How to update Illustrator files?

I've been told I can 'update' linked image files...
Illustrator files I have imported into the library. But the
'update' menu option keeps coming up as gray. anyone know why?
thanks... or any other tips of how to edit my images in illustrator
and somehow have them be updated in in Flash? without manually
re-importing them, etc?

Show the code you use to add it to the JAR, and we will attempt to fix it. Don't forget to put it around [code] tags

WHERE a.enrlmnt_type_cid = 1
AND a.chklst_item_cid = b.chklst_item_cid
AND a.chklst_item_cid = 79
AND a.oprtnl_flag = 'A'
AND b.oprtnl_flag = 'A'
AND TRUNC (SYSDATE) BETWEEN b.from_date AND b.TO_DATE;So i suggest below one but you need to create a directory where you can store your html file and then you can update .. And remaining consult Experts suggestions too as your

• HOw to update XML file residing in DAM by component JSP in run-time?

i have made a component which reads xml file residing in DAM.
Content Author can fill some values in dialog of this component, as soon as author provide the values,i have to update these values in XML file and component reloadsby reading the updated xml file.
i am trying to achieve this by making object of XML file and giving it's path., but i ma unable to access the XML file.
Can anyone help me out to how to update XML file by component JSP in run-time?

Now the changed data must be exported back into the XML file, meaning that the content of certain elements must be updated. How can this be done with XSLT?
XSLT approach: check these online tutorial
http://www.xml.com/pub/a/2000/08/02/xslt/index.html
http://www.xml.com/pub/a/2000/06/07/transforming/index.html
ABAP approach:
for example you have the xml (original) in a string called say xml_out .
data: l_xml  type ref to cl_xml_document ,
node type ref to if_ixml_node .
create object l_xml.
call method l_xml->parse_string
exporting
stream = xml_out.
node = l_xml->find_node(
name   = 'IDENTITY'
ROOT   = ROOT
l_xml->set_attribute(
name    = 'Name'
value   = 'Charles'
node    = node
(the above example reads the element IDENTITY and sets attribute name/value to the same)
like wise you can add new elements starting from IDENTITY using various methods available in class CL_XML_DOCUMENT
so how do I access the XML file in order to update it?
you have already read this XML into a ABAP variable right?
Sorry couldnt understand your whole process, why do you need to read local XML file?

• How to update Illustrator comps

I like being able to import layered illustrator files as comps (retain layer sizes) in AE.
But if you need to make a change to the .ai file - how can you update that change after you've already imported?
Say you've animated the illustator comp, but you need to add some new layers... how can you re-link or re-import and keep all previously imported layers the same?

You can't. That's just how it is and the fault is mostly with how bad AI deals with layers and groups and doesn't take care to keep them consistent. What you want would only be halfway feasible if you imported separate objects from an AI file, but you'd still end up reloading them manually and adding your extra layers manualyl as well.

• How to update XML file through UCCX script ?

Hi,
I have an UCCX script with MENU step. One of the step is for technical support team. When caller chose this step, information about date and time of the call and calling number should be recorded on a XML file located on the web server.
This XML is uploaded into the web server , but I don't know how to update it through UCCX script.
Here is how the XML file looks like:

CALL LOG

Support Call log

2011-08-24 14:56:39 - 00044 123 123 123

</item

Any idea?
Thanks,
O

Hi
The 'keyword transform' step uses the template XML file to generate the actual XML file you want to post... the template would be a plain text file uploaded to the repository, and would look like so:

CALL LOG
Support Call log
1
%%calldatetime%% - %%clinumber%%
Now - if you had that bit of XML, with correct time/number in it - have you verified know that you can definately just post that XML to a certain URL to get it on the server? Check with whoever manages that server exactly what you need to do to get it to appear - then worry about how you do that from UCCX. It may not be a matter of posting up that XML, you may need it in a different format or something..

• How to update "Estimated File Size"

As I fiddle around with my Export Settings (CS4), I don't see any update in the "Estimated File Size" info at the bottom left of the screen.
It seems to me that as I move the Target Bitrate and Maximum bitrate (as well as the other options), I would see the Estimated File size increase or decrease so I can have real time feedback on my settings.
Is there a setting I need to change or a command I need to make in order to see an updated "Estimated File Size"?
Thanks

Nevermind. I see that the sliders do indeed give me a reak time updated file size. Don't know how I missed it.

