    How to execute a simple JSP application in Oracle 9iAs WE?

    Please "Preview" your future posts. Your formatting is awful. Especially learn to use the [ code ] tags.
    Are you sure DateTime.Now.ToString() returns a string in the format of 'MM/DD/YYYY HH:MI:SS.FF3'?
    Fix that and if you still having the problems, debug the actual result of your string.Format() and post that.

  • Writing Session EJB or BMP access Oracle XMLType

    Hi,
    Has anyone sucessfully implemented EJBs with Oracle 9i new feature, XMLType
    object? The one criteria is to allow large XML document to be inserted or
    retreived. Large document means total characters more than 4000.
    Thanks.
    Danny.

    All,
    Forgot to mention that it's already configured using Oracle thin driver.
    As I mentioned before, the rmi exception is probably due to the dataLookup
    since it's not getting the connection directly from Oracle. Instead, it's
    calling WL's dataSource.
    How to figure out the casting problem??
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Danny,
    Yes, it appears so. Have you tried moving your classes12.zip (from yourOracle
    installation) before the weblogic.jar in the classpath? This should pickup the
    Oracle API before the WebLogic API and thus should work. Let us know ifyou have
    any further problems.

    I suspect it is trying to use Weblogic's CLOB instead of Oracle's.

    Hello Danny,
    Could you paste any exceptions or describe in more detail what
    "failed"
    means
    in this case? More information would be more helpful.

    Thanks Ryan,
    The example shows how to use JDBC connection directly. Another
    option
    is to
    use Weblogic's TX connection pool. In fact, I've tried this butfailed.
    The idea of using Weblogic's connection pool is to have Weblogichandle
    or
    the pooling and transction since the rest of app are calling it.Let
    me
    know if you have tried it with no error.
    Cheers,

    Hey Danny!
    To see how to access Oracle's XMLType via JDBC (which you'll be
    utilizing
    in your
    BMPs), refer to the following code example:
    http://otn.oracle.com/sample_code/tech/java/sqlj_jdbc/files/9i_jdbc/XMLType

    ample/XMLTypeSample.java.html

  • How to view sessions belonging to Premium Access Zone

    Hi,
       Can any one let me know how to read and run the sessions that are avaialble in
    the Premium Access Zone tab of SDN network?? When i tried clicking on the option "View Session" it does not take any action. Kindly help.
    Many Thanks,

    Suggest answer was in the right direction, but I needed to see a lock that was held for more than 30 minutes for a session that had expired. I found what I was looking for by navigating to Targets / Databases / dbname / Performance / Top Activity / View Data = Historical
    Then I dragged the shaded box to the time interval when the locking issue occured (clearly visible in the colorful graph showing the spike when the problem occured). This showed the session id and query that was suffering and I could generate an ASH report.

    Hi Ahmed,
    SM51 or AL08 shows in which Application server the user is logged in. But ST01 does not allow us to select or to specify the application server while tracing a user. Can you be a little more vivid. How do you specify the application server in ST01?
    Please help.

  • How to integrate Events from Siebel application to Oracle Webcenter portal

    Hi
    We have a requirement where one application resides in Siebel and the poral is running on Oracle Webcenter Portal. Here we want to see the events/appointment which are created in Siebel Application, should be visible in Oracle Webcenter Portal's calendar as soon as user logs in. It is a Hospital portal, and appointments are created in Siebel Application and when Doctor logs in to portal (running on Oracle webcenter portal), user should be able to see them on his Calendar/event.
    Please help me how to go ahead with it.
    Regards,
    Sid

    Hi All,
    Not sure that I agree with my friend Yannick on this. I think that you can change to point to a different DBMS. You might be able to do this by reconfiguring the Siebel server and give SQL Server as your DBMS and then give the correct SQL connect into. At worst case I think you can change the server data source named subsystem. You will need to change the DLL name and well as the connect info. If the reconfiguration does not work your best bet would be to compare the settings from your server data source for Oracle to a known good server data source for SQL Server.
    BTW, why would you make this change? As a database Oracle can’t be beat. 11g is incredible.

  • How to improve the performance of applications in Oracle Application Server 9i ?

    I have my applications deployed to Oracle 8.1.7 database using OSE in Oracle Application Server 9i. My machine has 256 MB RAM. It has both Oracle Application Server and Oracle 8i database server installed on it. When I try running my applications I find they are very slow. Can I get some guidelines using which I can better the performance of my Application? It can be in the form of code, memory ,disk space etc.
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards,

    The system configuration is more than enough to run java applications.
    You are probalbly doing time-consuming operations in the event thread. Which blocks the event thread and the gui seems not to be responding. If you you have a very bad design.
    Use a thread for time consuming operations.

