How to update a auto increment record
Hi all,
I just figured out a way to insert auto increment record, but there is still one problem to solve which is how to do the update of the auto increment record, because after I get the db record, I don't know if there is a way to get the associated sequence key with the record, I can't do the record update without knowing the primary key, ie the associated sequence key.
Can you point me to a way to do updating?
Regards,
-Bruce
You learn how to use JDBC.
And then you learn how to use the SQL update statement.
If you search in this forum for 'update' you will find examples.

How to get the auto increment integer primary key value of a new record
I have a DB table that has a auto increment integer primary key, if I insert a new record into it by SQL statement "INSERT INTO...", how can I get the integer primary key value of that newly created record?
Well maybe someone knows a better method, but one workaround would be to add a dummy field to your table. When a new record is inserted this dummy field will be null. Then you can select your record with SELECT keyField FROM yourTable WHERE dummyField IS NULL. Once you've got the key number, you then update the record with a non-null value in the dummyField. Bit of a bodge, but it should work...
Another alternative is, instead of using an Autonumbered key field, you could assign your own number by getting the MAX value of the existing keys (with SELECT MAX(keyField) FROM yourTable) and using that number + 1 for your new key. Might be a problem if you have lots of records and frequent deletions though. -
How to update more than one records at one time
hello guys..
how to update a few records (more than one) with different
IDs at the same time? i tried to make a query like this (see
below), but only one record (more than one data in the same
field)has been updated.
<cfquery name="rec" datasource="DatKoku">
select *
from tbl_pilih
where id_pel = '#form.idpel#'
</cfquery>
<cfquery name="updtrecord" datasource="DatKoku">
update tbl_pilih
set
kptsn = '#form.suk_pil#',
trkh_kptsn =
'#Dateformat(TodayDate,"dd/mm/yy")#|#TimeFormat(Now(),"hh:mm:ss
tt")#'
where id_pel = '#rec.id_pel#'
</cfquery>
<cfquery name="outputrecord" datasource="DatKoku">
select *
from tbl_pilih
where id_pel = '#form.idpel#'
</cfquery>Take the query,
<cfquery name="rec" datasource="DatKoku">
select *
from tbl_pilih
where id_pel = '#form.idpel#'
</cfquery>
If every row in the table has a distinct id_pel, then what
you ask is actually an impossible question. It will have no answer.
Distinct IDs imply that the resultset will contain
at most one distinct value of id_pel. That means, there can
be at most one row that satisfies the condition,
where id_pel = '#rec.id_pel#' in the update query. That in
turn means the update query can update at most one row at a time.
If, however, the resultset of
rec consists of multiple rows, it will mean that there are
multiple rows in the table that have the same
id_pel . Then, your update query,
updtrecord, should update all the rows that share that value
of id_pel. -
How to reverse the auto levels recording to normal levels?
Hi!
What I want to say is that I have a recording taken with Zoom H1 and the Auto Levels switch was accidentally on. That of course makes the parts of the recording after a pause to start too loud and then when the signal goes to high, makes it too quiet. It's not nice.
Is there a way to level out the recording? It's a speech and I know that it can be done using Speech volume leveler, but I don't want to use that either. What I am interested in is that is there a way to capture a noise print or the print of desired level of audio and then level out the rest of the audio by referencing to the print volume? In other words, reverse the Auto Levels effect back to normal. Is that possible?
Thanks!Srivas 108 wrote:
I tried Speech Volume Leveler and the thing that I don't like in my particular situation is that it boosts the quieter signals up to the level of louder ones and that means also boosting noise. It would be nice to do the other way around, that is attenuate the louder signals to match the quieter ones. Is that possible to do with Dynamics Processing? How to do it?
Which version of Audition are you using? There are Advanced options on later versions that allow you to keep the noise down.
But what you are looking foe in Dynamics Processing is the Downward Expander. As an example look for instance at the E. Guitar Gate preset. It is a rather extreme version of what you want to do but gives you some idea where to start. -
How to update bulk no of records using Batch Update
i am trying to insert and update records into multiple tables using Statement addBatch() and executeBatch() method. But some times it is not executing properly. some tables records are inserting and some tables it is not inserting. But I want all the records need to excute and commit or if any error is there then all records need to rollback.
This is the code i am using.
public String addBatchQueryWithDB(StringBuffer quries, Connection conNew,Statement stmtNew) throws Exception {
String success="0";
try {
conNew.setAutoCommit(false);
String[] splitquery=quries.toString().trim().replace("||","##").split("\\|");
for(int i=0;i<splitquery.length;i++) {
//System.out.println("query.."+i+".."+splitquery.trim().replace("##","||"));
stmtNew.addBatch(splitquery[i].trim().replace("##","||"));
int[] updCnt = stmtNew.executeBatch();
for(int k=0;k<updCnt.length;k++){
int test=updCnt[k];
if(test>=0){
success=String.valueOf(Integer.parseInt(success)+1);
// System.out.println(".updCnt..."+updCnt[k]);
System.out.println("success...length.."+success);
if(updCnt.length==Integer.parseInt(success)){
success="1";
//conNew.commit();
} catch (BatchUpdateException be) {
//handle batch update exception
int[] counts = be.getUpdateCounts();
for (int i=0; i<counts.length; i++) {
System.out.println("DB::addBatchQuery:Statement["+i+"] :"+counts[i]);
success="0";
conNew.rollback();
throw new Exception(be.getMessage());
} catch (SQLException ee) {
success="0";
System.out.println("DB::addBatchQuery:SQLExc:"+ee);
conNew.rollback();
throw new Exception(ee.getMessage());
} catch (Exception ee) {
success="0";
System.out.println("DB::addBatchQuery:Exc:"+ee);
conNew.rollback();
throw new Exception(ee.getMessage());
}finally {
// determine operation result
if(success!=null && success.equalsIgnoreCase("1")){
System.out.println("commiting......");
conNew.commit();
}else{
System.out.println("rolling back......");
success="0";
conNew.rollback();
conNew.setAutoCommit(true);
return success;