• How to open illustrator file (.ai) using Indesign and save it as XML

I know how to open a Illustrator file (.ai) in Indesign.
It would be like :
1 ) Save your Illustrator file as AI. This Native format is most compatible with InDesign.
2 ) Go to -> InDesign, click on your document using your Frame Rectangle tool (the one with the X through it).
3 ) Fill in the desired size (can be adjusted later).
5 ) Go to File menu > Place.
6 ) Find and select the Illustrator file in the window that opens.
7 ) Click the Open button.
Adjust size, & position of your image using the Direct Selection tool (white arrow), and the cropping with the Seclection tool (black arrow.
Now I want to save this file as XML.
After that,  I say
1 )  File -> Export
But this file saves as XML only shows he the root element nothing else.
Every time , this shows like

<Root></Root>
Nothing is there as contents.
Can anyone let me know, is it possible to store .AI file as XML.
My requirement is simple, i want to store the .ai file as XML.
Some how I am using Indesign to do so . Can any body help.
Thanks,

Copy and paste is again seems same as 'Place the file' , it wouldn't help again.
Copy( from Illustrator) and paste( it in Indesign) and later saving\exporting as XML again create the same the XML file with no data . Just a XML structure,

<Root />
RRegarding using the FXG and SVG file .. saving these formats to XML does not shows the Co-ordinates in XML formats.
I do I would like to have the coordinates (x,y) so that later on , if required I can change the coordinates and display the Image or Text in the file. As this is a requirement for business card.

• How to import Illustrator files in DW?

Hi there,
How do you import Illustrator file as a background image in
DW. I've tried Save for web in Illustrator, but the DW is not
recognising the files. I saved as .svg in Illustrator, and yet
again no joy with DW.
Many thanks

You would have to save the image as a JPG or GIF image and
then you can
place it in DW, using CSS.

• Updating Illustrator files in Flash Library

Hi, thanks for viewing.
I am working with a CS3 fla that's library is an Illustrator
file. Is there any way to update the imported library in one move?
It seems tha you can only re-import the AI file and pick and choose
which new elements to include.
Many Thanks
Frank

Their is no functionality to "auto-link" - you will have to
re-import the AI into flash if you want to see the reflected
changes. One thing you could do is save all X layers out in SVG's -
then edit the SVG's individually - then you could right click on
the SVG in the Library/Update.

• Updated Illustrator file is ignoring new Layers & content

I've been trying to create a new Flash Catalyst CS5 project based on on an Illustrator CS5 file that I have previously used for a Flash Catalyst project. However, I've added new layers as well as new objects to existing layers. On import (into a totally new project), Flash Catalyst is completely ignoring the new layers and objects, but it is updating the changes that have been made to the objects it knew about in the previous project with this Illustrator file...
Anyone come across this before? Any suggestions for a workaround? I've tried restarting Flash Catalyst, resaving the Illustrator file, creating a new unrelated Flash Catalyst file, but with no result. I'll try a reboot and failing that, see if I can locate what passes for temporary files for Flash Catalyst... and get busy with the delete button.

I've finally come up with a solution - it seems that Flash Catalyst and Illustrator were doing something behind the scenes together. I had to copy the new assets out into a new Illustrator file and then import from that!!!! Pretty big bug.

• JProgressBar,how to update in file transfer?

Hi ..
I have the following copy code that uses java nio package, how to update jProgressBar to indicate movement in file transfer?
I needn't use progress monitor...
public static void copyFile(File sourceFile, File destFile) throws IOException {
if(!destFile.exists()) {
destFile.createNewFile();
FileChannel source = null;
FileChannel destination = null;
try {
source = new FileInputStream(sourceFile).getChannel();
destination = new FileOutputStream(destFile).getChannel();
destination.transferFrom(source, 0, source.size());
//JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, destination.position());
finally {
if(source != null) {
source.close();
if(destination != null) {
destination.close();
}Thanks..
Feras

Inorder to update your progress bar, you have to have it in a different thread and update it--you also have to do the copy in segmented fashion... if you have one stream running continuously, then you cannot update anything.

• How to view Illustrator File Version in Windows XP Explorer windows

On a Mac (Leopard or Snow Leopard) I can add a Version filter to the Finder Windows List Views so I can see what versions my Illustrator Files are saved at and I can see the version and the application that created it if I Get Info on the file.
In windows XP however I cannot see any Version info even if I right click on the filter bar and add the Version Column to filter by. I also dont see any version of the files if I go under a files attributes. The only thing I can see is File Type which will only show me whatever the version of Illustrator on the machine that will open it.
The problem is that I dont want older machines that dont have CS4 to open up CS4 files but there is no way for me to tell which files are CS4 and which are saved down to CS2.
Thanks in Advance,
J

Things might be different in the most recent versions of AI, but you can always look at your .ai file in a text editor, such as Wordpad or Notepad. (I keep desktop shortcuts to both onto which I can just drag and drop files for quick looks.)
You'll have to scroll down a bit if you save with the PDF option, but you should come across some text that tells you what you want to know. It'll typically start off with the text string %!PS-Adobe-XXX.
In this particular example, the application used was AI 12.0.1 (CS2), and the file was retro-saved to version 8. (Yes, the variable name "Creator" is somewhat misleading.)
If you have the DTs or are otherwise prone to hitting keys unintentionally, open a copy of the file in your text editor to make sure you don't accidentally modify the original file.
Where did the Info that you had in the .png file come from?
I think that's a Command+I from within a Mac OS Finder listing, Larry.
