How to "unget" an instance via Papi from External Interactive activity?

Using ALBPM5.7, am trying to create a java app to implement an external interactive activity following this general process:
1. poll for next "gettable" instance in desired process/task (in order of priority, receivedtime)
2. call Get the instance to reserve it to current user
3. call prepareExternalActivity for instance to get arguments from FBL
4. do some work on the instance
5. call commitExternalActivity to pass args back in to FBL
I have created something like the following code snippet based sample code from the PAPI docs:
// get the instance to be worked, assumes previously found the "next" one based on priority/recievedtime to variable ii
Filter filter = ProcessService.createFilter();
filter.setSearchScope(new SearchScope(ParticipantScope.ALL, StatusScope.ALL, null));
filter.addAttribute(VarDefinition.getDefaultVarDefinition(VarDefinition.INSTANCE_NUMBER), Comparison.IS, ii.getInstanceIn());
InstanceInfo[] instances = new InstanceInfo[0];
instances = papiSession.getInstancesByFilter( new String[] { processId }, filter );
if ( instances.length == 0 ) return null;
Arguments arguments = Arguments.create();
arguments = session.prepareExternalActivity(instance.getId(), instance.getActivityName(), Arguments.create());
String info = (String) arguments.getArgument("preArgOut");
// do some work...
arguments = Arguments.create();
arguments.putArgument("comArgIn", info);
session.commitExternalActivity(instance.getId(), instance.getActivityName(), arguments);
I have a question, though. If, during the "do some work" step the user cannot finish for any reason, how do I cancel the "get" (or "unget" it) on the instance so that it remains in the same activity for the next user to work?
Thanks,
Todd

More info...
If I dump the instanceInfo object (converted to xml using the com.thoughtworks.xstream library), I get the xml below. While the Status shows as 1 (=Running), the isExecuting is "false". For this same instance (ii), since there is only one task (TaskIn=0), the call to abortActivity is:
papiSession.abortActivity(ii.getId(), ii.getActivityName(), 0);
Which yields the "Instance '/ExtInterTest#Default-1.2/110619/0' is not running." exception.
I have previously "selected" the instance prior to calling prepareExternalActivity, but at this point instanceCanBeUnselected(ii) is false.
...not sure what to try next. Is there possibly some way to raise an exception from the papi client back to the engine that would allow me to abort the activity from within the process flow (e.g. just put it back to available at the ExternalInteractive activity that was not completed)?

    Connectivity between an iPhone and a computer via Bluetooth is extremely limited. It supports tethering (hotspot or internet sharing) if your cellular plan allows that but does not support transfer of photos. You can import photos from the Camera Roll to the computer via USB or via wifi as described in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083

    Hi and Welcome to the Community!
    See this KB:
    KB05409 Transfer a file using Bluetooth technology between two BlackBerry smartphones
    Substitute, in the KB, the appropriate instructions for your other device in place of the KB section for the receiving device. Be aware that RIM only supports BT file transfer between BBs...with other devices is technically unsupported. But, it usually works, as long as the two devices are paired, trusted to each other, and each have all of the correct BT services enabled for the configuration of the other device.
    Good luck and let us know!

  • How to pass values to dashboard prompts from external applications

    Any idea is well appreciated.
    How can I pass values of dashboard prompts from external applications to the dashboard prompts so that the dashboard is prefiltered based on values sent by external applications.
    Thanks in Advance!
    Kris

    Kris,
    i am able to change the session variable and able to call the dashboard from external app, but i identified prompt value not changing. but Finally i am able to found a workaround for you.
    Use the following URL and it explained here
    http://localhost:9704/analytics/saw.dll?Dashboard&nquser=Administrator&nqpassword=Administrator&PortalPath=/shared/abcd/_portal/dash1&Options=rmf&DSN=madan
    PortalPath is your dashboard location. /shared/abcd is folder where i saved dashboards. dash1 is my dashboard name.
    internally this dashboard includes many reports that uses the session variable. after doing above this i am able to update the session variable to the value i have given in URL, DSN=value.
    You may observer here that calls the dashboard and passes the value but its not updating the prompt value. so workaround for this is edit your prompt,
    change the Default to - SQL Results and place the sql
    SELECT CASE WHEN 1=0 THEN Markets.Region ELSE VALUEOF(NQ_SESSION.DSN) END saw_0 FROM Paint
    again here Market.Region is column from presentation layer and Paint is subject area. After doing this step, your prompt always shows value in the session varible as default.
    Now include reports and dashboard prompt in the dashboard and run this url from external applicaitons.
    http://localhost:9704/analytics/saw.dll?Dashboard&nquser=Administrator&nqpassword=Administrator&PortalPath=/shared/abcd/_portal/dash1&Options=rmf&DSN=madan
    it worked for me and blog this soon. if it works for you mark the question as answered and mark my replies as correct.
    thanks

  • How to upgrade/downgrade an existing Arch from external media?

    Hi there!
    After last upgrade of kernel and video drivers i got a blank screen with no tty console.
    I read couple of threads in » Pacman & Package Upgrade Issues
    I found out that the solution would be "to boot from external media, chroot and downgrade kernel to 3.9.9"
    Questions:
    1.How would i do that?
    2.Should i downgrade or upgrade (if with  the new kernel the issue is fixed)?
    Thank you!

    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Chroot
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Downgrade
    If the new kernel is fixed, that's the best answer by far. If it's not, downgrade until it is.

  • How to restore my backup in laptop from external drive

    How to restore my backup in my macbookpro from external drive

    Hello Jayrajjpatel,
    It sounds like you have a Time Machine backup on an external drive that you would like to use to restore your computer. The following article will help you get that done, named:
    OS X Mavericks: Recover your entire system
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14185
    If you’re restoring your system because of a problem with your startup disk, repair or replace the disk before following these instructions.
    Make sure your Time Machine backup disk is connected and turned on. If your disk is on a network, make sure your Mac is on the same network.
    Choose Apple menu > Restart. Once your Mac restarts (and the gray screen appears), hold down the Command (⌘) and R keys.
    Select “Restore from a Time Machine Backup,” then click Continue.
    Do one of the following:
    External backup disk: Select it, then click Continue.
    Time Capsule: Choose your network from the AirPort menu on the right side of the menu bar, and then select your Time Capsule and click “Connect to Remote Disk.”
    Network backup disk: Select it, then click “Connect to Remote Disk.”
    If necessary, enter the name and password you use to connect to your backup disk, then click Connect.
    Select the date and time of the backup you want to restore, then follow the onscreen instructions.
    After you restore your system, Time Machine may perform a full backup at the next scheduled backup time. This is normal. Time Machine resumes incremental backups after the full backup is completed.
    Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

  • HT4356 I have just updated my Epson printer to one which supports air print but consider it to be a waste of money as my printer has two paper trays and there is option to choose which try...just "print"  How can I print photos via AirPrint from photo  tr

    Hi,
    First-timer on this...Just updated my printer which was less than one year old, to one which had Air Print capabilities. This one is the Epson XP605 which has two trays, one being for photos. Each time I tried to Air Print a photo, it printed from the A4 plain paper tray instead of the Photo Tray.Twice...then I came into my study and changed the printer settings to Tray 1 (photo tray) Photo paper, size 5x7 and  Photo Best, but still it printed on plain A 4 paper. Would be most grateful for any help, although I did read on one Apple site that AirPrint may not be able to choose trays!!!! "may not"??  Thanks

    I just figured out the print quality issue for my wife with her new iMac and new printer.
    She replaced both at once and she couldn't understand why her Artisan 730 was lower quality then her Epson R280 when they had the same specs.
    Turns out the newer printer had the option to connect via wifi which we used during setup.
    The driver options are completely different depending on how you connect.
    Once I connected via USB the correct options were available and the print quality was better.
    Looking at the R2400 it dies not have wifi, but while researching the problem for my wife someone esle was having an issue updating to the latest printer driver.
    If you go into the print utility from the Printer and Scanner system preference and under the general tab you should have driver 5.5.
    One user had to delete the old printer driver before Software Update loaded the newer printer driver.
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/15947486#15947486
    On my MacBook Pro (w Snow Leopard) I always had to reconnect my wifi at home when it woke up. I upgraded my router from an old Netgear to a newer N D-Link and stopped having to do that.
    I would be surprised you would have that problem with an Airport Extreme, you might check to see if there is a firmware update for it.

  • How to create process instance throught PAPI?

    Hi,
    Can someone share how do we use PAPI to create a process instance for the Expense Management process (process in the BPM tutorial)?
    I believe it is through calling the processCreateInstance() method from a ProcessServiceSession object, however, what exactly do we pass in as a parameter? I tried simply by passing in the process name and an empty Arguments object and the following exception was logged:

    I'm wondering why does it complain that "fuego.papi.ProcessNotAvailableException: Process '/ExpenseReport#Default-1.0' not available.", when the ExpenseReport process is indeed a process that was published?
    P.S.: I know this thread is sort of a duplicate of another thread, however I hope we can get some real examples of how to create a process instance for the Expense Management project, using PAPI (instead of PAPI webservice).

    Hi Mark,
    Thanks for your prompt reply.. I tried with the above option but still am facing the same problem.
    Let me give you the brief idea of what am working on;
    1) I created a process using Oracle BPM Studio V: 10.3.1.0 & Build: #94375
    2) I publish & deploy the process using Oracle BPM Admin Center which running on top of tomcat. But in the configuration I configure the directory as well as weblogic server.
    3) I created a "Java Project" & included following jar file "b1base.jar","b1oracle.jar","b1util.jar","bcel.jar","ejb-api.jar","fuegopapi-client.jar","jms-api.jar","ojdbc14.jar","weblogic.jar","wljmsclient.jar".
    4) I am using below program to create a PAPI Process Instance;
    package ibm.com.papi;
    import java.util.Properties;
    import fuego.papi.CommunicationException;
    import fuego.papi.InstanceInfo;
    import fuego.papi.OperationException;
    import fuego.papi.ProcessService;
    import fuego.papi.ProcessServiceSession;

              configuration.setProperty(ProcessService.INSTANCES_CACHE_SIZE, "50000");
              configuration.setProperty(ProcessService.WORKING_FOLDER, "c://tmp");
              configuration.setProperty(ProcessService.UPDATE_SESSIONS_VIEWS, "true");
              System.setProperty("fuego.j2ee.initialctx.file","C:\\tmp\\engine.properties");
              System.setProperty("fuego.j2ee.initialctx.resource","engine.properties");

  • How to avoid partial files via FTP from XI to an external server?

    Hi all,
    I'm working in an interface where XI sends a big file (greater than 1MB) via FTP to the client. The client needs an empty file to be created once the file has been fully sent from XI, with format <b>.ok</b>, so that their server can trigger their interface to process the file.
    They want this procedure to ensure no partial files are processed.
    Could someone please help me out on how to do this in XI.
    Thank you.
    <b>Juan Carlos</b>

    HI rajendra
    look into this
    file.checkFileModificationInterval=<msecs>
    Use this parameter to define a length of time (default value: 0) for the file/FTP adapter to wait after the file has been read to see if the file length changes. If this is the case, the system repeats the read procedure. This is useful if the files to be imported by the adapter are generated dynamically without being locked on the operating system level (for example, files received from FTP servers). Without this workaround, the file/FTP adapter cannot recognize whether the generation of the file is complete in such applications with operating system functions.

  • OBPM Studio 10g R3: Create new process instance via PAPI

    Hi folks,
    I used JDeveloper to generate Java stubs off the PAPI WSDL. This works great and I'm able to list Processes similar to the bundled JAX-WS example just fine. Now I'd like to take it to the next level and create a process instance. I really appreciate your guidance on how to do that.
    Currently my process has a Global Creation Activity (screenflow) and the BeginIn mapping goes to an Automatic Activity.
    Questions:
    1) Is it possible to create a process instance in my case given that I have a Global Creation Activity ? Or if not, what changes do I need to make?
    2) Does anyone have any Java code examples for invoking the PAPI process instance creation code?
    In my case, I found a method in the stub that accepts three parameters - the process Id (String), an "ArgumentSetBean name (String), and an ArgumentBean, but I'm not sure what to fill in. :-)
    Thanks everyone!
