How to use ADF Query search with EJB 3.0
Hi,
In ADF guide http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/web.1111/b31974/web_search_bc.htm#CIHIJABA
The steps to create query search with ADF Business Components says:
"+From the Data Controls panel, select the data collection and expand the Named Criteria node to display a list of named view criteria.+"
But with EJB, I'm not able to find Named Criteria node. Can we use ADF query search component with EJB? If yes, can you please show me some example, tutorial etc.?
Thanks
BJ
For EJBs you'll need to implement the query model on your own.
An example of how the model should look like is in the ADF Faces components demo.

hi forum...
how to use Java WebStart with EJB ?
examples ?
thanks...
minduMindu,
WebStart will work with EJB. I use it with WebLogic Server. You have to make sure and deploy the weblogic.jar file - sign it if needed.
For signing information, look here,

Capturing data from query panel built used "ADF Query panel with table ?
Hi All,
I have a Search page built with a view Criteria.
I enter the user_name in the query panel and hit Search and the result panel shows the results.
Now If I gave a user_name which does not have any record in the VO, no data is displayed.
At this point I want to capture the user_name from the query panel and on the click of a button ("Add" button I have created for Adding Records if not present) want to navigate to a different Add page .
So how to capture the user_name from the query panel.
Any pointers ??
I am using Jdev 11.1.1.4.0
Thanks

I have an application that uses EJB 2.1 spec with SLSB (no entity beans) and uses DAO pattern with hibernate2 for persistence. I want to replace hibernate with toplink-essentials (JPA). I cannot upgrade the EJB spec version as we use some thirdparty beans. The application uses DAO pattern so I should be able to hook in a new toplink DAO impl. What I am struggling with is how do I get hold of the EntityManagerFactory in my EJB 2.1 SLSB. Also I need CMT with XA transactions as our application interacts with jms and database using MDBs and SLSBs.
PrantorYou should be able to use Persistence.createEntityManagerFactory(<your-persistence-unit-name>, properties), and create your EntityManager from that.
To have TopLink integrated with JTA, in your persistence.xml (or properties) you need to use a JTA DataSource, and set the ServerPlatform for your JEE server. -

How to use spotlight for searches with Apache w Tiger desktop intel machine
From what I've read I need to enable the
LoadModule applespotlightmodule libexec/httpd/modspotlightapple.so AddModule modspotlightapple.c
command in http.conf
however I don't find this line there,
can I just add it, where would I find the module, do I need to add it?Hi Fred,
To 'Connect', you will need to confirgure the remote Mac's router to accept ARD connections.
This is done by accessing your router via the manufacturer's software. This can usually be accessed by tapping the internal IP into a browser. You will have to get your parents to do this unless the router is setup for remote management.
Within this software, there should be a section called 'services' or 'firewall services'. You need to add five new services (1 for each of the following port numbers - 3283, 5432, 5900, 5988 & 5989), give them names like ARD1, ARD2 and so on, not critical, just helps you manage them in the future.
Within each of these new services, you 'port forward', all you need to do is input the remote Mac's internal IP number (192.168.0.xx) to every ARD service. This basically tells the router which Mac to look at when you connect via ARD.
This should be everything - if not keep asking...
Macmaggy
P.S. You did have Remote Desktop service started on the remote Mac, not yours?

ADF query panel with table, adding new search fields dynamically
I am a beginner very new to ADF world. I have a ADF query panel with table which has its source from a ViewCriteria. I need to add a new search field on the form dynamically based on the user's need. Assume I am using a Employee table and I have search "employee ID" as one field in the form, upon clicking a add button in the form I need to have a another "employee ID" field appears along with the already existing one.
I tried to add the condition in ViewCriteria but do not know how to add it ?
Could some one pls address how it can be approached ?User, please always tell us your jdev version.
Well, this use case need some thinking to be done. What do you want to archive with adding a new query field to the panel? As you said you already have one field for employeeId and now, on a click on a button, you add another one. How would the resulting query work with the new field? Should it use 'and' to concatenate the query or should it use 'or'?
I suggest that you use the ADF Riche Client Demo (http://jdevadf.oracle.com/adf-richclient-demo/faces/index.jspx) select the Query node and then select 'af:query'. This shows you what is possible otu of hte box using the af:query component. You can add fields to existing queries in advanced mode (e.g. use system query 5, which starts with an empty panel and allows you to add fields).
Once you understand how this works you may come back with a more detailed use case description or you have found the solution already. Read the documentation on af:query along with trying otu the component.

