How to use an Adobe interactive form in an Application service operation?

Hi,
I have a peculiar requirement here:
The user wants that on the trigger of a specific operation an operation of the Application service should get invoked: this operation should pick up a Adobe form template from a destination and then prefill this forms with some values and then store the same in the backend DMS.
It's very easy to accomplish this task in WD Java with the use of Interactive form element but here we don't want any kind of user interaction for these forms, just the form templates will be prefilled with some dynamic values and then the same will be saved as is.
Can some one please provide some insight into how the same can be acieved, any API's etc?.
Please reply ASAP.
Regards,
Manish

  • Questions concerning the use of Adobe Interactive Forms

    Hi All,
I have two questions that I would to see if I could get an answer to.
    1) Has or can one use an Adobe Interactive form on a Tablet PC to allow a user to draw, say a small diagram or map, and have that image then stored in an R/3 database?
    2) I may already know the answer to this, but want to verify it anyway. Can Adobe Interactive forms be used to provide data to other applications outside of SAP using NetWeavers J2EE or .Net API?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Mark

    Hello!
    1) As far as I know (and can see in Adobe Designer opened at my PC right now) there are no standard controls
in the library that can be used to add drawing (ink) area to the form. Maybe external are available, but unlikely.
Even more, googling shoes that Adobe itself is not eager to support ink in their Acrobat products... Pity but so.
So my answer for the first question is "NO".
    2) That depends on what you mean on "providing data to other applications outside of SAP using NetWeaver J2EE and .NET".
If you are using NetWeaver J2EE than you are still using SAP.
If you want to install SAP's ADS server on J2EE server from another vendor, than it is not a good idea:
First - it should be merely legal to use SAP software like this.
Second - Adobe's standalone forms solution (Link: [Adobe LiveCycle Forms ES|http://www.adobe.com/products/livecycle/]) should be cheaper.
On the other hand, if you create a simple form in LifeCycle Designer not inside SAP, but launched standalone and
set this form to send data to let's say XML-service, than there is no problem to use any other server application / platform.
It's just have to be a web-service like: support HTTP-requests with XML inside.
In the last case still the question persists "why use SAP in this case?"
Just few ERP 2005 licenses will cost more, than entire Adobe product line, so maybe you have to change the platform?

  • Adobe Interactive forms for Managerial self service

    Hi All,
We need Adobe Interactive forms for Managerial self service in Portal.
When i goto transaction SFP, and check any of the interactive forms ie ISR_FORM_SPEG for example, and click the Layout button, i get the blank form, even the PDF format shows me a blank page.
Has anyone faced a similar problem? If so, can you please tell me the reason for this error and how to rectify it?
    Thanks in advance,
    Aditi

    Hi Pavan,
Thanks for replying..i found a note (843279) which has a similar problem as mine..it says logon as "DE" and then copy the form . When i do that, i get a popup window asking me userid and password for Adobe configuration services, which means i need to check whether Adobe configuration is proper or not.
Ill do that and see how things proceed.
    Thanks,
    Aditi

  • Firefox 3 crash when using an adobe interactive forms

    Hello,
Because Firefox 2.0 isn't supported anymore by Mozilla, we plan to migrate to Firefox 3.
When we display an Adobe Interactive Forms in Firefox 3, the browser crashes. We have reinstalled Firefox 2 and it works again.
We tried with Adobe Reader 8.1.2 or 9.0.
I've checked different sapnotes like 1089062 - FireFox Limitations for
    Unified Rendering and ACF
Does anyone met the same issue and/or solved it ?
    Regards,
    LTN Redondie Simon
    Steps for Reconstruction
    - Log into SAP portal with Firefox 3.0
    - Display an adobe interactive forms
    - Click on "save" or "close" button and the web browser crashes
Edited by: Simon REDONDIE on Feb 3, 2009 5:15 PM

Thank you for your answer, we did not start the deployment of FF3 yet.
FF3 support is still under development (for NW 7.1)
Do you mean that Firefox 3 will not be supported on NW 7.0 ?

  • Using Wforms (Adobe interactive forms) in lieu of shopping cart creation

Our users complain of too much data entry during shopping cart creation and less frequent users complain about forgetting GL a/c and product ID. In talking to SAP their suggestion is to implement Wforms to avoid end users logging into SRM and rather enter relevant details on wform and then convert it to Shopping cart.
Has anyone implemented and can share how the experience has been, how difficult it to to implement wforms and support thereafter.I undertsand that wforms had issues in the past but SAP now claims to have overcome all those limitations. Please share your experience.

    Hi Ruchi,
Did you say SAP proposed that you use WFORMS in place of SRM Shopping Cart?? I am not entirely sure we are quite there yet! There is lots of details available [here |http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/adobe]which describe SAP interactive forms. Maybe this will help you. But I am surprised your users find the SC creation difficult, especially the 4 step wizard, can you not assign default values to many of these areas where they are having trouble? (GL accounts etc)

  • Submit Button Adobe Interactive forms in webdynpro application

    Hi All,
I have a webdynpro requirement which contains only ineractive Fom ( Adobe From).
In adobe Form i have inserted webdynpro activeex Submit Button.
When i run my webdynpro application.I am not able click on the submit button and it is not triggering the backend logic.
Can anybody please let me know how can i solve this issue.
    Thanks,
    Taragini

    Hi Tarangini,
As how suggested by Thomas ensure that the button type which you are using within your Adobe form matches the "displayType" property that you have specified for the InteractiveForm UI element within your Web Dynpro component. Also specify an event name to be triggered when the user clicks on the Adobe form button. This can be done by specifying a value for onSubmit property of the InteractiveForm. Also ensure that your Adobe form is enabled by having the "enabled" checkbox property of the InteractiveForm checked.

