How to transform xsd:anyType in wsdl to some element in target

Hi,
My current wsdl has anyType element. I tried to transform the response of webservice to some other schema. But JDeveloper says it doesn't support anyType mapping in this version.
I am using latest version of JDeveloper. Please suggest.

Hi.
I think you'll have to do the transformation manually.
you can edit your xsl source and add your dynamic xml xpath to your static anyType xpath, for example:
ns1:myAnyTypeXPath/ns2:myDynamicXPathRoot/ns2:myDinamicXPathElement/.....
Once you do this, you won't be able to view the xsl transform graphically in JDev anymore, but it should work anyway.

• [ETL]How to transform a Source model into an arbitrary number of target models ?

Hi all,
I need to know how to transform a source model into an arbitrary number of target models which conforms to different target metamodels using ETL ? Is there any examples that can help me ?
Thank you
Mana

Hi Antonio,
Actully I mean the number of metamodels are known.For example, assume that there are two known metamodels in the target side, the first one is the target metamodel, and the second one is the trace metamodel .
I would like to see an example of ETL transformation that run on a source model and generate the target model and the trace model as well. This statement is part of the chapter 5 of the ebook which says "it is often essential to be able to access/update additional models during a transformation (such as trace or configuration models). Building on the facilities provided by EMC and EOL, ETL enables specification of transformations that can transform an arbitrary number of source models into an arbitrary number of target models."
could you please explain this more for me or provide me with an example.
Thank you

• How To transform to anyType element in 10g?

HI,
How to map to anyType element in Jdeveloper 10g in transform activity? Is it supported?
I think in 11g, we can use copy-of construct.
What is the alternative in 10g?
Thanks
Manish

Hi,
By using copy-of xslt construct again input element structure is getting copied into the target mapper file, by using value-of xsl:construct just the value is getting assigned. Can you please elaborate on how to use this xsd:anyType elements in assign and tranform activities, overall how to use these elements in 10g, while implementing the canonical model.
ex:
xsl file: by using value-of
<xsl:template match="/">
<ns1:abstractRef>
<ns1:amount>
<xsl:value-of select="/ns1:BPELProcess1ProcessRequest/ns1:input"/>

Hi,
Any Update on this please...
Hi,
we are using canonical model as part of 10g, here I am not able to assign or tranform elements of type xsd:anyType to/from to other type elements. Solution with an example and quick reply is appreciated.

• How to Import xsd and use it in transformation for mapping

I have constructed an xsd and want to use it in BPEL Process.I imported the xsd into development.But I am unable to understand how to further proceed.Can anybody suggest me how to import xsd and use it as it has to be defined in wsdl before using right.Is there any way we can use xsd?

Hi',
See in a BPEL (web service) we use XSD to define its input and output, inside this BPEL process you have input and output variable.
Now inside the transform you can use this variables to transform data, there can be many other variables too, when you try to invoke
some other BPEL process you again create new input and output variable.
Inside a transform activity you have a source and a target there you can decide where all the input is coming from you could have
one or many variables in source and only 1 in target, this is how your variables (or XSD) can go inside the transform, inside the transform.xsl
view you can right click on the source side(left) and include any new variable there.

• Attemp to build loosely coupled WS using xsd:any & xsd:anyType?

Dear All,
i want to write a loosely coupled web service that allow
the server to evolve independently to the client. (main
purpose is to extend the service by adding more properties
in the request / response message)
i want to achieve the loosely coupled goal by adding
xsd:any or xsd:anyType to the request / response messages
(i.e. wsdl ComplexType). (just follow the normal XML
guideline).
i have try to write simple program with xsd:any (which
mapped to SOAPElement in JAX-RPC). And the result seems
good and can achieve my goal. ( i can consume the service
in java and .net without problem).
but later, i read some article, in the web, (like this: http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/xml/library/ws-tip-xsdcaution.html)
that clams it is better to use xsd:anyType instead of
xsd:any (as anyType is mapped to SOAPElement or java
object if server/client can deserialize it).
as far as i know, the support of xsd:anyType is not standardized / madatory.
could anyone tell me your comment about using xsd:anyType or xsd:any?
how about the support of xsd:anyType across different platform / tools?
xsd:anyAttribute seems not supported by jax-rpc, could you please comment on using this element in the wsdl? good or bad?
oracle will map this element to an oracle proprietary java object.
am i choosing the right way to achieve loosely-coupled WS? any other way?
some article claims to send request as xml doc. but it
seems that is not very convenient to server and client as
both sides need to write code for serialization /
deserialization.
why not use the existing automatic XML <--> java object provided by the jax-rpc standard?
Thank you very much

Hello,
Is your question related to very specific element of your message or for the complete message.
Using any/anyType even if powerful could be sometimes complex for Web Service Client developer to handle since the Java object (SOAPElement or Object) is not typed so doing late binding of schema force people to do the mapping themself any.
So before choosing this in a wide scope on your project think also to its impact for end user/developers, and I think you are on the good path, as you said anyType will recognize the object.
I am inviting you to also look at the Oracle Web Services Interoperability documentation.
and this article from SUN: Interoperability With Patterns and Strategies for Document-Based Web Services