How to use ADF Faces with struts1.3.8
Hi
Can anybody guide us how to use ADF faces with Struts 1.3.8.
Your help will be appreciated.
Thanks
ChetanXpp,
Have a look at the ADF Developer's Guide for specific instructions on menus (the ADF Developer's Guide for Forms/4GL Developers has the information in section 19.2).
You can put javascript handlers on the components to get keyboard event handling.

ADF Query Panel with Tree Table -- Add Fields
I created ADF Query Panel with Tree Table using JDeveloper 11G. Under Advance Search, Add Fields pull down only list the fields in the master table. My questions are,
1) Can I search fields in detail table? If yes, how can I do it?
2) How can I customized this pull down list? Currently it just show the entire view of master table with unnecessary id type data.
Thanks in advance.
Edited by: kxc on Nov 9, 2009 9:21 AM1) Can I search fields in detail table? If yes, how can I do it?
Are there anyway to search the second level node?You can. But you need to evaluate if the arrangement works for you.
I assume you have a view link from the master to detail VO.
To do so, in your master view criteria (the one which you use in the query panel), shuttle the attributes of your detail VO (in master attributes list, you'l see the detail view link accessor - on selecting this, the detail atteributes are available to you)
In the Add Fields, it shows as student_id AND student_name. I was unable to delete the student_id field in the view since it is PKYou can set its 'display' UI hint to 'hide' in your VO. -

how can i bind the search result to the bpm payload ?
i tried to bind it directly, but it turns out error.
or do you hv a better approach to this requirement, so i can add/remove row in table dynamically ?

View Criteria in ADF Query Panel with Table-Class Cast Exception
Hi,
I am getting Class Cast Exception when using view criteria for ADF Query Panel with Table. The version I am using is 11g Release 1(11.1.1.2.0)

