.
For that, you can check HowTo - Standby DB log shipping - MaxDB - SCN Wiki
This is script based. I have not done it but the idea remains the same.

How can I transfer files from my computer to my I pad ?
How can I transfer files from my computer to my I Pad?
Try a conduit such as Dropbox.
Goodreader or Documents to Go also have helper apps that allow transfers.
Goodreader is particularly good in that it has a integal file tree and you can mount your computers harddrive and navigate directly on your ipad.
Use the open with to view/move files into other apps. -

How can I convert files from pages 08 files without pages 09?
I am extremely dissatisfied with the latest iWork (13?) applications. My 2008 MacbookPro crashed on me, so I purchased a new 15" MacbookPro last month. Due to a known issue that prohibits my new Mac from being restored from my Time Capsule backup (thanks, Apple...), we finally got it worked out so that all my files were restored, but I had to reinstall my applications as I could find them. I had iWork 09 on my old machine, but it was from a family pack years ago, for which I do not have the discs. So, now I don't have Pages 09 to convert all my older files (I had no legitimate reason to convert my graduate work from 08 because it all worked in '08 and '09) so that I can open all my .pages files in Pages. Why would Apple make Pages that cannot open .pages files?! This is quite frustrating, and I'm hoping someone has an answer for how to convert .pages files from iWork '08 so that I can open them in the latest Pages without having to purchase iWork '09 (AGAIN!). Apple is really ramping up its leaving people behind...
Those are your choices.
Buy iWork '09 which is a good solution or somehow reinstall Pages '08 so you can export to Word .doc/x files.
We warned long and hard that not updating to Pages '09 would eventually lead to Pages '08 being left behind, although Apple was particularly ruthless the way it finally did it.
Also that anything using Apple's proprietary formats is going to end up with the same fate.