I am not sure what we are missing in XSD file that the XML output is not getting transformed correctly...although we tried transforming the XML output by removing some information in XML output above and it was getting trasformed properly..
We remove
1. xmlns = "http://tempuri.org/Projectix20/SOAPAccess" from <ExecuteSQLToXMLResponse xmlns = "http://tempuri.org/Projectix20/SOAPAccess" >
2. xmlns = "" from <NewDataSet xmlns = "" >
3 remove <parameters > and </parameters > tags from output and the XML Output is getting tranformed correctly.
Please let us know if we can transform the XML Output without requiring these removals.
Thanks,

Could you clarify some things? You are saying you are trying to transform the xml output of a webservice with an xsd, but an xsd is a schema that describes the allowed format of a xml file. If you want to transform xml from one format to an other (from one xsd to an other) you have to use a xsl file. You can make and test this with JDeveloper. Are you calling the webservice from esb or bpel?
Kind Regards,

• Topdown JAVA WS and xsd:anyType

Hi,
I am developing a JAVA webservice using the Top-down method.
I have created the code using the JDeveloper File -> New -> Java Web Service From WSDL
Part of the reply payload is a general xml message and I have used xsd:anyType in the WSDL
I have created this code:
ResponseMessageType resp = new ResponseMessageType();
ResponseMessageType.Messages msgs = new ResponseMessageType.Messages();
resp.setMessages(msgs);
msgs.getMessage().add("<c><d>FF</d></c>");
msgs.getMessage().add("<c><d>FF22</d></c>");
msgs.getMessage().add("<c><d>F333F</d></c>");
return resp;
This returns a result of:

<S:Envelope xmlns:S="http://www.w3.org/2003/05/soap-envelope">
<S:Body>
<responseMessage xmlns="http://www.ic.ac.uk/dev/RJMTest_JMSSyncQuery_WS">
<messages>
<message xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:type="xs:string"><a xmlns="eee"><b></b><c><d>FF</d></c></a></message>
<message xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:type="xs:string"><a xmlns="eee"><b></b><c><d>FF22</d></c></a></message>
<message xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:type="xs:string"><a xmlns="eee"><b></b><c><d>F333F</d></c></a></message>
</messages>
</responseMessage>
</S:Body>
</S:Envelope>
As you can see this is not quite what I want. It has replaced the < with <
I need it to return the contents of the string as if it was xml.
Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?
Thanks
Robert

This works as designed as per the HTML standard:
Four character entity references deserve special mention since they are frequently used to escape special characters:
* "<" represents the < sign.
* ">" represents the > sign.
* "&" represents the & sign.
* "" represents the " mark.
Authors wishing to put the "<" character in text should use "<" (ASCII decimal 60) to avoid possible confusion with the beginning of a tag (start tag open delimiter). Similarly, authors should use ">" (ASCII decimal 62) in text instead of ">" to avoid problems with older user agents that incorrectly perceive this as the end of a tag (tag close delimiter) when it appears in quoted attribute values.
Use(Escaped) by or XML entities: < > it should work
Please refer to the link in the references section regarding these specific characters.

• HotFix 2 breaks web service results of type xsd:anyType

I have a client that accesses a number of web services that
return results as type xsd:anyType (the results are complex XML
hierarchies that change according to db values). Before HotFix 2,
in in my ResultEvent.RESULT event handler, I could get access to
the result via the ResultEvent.result property. But since HotFix 2,
the ResultEvent.result property is always null for web services
results of type xsd:anyType (for other result types,
ResultEvent.result is correct).
This is a major nuisance!! I assume this is a bug, so can
anyone suggest any workarounds while I wait for Adobe to fix it? I
can access the result as a string via the EventResult.message.body
member. And from there, I can parse the XML, and perform an
XML-to-ValueObject conversion... does that sound reasonable? Does
anyone have an examples of XML-to-ValueObject conversion code to
help get me started?
Any hints or tips would be most welcome ;)
Thanks!
Paul C.

This has become a huge problem for me... it's boken my
applications in *many* places :(
Is there no-one with any suggestions?

• How to transform hotkey ctrl+L to F9

My app is oracle form 10g.
I wonder how to transform hotkey ctrl+L to F9 because in my company everyone is used to press F9 to query .
Would someone tell me?
Thank you.

I don't understand exactly what you want to do.
Refer to fmrweb.res found in the \forms directory. This is the file used to configure key mapping. This is a text file, so it can be opened in most text editors. The top portion of the file provides an explaination as to how each value works.

• How to make xsd from xml file?

