How to Updates High Availability Listener IP

Hi,
i have created SQL Server High Availability Group with listener.  Now Cluster, machine, and listener IP have changed.
pls guide me step how to updated all IP Cluster, and HA availability listener.
thx
iffi

Hi imughal,
As your description, you want to modify the listener IP address in high availability group and the IP address in cluster server.
Firstly, you could modify a listener IP address on primary replica using the following statement:
ALTER AVAILABILITY GROUP group_name
MODIFY LISTENER ‘dns_name’
ADD IP { (‘four_part_ipv4_address’,  ‘four_part_ipv4_mask’) | (‘dns_nameipv6_address’) }
For more information about the process, please refer to the article:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff878601.aspx
Secondly, you could change the IP address of network adapters in cluster server following the steps below.
1.Change the IP address of the network adapter on node A.
2.Start Cluster Administrator and open a connection to the cluster.
3.Double-click the IP Address resource to open its properties.
4.On the Parameters tab in the IP Address resource properties, make sure that the Network to Use box contains the new network as the network to use.
5.Fail all groups over to the functional node A and change the IP addresses for the network adapters in node B. Next, reboot the computer.
6.When both nodes agree on the subnets, the old networks disappear and the new networks are created. You can rename the networks at this time.
For more information about the process, please refer to the article:

  • How to configure high availability and disaster recovery? And user authenticate

We are in the process of rolling out our online help which was created using Robohelp.   In our initial rollout we will provide access to the files via our Client Portal which requires authentication.  We are also planning for our next version where we intend to implement Robohelp server functionality.
Our IT team is looking at options on how to configure for High Availability and Disaster Recovery.  It seems that Robohelp doesn't have any built-in functionality in this area.  In addition we require that our users authenticate.  The options for the server version seem to be more internally focused and we would need to solution the authentication using a third party.
Would anyone be willing to share their approach in these areas?  Would you be willing to participate in a conference call with our IT Professionals?

    Hello again
I see my good friend Peter replied to your LInkedIn post where you cross-posted the same question. For those here that have no clue what Peter stated, here it is:
What are you seeking to recover? Your projects? Your outputs? This sounds like a question more appropriate to Disaster Recovery consultants and far wider reaching than RoboHelp. To me it seems like a question your IT people should be asking direct to such consultants who would expect a fee for their advice.
I would agree with Peter's reply.
I'll also go further and ask what exactly is being done in this realm for the application? Help files generally are there to support an application on the server. So whatever you are doing for the applciation should also be able to be used for the WebHelp, FlashHelp or web based AIR Help files, no?
    Cheers... Rick

  • How about a "High Availability Certification"

I think it would be great if there was a "High Availability Certification".
It would prove the ability to combine: RAC, Data Guard, RMAN and maybe Golden Gate.
Basically a certification showing knowledge of MAA.
    Let's hear some opinions on this . . .

  • How to enable high availability on SQL Server 2005 with Windows Server 2008 Enterprise R2

    Dear Folks,
I would like to ask you about this thing. I'm working for IT department for bank in Myanmar. Our bank have up to 96 branches across all of Myanmar including H.O. We are using Microsoft SQL Server 2005 with Windows Server 2008 for our banking
information system. My main problem is having to backup and restore the database backup files every time the servers in branches goes down for whatever reasons. I want to deploy this feature of high availability and failover cluster using Windows Server 2008
and SQL Server 2005. Our branches have 2 Servers. One is for Primary and other is for Backup. What I want to do is that, I want to change Backup Server to Primary Server whenever the Primary Server goes down for whatever reasons. All the working data and databases
from Primary will immediately replicated into Backup Server along with all the IP information of Primary Server. Please give me step by step guide for this process.

    Try below

  • How to setup high availability and high precision Local NTP Service in Server2008R2?

    Hi guys,
We have some servers on VMs, and we hope that the error between 2 server's clock MUST be smaller than 1 sec.
For some reason, these servers can't access the internet. So, we suggest that we should setup some local NTP servers.
For example, we want servers[10.10.10.1~10.10.10.6] to be the NTP server, and all clocks on servers[10.10.10.1~10.10.10.120] are synchronized automatically. How can we config NTP servers and clients?
And when some NTP server's system clock changed suddenly(e.g. when some physical machine is down, and we move the VM onto a new one. The system clock may change.) How can we detected the change and fix the error?
BTW, it says that "The W32Time service is not a full-featured NTP solution that meets time-sensitive application needs and is not supported by Microsoft as such." (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc773263(v=ws.10).aspx).
Can we still use W32TIME? Because Non-microsoft software may cause a VERY LONG term examination in our company, and we prefer a microsoft solution.
    Sorry for the bad english.
    Kind regards,
    M.Sheng
    Alexander

    Hi sjmind,
In domain environment, all computer clocks in an AD DS domain are synchronized with the time of an authoritative computer. Many factors can affect time synchronization on
    a network.
An AD DS forest has a predetermined time synchronization hierarchy. The Windows Time service synchronizes time between computers within the hierarchy, with the most accurate
reference clocks at the top. Therefore it is impossible to use multi computer as the authority of time source.
You can refer the following KB to plan how to sync your domain computer time.