How to Automate the Query Search Upon Return to the Calling Form?
Greetings Ya’ll Gurus,
Could you please share with me how to make the Query Search executed automatically each time, when database table is updated, upon return to the “Calling Form” (i.e. FormA in this posting) from the “Called Form” (i.e. FormB from here on)?
I have FormA call_form to FormB. FormB may return to FormA. FormA allows users to enter the Query parameters and perform query Search to the database table with a list of search results afterward; whereas FormB allows users to add or delete the same database table records. Both form images are as follows:
FormA:
!http://dot.state.ak.us/nreg/jtomasic/FormA_DWR_SEL.GIF!
FormA call_form to FormB by clicking PB “Daily Work Report” (see circled PB "Daily Work Report" in the above image.)
FormB Image (FormB allows users to add and delete database records):
!http://dot.state.ak.us/nreg/jtomasic/FormB_DWR.GIF!
FormB EXIT_FORM and returns to FormA (see circled PB "DWR Selection" in above image).
Currently, our users must press the PB “Search” on FormA each time to refresh the Query “Search” results after returning to FormA, and they request to have the "Search" done automatically/programmatically upon return to FormA each time when the database table is updated.
If you have programming code on this and are willing to share or if you have any suggestion or thoughts on this, it would be most greatly appreciated.
Thanks a lot & Happy Holidays!Thanks so much Andreas, and yes, your link for calling a form and passing a context is very helpful. I believe, your suggested use of the global variable for the saved database table will work for the automation of the Query Search. I am, however, not sure how to make the code and the trigger to automatically perform Query PB "Search". The code for our current "WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED" Trigger for the PB-Search of FormA is as following:
DECLARE
alert_button NUMBER;
alert_id ALERT;
MY_WHERE VARCHAR2(2500);
MY_DIST_ID DIST.DIST_ID%TYPE := :BLK_UPDATE.DIST_ID;
MY_ORG_ID DWR.ORG_ID%TYPE := :BLK_UPDATE.ORG_ID;
MY_ACTY_ID DWR.ACTY_ID%TYPE := :BLK_UPDATE.ACTY_ID;
MY_ACTY_WORK_ID DWR.ACTY_WORK_ID%TYPE := :BLK_UPDATE.ACTY_WORK_ID;
MY_CNTY_ID DWR.CNTY_ID%TYPE := :BLK_UPDATE.CNTY_ID;
MY_ASSET_GRP_ID DWR.ASSET_GRP_ID%TYPE := :BLK_UPDATE.ASSET_GRP_ID;
MY_ASSET_ID DWR.ASSET_ID%TYPE := :BLK_UPDATE.ASSET_ID;
MY_RTE DWR.RTE%TYPE := :BLK_UPDATE.RTE;
MY_BEG_MP DWR.BEG_MP%TYPE := :BLK_UPDATE.BEG_MP;
MY_END_MP DWR.END_MP%TYPE := :BLK_UPDATE.END_MP;
MY_FROM_DATE DWR.DWR_DATE%TYPE := :BLK_CONTROL.FROM_DATE;
MY_TO_DATE DWR.DWR_DATE%TYPE := :BLK_CONTROL.TO_DATE;
MY_FLAG_OFFSYS VARCHAR2(11) := :BLK_UPDATE.FLAG_OFFSYS;
MY_FLAG_COMMENTS VARCHAR2(11) := :BLK_UPDATE.FLAG_COMMENTS;
MY_SPECIAL_EVENT_SEQ_NO SPECIAL_EVENT.SPECIAL_EVENT_SEQ_NO%TYPE := :BLK_UPDATE.SPECIAL_EVENT_DESCR;
MY_FLAG_ACCDT VARCHAR2(11) := :BLK_UPDATE.FLAG_ACCDT;
BEGIN
:blk_control.dummy_flag := 1 ;
:BLK_CONTROL.DUMMY_ERR_FLAG := 'N';
VALIDATION_SELECTION; -- Program Unit VALIDATES DWR SELECTION PARAMETERS PRIOR TO
-- PERFORMING THE SEARCH AND POPULATING THE DISPLAY BLOCK
if :blk_control.dummy_flag = 1 then
IF :BLK_CONTROL.DUMMY_ERR_FLAG = 'N' THEN
MY_WHERE := BUILD_WHERE_CLAUSE(MY_DIST_ID,
MY_ORG_ID,
MY_ACTY_ID,
MY_ACTY_WORK_ID,
MY_CNTY_ID,
MY_ASSET_GRP_ID,
MY_ASSET_ID,
MY_RTE,
MY_BEG_MP,
MY_END_MP,
MY_FROM_DATE,
MY_TO_DATE,
MY_FLAG_OFFSYS,
MY_SPECIAL_EVENT_SEQ_NO,
MY_FLAG_ACCDT,
MY_FLAG_COMMENTS);
SET_BLOCK_PROPERTY('BLK_DISPLAY', DEFAULT_WHERE, MY_WHERE);
GO_BLOCK('BLK_DISPLAY');
CLEAR_BLOCK(NO_VALIDATE);
EXECUTE_QUERY(ALL_RECORDS);
IF :BLK_DISPLAY.DWR_SEQ_NO IS NOT NULL THEN
SET_ITEM_ON_OR_OFF('BLK_CONTROL.PB_PRINT', TRUE);
ELSE
SET_ITEM_ON_OR_OFF('BLK_CONTROL.PB_PRINT', FALSE);
alert_id := FIND_ALERT('no_data_query');
IF ID_NULL(alert_id) THEN
error_msg(1000);
ELSE
set_alert_message(alert_id, 1040);
alert_button := SHOW_ALERT(alert_id);
END IF;
END IF;
GO_BLOCK('BLK_UPDATE');
GO_ITEM('BLK_CONTROL.PB_SEARCH');
END IF;
end if;
END;My questions are:
After initializing, set and/or reset the global variable for the saved database table,
do I copy the above code (i.e. the "entire" code in the "WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED" Trigger for the PB-Search) to the WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE-trigger, or other trigger(s), of FormA to automate the Query Search whenever there is a successful database commit/save? Or
is there a simple way to activate the code in the "WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED" Trigger for the PB-Search of FormA? Or
is there a simple way to activate the EXECUTE_QUERY(ALL_RECORDS) command in the WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE-trigger or other trigger(s) of FormA ?
Thanks and always.