• How to handle "xsd:anyAttributes" with jaxb

Need help for how to handling "xsd:anyAttribute" with jaxb!
Here is part of my xml schema.
<xsd:attributeGroup name="DataAttributes">
<xsd:anyAttribute namespace="##local" processContents="lax"/>
</xsd:attributeGroup>
<xsd:element name="Data">
<xsd:complexType>
<xsd:attributeGroup ref="DataAttributes"/>
</xsd:complexType>
</xsd:element>
<xsd:element name="MA_Verify">
<xsd:complexType>
<xsd:sequence>
<xsd:element ref="Data" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded"/>
</xsd:sequence>
<xsd:attributeGroup ref="verifyAttributes"/>
</xsd:complexType>
</xsd:element>
I have an application which only knows the attribute names and values at runtime. (Thest attributes are string.) Therefore, I cannot define attribute names in the schema and have to use xsd:anyAttribute.
I was able to generate all jaxb code. However, the interfaces generated for Data and DataType are basically all empty. The impl classes are empty too, since no get or set methods exist for the attribute.
Some thoughts for handling this case, but do not know if it will work.
(1) write some derive classes on top of the generated jaxb classes.
(2) write customized method to handle the 'Data' element level and its attributes. Similar to parseMethod or printMethod for the javaType.
(if there is a way)
Can anyone give me suggestions, directions or an laternate way to handle the situation?
Your help will be greatly appreciated.
Ruth

xsd:anyAttribute is not supported by JAXB.

• Mapping xsd:anyType element to Java.lang.Object

Hi,
I am using JAXB to parse a xml and in the XSD we have one element which is of the anyType and returns java.lang.object from JAXB generated classes. The issue is that when the node contains string and we type cast the returned object to string every thing runs fine but when the element contains embeded xml then the object returned can not be type cast to string.
code snippet:
*<xsd:element name="SignatureDefinition" type="xsd:anyType" />*
and the xml I am parsing contains:
*<SignatureDefinition>
name
job
</SignatureDefinition>*
That is the element contains a object which is a well formed xml.
Can any one guide or provide me the pointers.
Thanks
Regards,
Devesh

Hello Devesh,
The "SignatureDefinition" portion of the XML document should be unmarshalled as a DOM Element.
File file = new File("any.xml");
Root root = (Root) jaxbContext.createUnmarshaller().unmarshal(file);
Element element = (Element) root.getSignatureDefinition();
System.out.println(element.getTextContent());
If "SignatureDefintion" is the root of the XML document, you should get a JAXBElement wrapping a DOM Element.
File file = new File("any.xml");
JAXBElement<Element> root = (JAXBElement<Element>) jaxbContext.createUnmarshaller().unmarshal(file);
System.out.println(root.getValue().getTextContent());

• How validation & transformation handled in ETL

Hi,
I am new to OWB (We are using Oracle 8i). I have to extract data from source, do the required validation and transformation and then finally load the data into target table.I need help on validation and transformation handled in ETL.
Illustration:
source table emp_src & target table is emp_target. I have to validate deptcd (should present in dept master). While loading i have to replace these invalid dept code with some dummy value maintained in parameter table. Insert all the correct records and errorneous records with transformations into target table.
Also, i want to store all these invalid records in error table or error file.
My question:
1. How these can be handled in ETL
2. Should i have to modify the pl-sql procedure/jobs
generated by ETL.
3. Can i have my own procedures to accomplish the above
task
4. Can i execute my procedure within the ETL generated
procedure.
Thanks,
sanjay rastogi

I will try to answer your questions:
1) You could do this using a "key lookup" on deptcd against the dept master. The key lookup returns NULL for each invalid value. You could then use an expression to replace the null values with a default.
In order to log the errors you could use a "split", which enables you to insert the erroneous data into a log table.
2) No. I have yet to come across a situation where I have had to modify the generated PL/SQL. (Doing so will cause serious issues regarding maintenance, upgrades etc.)
3) You can use your own procedure. Simply write your PL/SQL package/procedure/function and import it into your OWB transformation library.
4) Yes. Same as before, import your own procedures, and use them in mappings as Transformations or in Expressions
Hope this helps.

• How to assosciate webservice to a WSDL file

Hi
I tried developing webservice(EJB as RPC) in weblogic server and installed and its working fine if i call it from client.
I am using java2WSDL(axis) tool to create a WSDL file and WSDL2Java to create stubs for client to call.I am struck in linking webservice to use the wsdl file which i have created.
I manually tried to add my WSDL file to the WAR file of my application and also Updated the web.xml file of the Web application adding a mime-mapping.
I am able to access the WSDL file in browser as http://bt885094:7001/webservice/user.wsdl
But my client tries to access the service "http://bt885094:7001/webservice/C2PUserService" which has an associated WSDL file defined as http://bt885094:7001/webservice/C2PUserService?WSDL which needs to be checking for http://bt885094:7001/webservice/user.wsdl
Could anyone tell me how to assosciate webservice to a WSDL file.
thanks in advance

Thank you everyone for your help. As a complete newbie I found this nice walkthrough tutorial in onjava(i dont mean to spam).
1. View: Take a peek at the existing Fibonacci code.
2. Java2WSDL: Generate the WSDL file for the given Fibonacci interface.
3. WSDL2Java: Generate the server side wrapper code, and stubs for easy client access.
4. FibonacciSoapBindingImpl: Fill in wrapper to call the existing Fibonacci code.
5. Deploy: Deploy the service to Apache Axis.
6. Client: Write a client that uses the generated stubs, to easily access the Web service.
Given the webservice endpoint and the method name, I think I can now consume the web service using steps 3,4, and 6.