  • Timesten high availability question

I have a case presented here and wanted to know if it is actually possible to implement.
Let us consider four nodes with timesten (11.2) installed in all of them. A datastore with the same name is created on each of the four servers. Two of these servers are in location A and the other two in location B. Servers in location A have replication defined between them and similarly servers in B have replication defined between them. But note that there is no replication defined between any server in location A with any server in location B.
The basic idea of this entire setup is to maintain high availability of timesten at any point of time (in case of natural disasters, etc..) irrespective of the location of the servers
Now, we have oracle software installed in four other systems. Two of these servers are in location A and the other two are in location B. Note that they are not installed on the same box as Timesten.
    Scenario 1:
Question: Timesten in location A goes down, how is the high availability taken care of?
Answer: Timesten in the other server in location A should come up and because of the replication process, this will solve the problem.
Is this correct? I think it is.
    Scenario 2:
Question: Timesten installed on both the nodes at location A go down, how is high availability taken care of?
    Answer: ?
Please remember from above that timesten does not have a replication policy defined between any server in location A with any server in location B. The requirement says that we should be able to recover all the latest data that the nodes at location A had, by pulling it from oracle DB at location A and putting it into TT server in location B. I would like to know if it is possible to do this?

    Hello,
Your approach is correct in designing a Disaster Recovery architecture for TimesTen and Oracle Database. TimesTen supports an Active-Standby pair topology that works well with integrating with the Oracle database within a particular site. However, like for any geographical based replication, it is recommended to configure replication across the WAN using the Oracle Database GoldenGate or Streams technologies in ASYNC mode for better throughput and efficiency. It is also recommended to compress replication traffic across the WAN between the Oracle databases.
So while using the Oracle Database to replicate transactions across the WAN is the right thing to do (using Streams Replication or GoldenGate between the two Oracle databases (assuming using an Oracle RAC 2-node cluster in each site), you will not be able to guarantee that any transactions in site A has made it to site B. GoldenGate and Streams technologies have the ability to replicate the data bi-directionally. What this means is that when site A recovers, transactions that had been trapped there (either between TimesTen and the Oracle DB or in the Oracle DB transaction logs), will attempt to replicate again to site B, so it is important to set up a conflict detection/resolution approach which is possible to do in either GoldenGate or Streams.
Note that Oracle Data Guard replication is not supported with TimesTen in such a configuration across the WAN where TimesTen datastores need to be maintained in both sites.
To fully answer the question, however, we should get into the details of the type of cache group tables that you intend to use in TimesTen. If using TimesTen as just a read-only cache while all inserts/updates happen in the Oracle database, then OracleDB would be regarded as the database of record and it would be used to handles all changes while data changes get auto-refreshed from teh Oracle databases in each site into the respective TimesTen tables.
If the application will be looking to take advantage of fast writes into TimesTen using AWT (async writethrough cache group tables), then it is recommended to configure those tables to be DYNAMIC AWT tables so that if a failover to site B takes place and the data is not in TimesTen (but it is in the Oracle Database), it will be automatically loaded on demand as needed from the Oracle database in site B. Note however that there are restrictions that exist with DYNAMIC load on demand cache groups that you need to look into to find out whether those would work in your application's case (particularly, load on demand works only if the where clause includes an equality predicate on the primary keys, foreigh keys, or unique indexes, etc...)
To fully answer your question on non data loss across geographies, you'd have to use Synchronous replication between TimesTen and Oracle using Synchronous Writethrough Cache Groups and SYNC replication in Streams for example between the two geographies. Neither of those configurations are used to my knowledge in the field because they are very non optimal and carry huge response time expense, which slows down replication considerably and affects application response times.
My assumption also is that the need for the Oracle database is because all data does not fit into memory. If the data does fit into memory, then you could also consider a pure timesten replication across the two sites using an active-standby pair on site A and a read-only subscriber on site B that would be made ACTIVE only in the case of a disaster on site A. Once site B takes over, you can also create an active-standby pair in site B based on the newly elected ACTIVE datastore in that site. In all these cases, it is recommended to use SYNC 2-SAFE replication between TimesTen datastores in the same site and ASYNC replication between the two sites.

  • RD Web Access high availability

I'm looking for information regarding how to deploy highly available 2012 RD web access servers. There seems to be little or no information online. Does anyone have any experience of setting this up? I would like to run two RD web access servers in an active/active
model. Also can anyone give any insight into whether this role is happy to be installed on HA RDCB servers too?
    Many thanks

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
We can install the RDCB role to maintain the RDS Farm for RD Web. As per my knowledge we need to install this role on other server same on RDSH as need to use this server outside environment. We need to install RD Web and RD Gateway outside as we can access
RD Web access page, RemoteApp from internet and then connect to RD Connection Broker which will redirect to an RDSH server which all connected by RD Gateway.
But sorry to disappoint you but there is no official document for RD Web HA. As we can use of DNS round robin or other load balancing techniques. Please check below article just for reference.

  • Wireless access high availability

    Hi,
    I've this scenario:
    - two WLC 4404 located in different sites (site A and site B) with sw release 5.x
    - a wireless mesh area that is linked to these two sites
    - site A and site B are connected via L3 wired link
    - routers that act as a default gateway for the client are located in site A and site B
Reading some whitepapers on Cisco website, I understand that I have to configure WLC-A as a primary controller and WLC-B as a secondary backup controller with different mobility groups but I dont' understand where to configure default gateway IP address for my wireless clients
How is a high availability  configuration for the client connected to the wireless mesh area in this scenario?
Where should be configured the default gateway IP address for my wireless clients?
    Thanks
    antonio

is it possible to have one wlc in a city and the other wlc in another city??
Nothing wrong with this setup.  It all boils down to your routing.
then both WLCs management interfaces should be on the same vlan
Not necessary.  I have seen setups where the use the same VLANs.  I've seen setup where they use different VLANs.  Again, it all boils down to your routing.

  • Farm High Availability

we have 2 FE, 2 APP and 1 db cluster server.
How to make high availability of Farm....Central Amdin is hosted on App1.....if APP1 is down how we can make available Central Admin....both servers are running identical services...but i m unable to run central admin service on both server?

In the event your CA server goes down then you can run PSConfig and enable it on the second server.
However if you want to do it right then this article by Spence Harbar is a bit old but still the best guide i know of for load balancing CA:
