How to use a single variable in multiple schedules in bar graph

Hello Experts,
I am usiing a variable X in different schedules for creating a bar graph.This variable X is used in all schedules with different restrictions.For that reason I have to use X and follow some space after X to use it in another schedule. Is there any method to use X again base on schedule name? For example: If schedule1 then X where key=1000 and if schedule2 then X where key=2000.

How to use a single formula in multiple crosstabs

Hi, I have 2 crosstabs, each in separate subreports, which are both combined into my overall report. I'm formatting the background color of a field in each crosstab using a background color formula in each crosstab.
I'm applying the formula by right-clicking the field, selecting "Format Field," selecting the "Border" tab, then clicking the formula button next to "Background."
This works fine. However, both crosstabs use the same exact formula, so I must change it in two places every time. Is there a way to write the formula once, and use it in each crosstab?
I tried just creating a new formula from the Field Explorer and calling it in each crosstab, but I'm using "currentfieldvalue" in my formulas, and I got an error saying the function could only be used in field formatting formulas.

You are using two sub reports in one report, I don't think we can have a single formula to apply on a diffrent cross tab reports. As you said you are using CurrentFieldValue in your formula, this can be used only in cross tab field format.

    I need some advice on how to use a single variable value to compare with 2 characteristics in a Infocube.
eg : I hv 2 characteristics in Infocube
       Launch date & Closing Date
   Now I want to display report where the variable date (inputted by user) is equal to Launch Date and Closing Date.

if I right understood your situation, you have an input variable ZINPUT (related to a date 'A') and 2 others dates (yours Launch and Closing dates, 'B' and 'C').
You want to display only the rows where A(user input)=B=C.
Now you have to create 2 new variables (called ZB and ZC, related to B and C dates) NOT marked as 'ready for input' and set to 'mandatory variable entry'.
Call Transaction CMOD for the definition of the customer exit (if not already existing!).
Create a new project, maintain the short text, and assign a development class.
Goto Enhancements Assignments and assign RSR00001. Press the button components to continue.
Double-click on EXIT_SAPLRRS0_001. For documentation place the cursor on RSR00001 and use the menu Goto -> Display documentation.
Then double-click on ZXRSRU01. If the include doesnt exist you have to create it; assign a development class and a transport request.
Enter the coding:
DATA: L_S_RANGE TYPE RSR_S_RANGESID.
DATA: LOC_VAR_RANGE LIKE RRRANGEEXIT.
CASE I_VNAM.
WHEN 'ZB'.
(and you have to repeate the same code also for the variable 'ZC' !)
IF I_STEP = 2.
READ TABLE I_T_VAR_RANGE INTO LOC_VAR_RANGE

Save and activate the coding and the project.
Now go to your query and use these two new variables to restrict B and C....et voilà !!!

In left panel select the time Dimension
Then hit new variable in that
give the Name and Description for the Variable
In processing by hit Replacement Path
In reference characterisitcs use Calendar Day...
As ur intention is to use it for Date
Then in adjacent tab use
Replace variable with Query / Variable
Then u can use Offset length and offset start for controoling the display of your variable.
Use as single, multiple single, interval, selection option as uwish

Hi Dries,
Looks like you solved this, but if I can just add a small point -- when you use syntax like this:
*DIM ACCOUNT WHAT=ACC_NOT_ASSIGNED; WHERE=BAS(FIN);
*DIM TIME WHAT=Y2009.TOTAL; WHERE=BAS(Q2009.TOTAL);
each time the logic runs, it will scan through the dimension from the FIN and Q2009.TOTAL members, one level at a time, until it reaches the base members (where calc = 'n'). This may happen very quickly, if the dimension has very few levels, but could take a bit of extra time if it's a particularly deep dimension. (By which I mean many levels of hierarchy -- not some 1970's Pink Floyd musical reference.)
You may speed things up by using a member property instead of the BAS(xyz). Flag all the base members using a specific property value, and that way the logic engine can pick up the complete list of members in the WHERE clause, in a single query.
*DIM Account What=ACC_NOT_ASSIGNED; Where=[FloydProperty]="DarkSideOfTheMoon"; ...
This adds some maitenance work in the dimension, which may be problematic if your admins are changing it regularly (and will cause problems if they forget to update this particular property).
I can't predict how much time this will save you (maybe not much at all), but anyway I figure you'd want to know exactly what work you're asking the system to perform.

Hi,
You need to send the notification to a role, which can comprise one or more than one users. If you check the "Expand roles" checkbox, then a different copy of the notification will be sent to each member of the role; otherwise one notification is sent which can be viewed by all holders of the role.
You should always send a notification to a role rather than a user, anyway - roles do not go on holiday, get sick or leave the company; users do.

In order to use a local variable, you can change the mechanical action of stop button (Switch When Pressed will work), or create a property node for it and select values. You'll also have to do a lot of work changing those for loops into while loops so that you can abort them.

How to use datamerge with variable lengths of text?

Hello,
I'm looking for a way to automaticly format brochures from a database . I allready found out that datamerge lets you do this quite easily. But I encounter a problem when I use large amounts of text.
How I see it, the only solution is to reserve enough space for the larges text in order to make all of the text appear in the document. But this leaves large open spaces and even blank pages in my document when I deal with less text.
Is there a way to make the document adapt to the amount of text? So that Indesign creates more space for large amounts of text and erases blank pages when there is less text?
Maybe Datamerge isn't the right solution for my problem, I'm open to suggestions.

I'm just finishing up a directory that I build with data merge and I have the problem of variable length business descriptions, as well as some have extra mailing addresses or websites. My solution is to do it in several steps with multiple files. I do a normal merge first (and I use a single record per page for this, but only bcause that allows me to create some alphabetical lists of business names and owners's names that I can key to a listing number), then I stitch together the individual stories into a single text thread that I copy/paste into place in the final document. If you have a lot of frames, Rorohiko.com has a nifty text stitch script that will help.
One tip that helps with this method is to be sure you have a paragraph break at the end of each story so stiching the frames together maintains your paragraphs.

Using JDBC lookup, I am trying to read from a table Emp1 using a user defined function. In PI 7.0, this function returns values of a single column only even if you fire a " Select * " query. I am planning to use a global variable(array) that stores individual column values of the records returned by a "select *" query. Need pointers on as to how a global variable can be declared and used to acheive the above scenario. Kindly explain with an example. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, Can someone tell me if it's possible to share a bind variable among multiple view objects within an application module? My web page displays data from different VOs on different regions. But all data should be controlled by the same bind variable, which appears in all queries. How can I achieve this?

Best to state your JDev version, and technology stack (eg. ADF BC) when posting.
I can think of 2 approaches.
1) Create a parent VO based on SELECT :bindVar FROM dual, then create links between your other VOs and the parent
2) Create a AM client interface method that programatically sets the bind variable in each VO.
Can you specify your use case? This one tends to come up when discussing effective from/to dated queries.