Thank you for ur reply,
I am using single connection only, but different schemas. Then I am passing a Stringbuffer to a method, and First iam setting con.setAutoCommit(false); and then in that method i am splitting my queries in stringbuffer and adding it to stmt.addBatch(). After that I am executing the batch.after executing the batch i am commiting the connectionIf I am reading that right then you should stop using Batch.
The intent of Batch is that you have one statement and you are going to be using it over and over again with different data. -
How to update around 12 lac record when using co-related update

I have two tables and 14 columns in them are similar, I mean have the same name
Now I want to update 1 column using the records in the other table by using join condition so I wrote a code but as the records are around 12 lac which need to be updated so my code hangs after 25%

How to have an auto increment primary key in HDBDD
Hello,
Using a HDBDD file I am creating a table in which I need a primary key(recordId) which is auto generated by the DB.
What would be the way to do this?
My hdbdd file:
namespace sap.mobile.data;
@Schema : 'SAP_TEST'
context Sample {
@Catalog.tableType : #COLUMN
entity Details {
text : LargeString;
level : String(10);
timestamp : UTCTimestamp;
recordId : ?Such syntax for calculated columns isn't supported yet by CDS/HDBDD. The work around people would use today is to use a Sequence in any logic that does an insert into this table.

Auto Incrementing in Text Field
I imported a tab file and one column was the city, state and zip code. For some reason, the Zip code auto increments. It just so happened that the first cell was Durham, NC 27701. All subsequent cells incremented the Zip code by one, so the second cell became Durham, NC 27702. I have tried making the column a text field, and that did not work. I do not find any formula in the field, so am at a loss as to how to prevent the auto-incrementing from hapening.

Which Vallauris is your home city? Provence, or Pyrenees?
None, Vallauris is not in Provence but in 'Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur'
At this time there is a great discussion about this name.
Some wish to change it because they think that thge acronym PACA is not their cup of tea.
Given that, inhabitants of "Provence" refuse to drop "Provence",
inhabitants of "Alpes" refuse to drop "Alpes",
inhabitants of "Cote d'Azur" refuse to drop "Cote d'Azur".
My own advice is simply : don't use an acronym !
I searched heavily and din't find a Vallauris in Pyrénées.
The only town whose name approach is :
I just found :
Valaurie
Code postal: 26230
Département: Drôme
Région: Rhône-Alpes
Vallauris sits between Cannes and Antibes.

Not authorised to have auto increment trigger on server
Hello all. I need a few triggers set up, I have no problems setting up sequences and "before insert" triggers on my home PC setup but on the live server where I study I do not have the authority.
I got around this before by using Forms so I set the trigger at Form level.
I am developing a DB system that will at some stage in the future use Forms, but for now it will use HTML forms via a web browser.
I need to have the primary key for user accessible tables to be auto incremented (on the server where I study), but how can get around the authority issue ??
Any ideas are extremely welcome !!Hello all - yeah I am on a course. I too have no idea why they will not allow the students to create triggers at table level.
The 1st system I developed at home I had auto incremented primary keys. It was using Oracle Forms as the front end. Because I am the admin on my home setup I didn't have any problems.
When I went to the course site to implement exactly what I had at home (which worked 100% properly) inserting data via the forms was not working. I had no idea why. the lecturer guy took a look at my code and told me its because of the trigger, I do not have authority to create triggers on the server.
"create or replace trigger cust_trg
before insert on customer
for each row
begin
select cust_seq.nextval into :new.cust_id
from dual;
end;"
The above code works fine on my home PC. I used Pre Insert triggers on the block on the Form instead to get around the problem (I presumed it was because they wanted us to learn Forms more thoroughly).
This next project does not involve forms but they will not change my access rights so I don't have a clue as to how to get an auto incremented primary key whilst using a HTML form.

Auto increment numbers in Oracle 8i
Hi all,
How to have an auto increment number as a primary key of a table in Oracel 8i(8.1.7) ?. Is it possible to specify to use a sequence as a column ?
Antony PaulYou can create a BEFORE INSERT trigger that uses the sequence to populate the primary key column. If you are coming from SQL Server, that's the closest approximation to an IDENTITY column.

Database :Auto increment in SQL server ID
Hi,
How can I do auto increment in SQL server primary column ID. Actualy I am writing the data into the SQL datbase table using LabVIEW and I wanted to set the auto increment to the primary key column ID. I have three column in TEST_REPORT table i.e Test_ID, Test_No and Test_Result. I wanted to set Test_ID as a primary key and set as a auto increment and write the value for only Test_No and Test_Result column
When ever I am writing data into table the Test_ID is not getting auto incremented. I set that auto increment manualy through SQL server management studio.
Please help me to fix this issue.Hi Palanivel,
Thanks for the suggestion.
Initially I was using same logic "query for TEST ID at initially" but I have to query data from more than 20 tables and write into it and its taking lots of space and query time.
I am just looking for alternative of this.
Actually I am setting the auto incremnt for TEST ID through the SQL server managemnt studio but when ever I ignore the TEST ID column and write the data in rest column.
I gets the error message "Insert Error: Column name or number of supplied values does not match table definition".
