How to use data in Word or Excel?

Hi,
I know that we can use PDF-printing in apex 3.0. But I dont want install apache fo or oracle publisher on my server.
Do I have other ways to show data in an Word-Document?
One idea is that I press in apex a button and data from some fields are written in a table. After that apex runs Word and open a Word-Document (is this possible?) and Word shows me the data via ODBC-connection.
Is this possible to do? Or what can I do else to show data in a predifined Word-Document?

all solutions needs a lot of work. Now I install pdf-printing. This is possible with the free Apache Tomcat. Its very easy. Its described here:

Did you not see my answer for CASE because CASE does indeed offer the use of the BETWEEN clause, but DECODE does not. Let me give you a little synopsis of DECODE.
In its most simple form it takes 4 values and looks like this: DECODE(A, B, C, D)
This essentially means, IF A = B THEN C ELSE D
The trick to solving BETWEEN in a DECODE is to work out algoriths where A = B. Because we don't know how many values are between 00 and 99, although I could guess there were 100 we could of course have 100 parts in the DECODE but that would be awful. How about if we look at it another way and say this:
IF PART_NUMBER < 'SDK00' THEN pay_amount
ELSE IF PART_NUMBER > 'SDK99' THEN pay_AMOUNT
ELSE pay_amount + 100
This statement only had 2 hard coded values, but how to make DECODE work with less than? Easy, we use the LEAST function. The LEAST function takes 2 values and returns the one with the lowest value. So I use LEAST(PART_NUMBER, 'SDK00') then whenever the PART_NUMBER is lower than SDK00 it will be true. A similar situation exists for the opposite function GREATEST. Putting all of this together then, you can do this:
DECODE(PART_NUMBER, GREATEST(PART_NUMBER, 'SDK00'), DECODE(PART_NUMBER, LEAST(PART_NUMBER, 'SDK99'), PAY_AMOUNT * 100, PAY_AMOUNT), PAY_AMOUNT)
In English this can be read as follows:
IF the PART_NUMBER is greater than or equal to SDK00 and the PART_NUMBER is less than or equal to SDK99 THEN PAY_AMOUNT x 100 ELSE 0

How to get data from an existing Excel file using report generation toolkit

I'm trying to use the Excel Get Data vi from the report generation toolkit, but i can't figure out how to turn a browsable path into the right type for the VI. I've tried using the New Report.vi, but that doesn't work unless you use a template. It won't open an existing excel file and make it an open report to pull data from.
Essentially, i have a bunch of excel files that have data in them and i want to use a VI to analyze the data. So, i'm trying to pull in all the data directly from the excel file so i don't have to reproscess them all into text so i can use the more standard spreadsheet VIs. But to even convert the excel file programtically in labview won't i still need to be able to open the excel file and get the data?

Got it,
the reason why I can view it using my Excel file because its in .CSV.
I open Microsoft Excel to open .CSV file.
But you can also open .csv file with notepad.
So, you cannot open .xls with Read Spreadsheet File

How do I automate a large catalog with several unique sections using Data Merge and Microsoft Excel?

My boss would like me to use data merge to create a catalog with 300+ pages and unique data fields on almost every page. It is an informational catalog that would contain pictures and several unique fitment and specification fields for each product that we sell and manufacture on each page. For years the catalog was made and modified manually in quark express. Is it possible to use data merge to recreate such a complex document? Does anyone have any useful reccomendations or links for tackling this project? I really appreciate any advice or help.

How to Save Data from DataGrid to Excel Sheet?

I am trying to use Adobe Flex 3.0 for making web pages.
I want to save the data from DataGrid and Advanced DataGrid of Adobe Flex 3.0 to Excel Sheet file. I am trying Flex Help, but didn't find answer for it.
In the application there is a button for 'save' by pressing which the 'Save As' window should appear.
And giving the path to the '.xls' file, the data from DataGrid should be saved on that location in .xls format.
This is my requirement.
If anybody knows how to do this please help.

Using document.applet.saveAsCSVFile(); code you can not get data in proper format.
For one of my application i have stored the data from Grid to excel.
But i am not sure about Adobe Flex 3.0, my code will work or not.
Also you need to make the "Initialize and Script Activex Control Not marked as Safe" as enabled in your IE.
You can share ur email. So that i can send the code. Here I am not able to paste the code.

I have few tough questions for which I haven't found an answer. I hope someone is capable to help me.
1. Is there a transaction to search tables if we know the field?
2. I'd like to define a local field and need to use dates in the calculation function. So basically I need to calculate the lean-time from the date of the purchase order (field BSTDK) to the date of the final delivery (field PLIFTS) and the result should be displayed in weeks. How can I do this? Or can I?
3. Can I use the local fields further in my calculations?

Hi BW people,
Since we want to modify our reports for printing (and the How-To about enhancement of web printing does not really answer to our requirements) it seems that the Excel alternative is just what we were looking for.
Unfortunately I have been working with these classes for 6 hours now to get a very simple Excel file, but without success. I did fix the bug like Thomas Kauffman told on the forum, changed the dataprovider and prefixes and I followed every single step of the How-To document(also the check of folder options to open/save the .xls file),... The only thing that happens: the URL has changed (bookmark) and the page is reloaded again.
So no Excel file, neither a dialogue box. I also walked -a very long time- through the code (in debugging mode) starting from ZCL_RSR_XLS_HELP_WINDOW_PRINT->PROCESS_CMD but I can't find anything!
Is there anybody with the same problem and -better- with a possible solution to it?

How to use Data Navigation in OBIEE11g

I read an article about BIEE 10g feature: Data Navigation (click on a record in Analytics report1 and corresponding drill down data show in Analytics report2). I found that there are some setting "Type: Navigate" in "Value Interaction" should be set in Tab: "Column Format" of Column properties in BIEE 10g (pls refer to: http://gerardnico.com/wiki/dat/obiee/navigation).
However, I didn't find these setting in OBIEE 11g. How do I use Data Navigator in OBIEE 11g? Is this features is disabled?

The column in Criteria you should give the *Filter*
2. Table.Column -> Column Properties -> Interaction -> Value (Primary Interaction) -> Action Links -> Add (+ Symbol in Green color) -> Action -> Click *Navigate to BI Content* -> Select the Report from the Shared folder -> OK and Save the report.

can anyone explain how to use use this function EXEC_SQLCMD_MSQ in Excel to get the result.
I have written excel macro to use this function, statement like "Select * from t001" but the function doesn't reply any value.
My objective is to pass the (any, generalised)
sql statment to this function and get the result in Excel file.

U can do the same in ur report.

I guess you can do it message mapping by defining source and destination date types, using date functions currentDate, DateTrans, DateBefore, DateAfter, CompareDates
By default, format of date is
xsd:date
Value is interpreted as date in format CCYY-MM-DD (according to the enhanced representation of ISO 8601).
The abbreviations mean the following:
CC: Century
YY: Year
MM: Month
DD: Day
