How to test an image file existing or not

Hi Everyone,
I want to test whether an image file exists or not before setting the url of an image component in JSF to it. Following is my code:
File testFile = new File(image_path + "/p1.jpg");
if(testFile.exists()){
info("file exists");
}else{
info("file not exists");
this.myImage.setUrl(image_path+"/p1.jpg");
Althoug the p1.jpg can be linked to myImage, the existence test always fails. That is, I got the message "file not exists" even though it is already displayed.
What did I do wrong?

i am in an image uploading utility. i hav succesfully uploaded the image to the server directory (say /uploads). but when displaying the uploaded image, i wanna show the picture only if the image exits (bcoz for some records there is no image). so i hav used this code

Hi ppl,
heres my problem...im using servlets and jsp and i only ever want to access the jsp file from a redirect in the servlet. Problem arises however if the user trys to access the jsp file directly in which case all the relative links on the page are no longer in the same context as if they were accessed via the servlet.
i wanna have some kind of test on my jsp page which displays an error page if the user has access the page directly but im not sure the best way to go about this.
i was thinkin about tryin to determine if an image file exists using a relative link...in which case if the relative links where off then it wouldnt.
Any suggestions on the best way to do this...or if there might be a better way to test such a case?
any advice much appreaciated.

I would suggest moving all jsp's that you dont want the user to have direct access to under the WEB-INF directory. This way they would only be able to access it through your servlet.

So, i assume you want to change one picture. On Stage, i have edgeAnimate (an image), and
1) i am using the div tag.
So: sym.$("edgeAnimate").css("background-image", "url(images/myImage.png)" ); will change my picture.
Link: CSS properties.
More CSS:

Using a path variable:

I can add a class using Edge Animate user interface.
I choose one class name: "newImage".
So: sym.$(".newImage").css("background-image", "url(images/myImage.png)" ); will change my picture.
Note: I assumed you don’t need to preload your picture.

Spry:if image file exists?

Hi,
is there a easy way to test if an image file exists on the server? I try to generate dynamic html listing names and pictures. The names (and other info) arein a xml file. For some, images exist on the server as name.jpg file. I'd like to check with spry if name.jpg file exist and if take it as picture, if not use a general placeholder.

How is the XML-file compiled eg from a database or coded by hand
          I use both on my web site and It would be nice if the solution would work both
               - with a query send to our institutes phone book. Results are in xml format
               - and a local xml file, that has been edited by hand.
Is there a serverside program you use eg PHP, ASP, Coldfusion
          I can use PHP or javascript, but php does not work in combination with server-side-includes that we use on our apache web server. I'd prefer javascript, because those script run on any page, even if SSI is used.
Have you considered using an HTML table to retrieve the info instead of using XML
          No yet, because also the local xml file is basically identical to the query output. I just add some fields manually to the local xml file. (So I could add a "picture" entry, but this solution would not work with the xml online query).

It is written in php, which does not work with our server when SSI is used. The workaround is to include a html page generated by a php scirpt using iframe. How to change background image in existing template?

Current website needs overall change in background image which is already set in template. Is there anyone who knows how to change background image in existing templates?

Make a friend with firebug & you could find yourself from where it is getting applied.
For the website you have given the background image it is using is [1] and it is getting set in css of body tag [2]. So Find the css at [3] and modify it OR replace [1] with other image with same file name.

How to link an image file in code view

I can't seem to figure out how to link the image file in code view. It has to be in code view because the image is hidden in Design View so I can't do it in HTML view. Here's the coded section:

How can I detact a file (a jpg or flv) exists in a folder?
The script that I can think of so far is like this,

sounds more pricisely...
How can I check a file (a jpg or flv) exists in a folder?
for instance flash can check if there is an instance exist or
not on the timeline, for example a movie clip is called myMovie_mc.

This is checking the instance on the timeline... but what I
need is the check if a file (a flv file) exists or not in a folder
outside the fla file.
If that flv does exist in that folder ("videos" I called it),
then the flash will take some actions. if it does not exist, then
flash will do something else, like gotoAndPlay("default Intro").
It will be much appreciated if anyone of you can sort this
problem out for me.

How can I assign image file name from Main() class

I am trying to create library class which will be accessed and used by different applications (with different image files to be assigned). So, what image file to call should be determined by and in the Main class.

Your problem is one of timing. Consider this simple example.

How do I determine if a file exists or not on my PC?

I thought this would be an easy one and maybe I am just making it harder than what it has to be. I simply want to search in a given directory to see if a file exists on not on my hard drive. Are there any ideas as to how to do this without causing an error if the file does not exist?

Hi:
In those situations what I've done till now is opening the file
and close it inmediatly, if I find out and error while opening it
I guess it doesn't exist. I know this is not the best way since there
may be other reasons for the Open File Function to fail, but it has
worked for me. Does somebody know a better way to do it?

How can I test whether a table exists in a database before I execute a query? If the table doesn't exist, I want first create a default table with certain name so that I can always display something in JTable.

There are tow ways :
The first one is :
- load the list of tables of the Database in a Vector for exemple by using methode DatabaseMetaData.getTables () and you can test if the table exist or not in the vector by using methode Vector.contains(Object o).
The code seems Like that :