    Hi Prasad,
    You can write normal JDBC code in your controller.
    Check this Web Dynpro Java
    You can use the tool for generating the classes from your DB.Check this too

  • 3rd party application internet connection issues

    I downloaded several apps from App World and all the ones requiring an internet connection fail to connect?  I have a 8330 with OS 4.5.0.77 on Verizon.  I can receive email and use the internet browser just fine.  Any idea how to enable the 3rd party applications to use the internet?  I have set the permissions for all the apps to "Allow".

    What are some of the apps that aren't connecting?

    Can you please tell me how to find if my SAP application  with oracle  uses Shared server mode or Dedicated server mode for oracle database access??
    regards,
    Arul S

    Hi Nick,
    Thanks for your reply.
    I am also pasting the output of "lsnrctl services"
    LSNRCTL for HPUX: Version 10.2.0.4.0 - Production
    Copyright (c) 1991, 2007, Oracle.  All rights reserved.
    Connecting to (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=IPC)(KEY=R1Q.WORLD))
    Services Summary...
    Service "R1Q" has 1 instance(s).
      Instance "R1Q", status UNKNOWN, has 2 handler(s) for this service...
        Handler(s):
          "DEDICATED" established:0 refused:0
             LOCAL SERVER
          "DEDICATED" established:269921 refused:0
             LOCAL SERVER
    The command completed successfully
    This looks like dedicated connection with the Oracle database..
    Can you please comment on this?

  • Tomcat servlet accessing Oracle ?

    Hi !
    Several java applications accessing oracle tested okay, but when I changed the application into servlets , put them into Tomcat and tried accessing same db-instance via a web browser, Tomcat has a lot of complains .
    It seems like the root cause is :
    "java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/jdbc/OracleDriver" .
    Can someone tell me what I might have missed out on ???

    Hi !
    Thanks all, problems solved.
    I needed to copy classes12.jar from $ORACLE_HOME/jdbc/lib over to my webapp directory.
    dgraham was also correct in pointing out that it won't handle .zip.
    I am very UNHAPPY to have to duplicate classes12.jar , once in oracle and once in webapp.
    I am trying doing some jiggery-pokery with Tomcat's classpath to get it to look at $ORACLE_HOME/jdbc/lib/class12.jar
    Could be something in Tomcat configuration ?

  • Connecting Java application to Oracle Database with JDBC

    How can I connect my Java application using Oracle 11g database?
    Please provide the steps involved along with the coding.

    What kind of Java application? Stand alone/desktop? Or web? Do you need dedicated, individual connections, or connection pooling for 10,000 concurrent users?
    You'll find a few clues in This Article [This Article|http://javawebdb.com/2012/01/30/connecting-a-java-servlet-to-a-database/]

  • How to trace an application in Oracle 10g

    Hi,
    I want to trace a complete application in Oracle 10g end-to-end.
    Here is the scenario,
    The are two systems:
    System A: Oracle 10g server
    System B: Windows server
    The application runs on system B.
    How do I trace the complete application in oracle 10g?
    I read about the trcsess tool but will like to know if there is a way to collate all *.trc produced by the application.
    Thanks in advance!
    -Thanks
    Karthik

    Tracing the Oracle transactions is easy, but you need to decide what level of trace you want and identify the database sessions to trace.
    Tracing can generate huge amounts of logs, so think carefully if you really need to do this.
    The tracing will only capture the database transactions. It won't track what happens in the application (e.g mouse clicks etc)
    Options to enable tracing :-
    -- ALTER SESSION
    alter session set tracefile_identifier = 'robert_trace'; # so that the trace files from this session are easily identified
    alter session set events '10046 trace name context forever, level 8';
    -- ALTER SYSTEM
    alter system set sql_trace=true;
    -- DBMS_SESSION
    exec dbms_session.set_sql_trace(sql_trace => TRUE);
    -- DBMS_SUPPORT
    exec dbms_support.start_trace(waits=>TRUE, binds=>FALSE);
    -- DBMS_SYSTEM
    exec sys.dbms_system.set_ev(72,21237,10046,12,'');
    -- ORADEBUG
    select username, spid from v$process;
    ORADEBUG SETOSPID 21237
    ORADEBUG EVENT 10046 TRACE NAME CONTEXT FOREVER, LEVEL 12
    -- DBMS_MONITOR
    exec dbms_monitor.session_trace_enable(session_id=>75, serial_num=>21237);