  • Is it possible to use Adobe Interactive Forms in SAP (ABAP) Trial Version?

    Dear All,
i need some help concerning the usage of Adobe Interactive Forms in SAP (ABAP) Trial Version.
I installed SAP Netweaver 7.01 (ABAP Trial Version) and i would like to use the Adobe Interactive Form editor (transaction SFP). Is this trial version prepared for this? Is it possible to edit and test Interactive Forms in the ABAP Trial Version too?
Somebody told me that he installed Adobe Lifecycle Designer 7.1 but the layout manager part of the editor shortdumped when he wanted to go back to other  parts of the editor or he wanted to save what he did...
Is it enough to install Adobe Lifecycle Designer 7.1? Is there something else to install or configure?
Thank you for your help in advance.
    All the best, P. Phil.

Yes, you need the lifecycle designer installed.  That should be enough to work with the SFP transaction.  But to actually use the form, I think you do need the ADS(Adobe Document Services) which runs on the java stack.

  • Adobe Interactive Form - How to disable Adobe toolbar in my View

    Hello Expert,
we are starting to use the Adobe Interactive Form in our webDynpro (java) project.
We would like to offer to our users an interactive form and to save the data inserted by the users in a database.
So we add a "Submit Button" in our form, the button il linked to the method "onActionSubmit()" in the view implementation.
But we want to force the users to press it before to save/stamp the pdf form.
Is possible to disable the Adobe toolbar, that offers command like "stamp" or "save as", until the users press the "Submit Button"?
    Thanks in Advance

  • Credentials to use adobe interactive form

    Hi
I see an OSS note that talks about creating a OSS ticket to SAP requesting them for credentials to use an adobe interactive form.
We are on ECC 5.0 ( WAS 640 ) and intend to generate an adobe interactive form using a combination of adobe livecycle designer ( T.code SFP ) and an ABAP application program that sets the generated pdf property to fillable = 'X'
Question is - is there any extra licensing code required to get this credentials to SAP.
    Please reply.

    Hi Karthik,
Please refer to the below note for your reference on Interactive form licensing:
    eason and Prerequisites
The interactive use of PDF forms may be subject to license under certain circumstances.
    Solution
Using the tools and using print forms (not interactive) is part of the license of the relevant SAP solution (including NetWeaver).
If the following three criteria apply to you, you must purchase an additional license from SAP for your SAP Interactive Forms:
You create templates for interactive forms.
You create your own customer-specific interactive form templates or change an interactive form template delivered by SAP by adding further interactive fields or changing the data binding of existing interactive fields to the back-end.
(Such modifications exceed cosmetic changes in form templates delivered by SAP such as adding your own logo or static texts, and are therefore subject to license.)
You use interactive forms in a productive system, that is, end users fill in generated PDF forms during business operations.
Note that the additional license also affects interactive forms used by SAP partners (independent software vendors - ISV), who deliver these forms as part of their products developed on the SAP NetWeaver platform.
Current information about licensing is also available on SAP Service Marketplace at http://service.sap.com/Adobe --> FAQs.
The license for SAP Interactive Forms is an official SAP license. For further details, consult your contact person in your local SAP sales office.

  • Using Adobe Interactive Forms In releaser 470

    Dear all.
I need to know if its possibel to used the Adobe Interactive forms in the following way:
         - My applications System is at 470 Release.
         - Install the SAP Netweaver AS in other System.
Using this scenario the SAP System 470, transfer information to the SAP Netweaver AS and the Printing (Say created the Forms and Adobe Interactive Forms and created PDF Based Print Forms).
       Is this scenario correct?
    Best Regards
    Thanks in advanced
    PMR

    Hi Pedro
in principle, this is the way you need to set up your landscape to work with a 4.7 system.
<b>However</b>: If you read the FAQ here in <a href="http://sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/interactiveforms">SDN</a> or in the <a href="http://service.sap.com/adobe">SAP Service Marketplace</a>, you'll see that SAP explicit recommends <b>NOT</b> to use this setup for printing scenarios. This is due to possible issues with performance expectations.
You are welcome to use this setup for interactive scenarios.

  • Use of Adobe Interactive Forums

    Hi,
We have been asked to evaluate the use of Adobe Interactive Forms with SAP's External Service Management. The client desires to provide external contractors with Adobe Interactive Forms representing the SAP Service Entry Sheet. The external contractor will complete and submit the form which can then be uploaded into the Service Entry Sheet.
Additionally, there may be a requirement for a similar upload functionality with respect to a CATS timesheet.  For their supplemental workforce, the client desires the ability to track time in CATS, and then use the 'CATM' transaction code to transfer time from CATS to a Service Entry Sheet in order to post the costs to a work order.  Thus, the information required would be if the client has the ability to provide external contractors with an Adobe Interactive Form that mirrors the CATS timesheet, which will then be completed and uploaded into the SAP system in the CATS module.
Our team is currently weighing the viability of multiple options, with the use of Adobe Interactive Forms being one of them.  Any information on possible technical solutions, feasibility, architecture for the use of Adobe Interactive Forms would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
