How to use form name in struts html:form tag

Hi,
I want to validate text box value, if it is ordinary html form I would have done like this <form name="myform" action="xxxx.jsp" onsubmit="return validate()">
But am using struts html:form tags. In this case how can I use/specify name for a form.
Can any one help me.

The name of the form comes from the actionForm you have defined backing it.
View source on the generated page to see what HTML it constructs.
You are able to use the onsubmit event with the <html:form> tag just like the standard one, so if all you want to do is that:
<html:form action="/saveUser" onsubmit="return validate()">
...You can also give it a styleId, which will generate an id in the HTML.

better alternative: populate your formbean with your action and just have:
<html:text styleId="instruction" styleClass="text" size="50" property="instruction"/>
If you set the "instruction" property of your formBean in the action, the value will be automagically reflected here.

How to use buttons in hcm process and forms?

Hi Experts,
I want to know how to use buttons in HCM process and form.
And when i click on the button it was validating all the fields and it was throwing an error ( complete SACHP fields) i am not using this filed in any where of my form.

You do not need to add this field to your list. In the view V_T588MFPROPS (SAP delivered), this field is set as mandatory. In configuration, you must maintain the view V_T588MFPROPC (Customer area) and make sure the field is not set to mandatory. This will override the SAP delivered setting and the error message will be not be displayed.

But this tag contains the titleKey attribute.

Very big problem with JSF about FORM and "id=" for HTML form's elements and

I have discovered a very big problem with JSF about FORM and "id=" for HTML form's elements and java instruction "request.getParameterNames()".
Suppose you have something like this, to render some datas form a Java Beans :

Everything works fine...
Suppose you want to get the name/value pairs for id="nameTableDb2" and #{current.db2_name_table} to process them in a servlet. Here is the HTML generated :

You think you can use the java instructions :

YOU ARE WRONG : request.getParameterNames() wants the syntax *name="nameTableDb2" but JSF must use id="nameTableDb2" for "<h:outputText"... So, you can't process datas in a FORM generated with JSF in a Servlet ! Perhaps I have made an error, but really, I wonder which ?

While I certainly appreciate ejb's helpful responses, this thread shows up a difference in perspective between how I read the forum and how others do. Author ejb is correct in advising you to stay inside JSF for form processing if form processing is what you want to do.
However, I detect another aspect to this post which reminds me of something Marc Andreesen once said when he was trying to get Netscape off the ground: "there's no such thing as bad HTML."
In this case, I interpret ungar's request as a new feature request. Can I phrase it like this?
"Wouldn't it be nice if I could render my nice form with JSF but, in certain cases, when I REALLY know what I'm doing" just post out to a separate servlet? I know that in this case I'll be missing out on all the nice validation, conversion, l10n, i18n, ajax, portlet and other features provided by JSF".
If this is the case, because it really misses the point of JSF, we don't allow it, but we do have an issue filed for it

Struts html:iterate tag

Hello all,
Does anyone know if the struts html:iterate tag can be used to iterate through an ArrayList? Can you populate a html:radio tag with such an iterator?

I have an ArrayList object that contains a collection of Listing objects.
The Listing object has two methods getID, getName
In the ActionForm there is a variable listingData of List type. How can I use the logic:iterate tag to traverse the ArrayList object and display the id and name of the ListingObjects?

Query on struts html:optionsCollection tag !

I've a query on struts <html:optionsCollection tag. I'm trying to render the values of an arraylist using the optionsCollection . The arraylist is stored as a part of form object. But the issue is that each row of arraylist contains a string data. The arraylist is returned by a remote process.Now, when I use the following struts code,
<html:select property="userProxy" size="1" >
<html:optionsCollection property="userProxy" value="" label=""/>
</html:select>
what shud be the value for value and label , as the arraylist contains only one string per row . The userProxy is the arraylist field defined in the form object.
My question, will I be able to use the <html:optionsCollection tag in this scenerio ?

The html:optionsCollection tag is designed to work with a collection of beans, each with a "label" and "value" attribute.
If you only have a list of strings, then you probably want to use the html:options tag.
Note that your ActionForm should have two attributes
// form bean"
String userProxy; //stores the currently selected userProxy
List userProxyList; //list of userProxies.
// assume appropriate get/set methods

Hi... I am having a problem when I try to use Autocomplete = "OFF" on my jsp page using struts...
my question is how to use autocmplete on html:form / text tag? to disable autocomplete!

The "value" for the checkbox comes from nested content inside the <html:multibox> tag - in this case you are using "item"
"items" is the complete list of items
"selectedItems" should be a String[] of all the selected values.
Each time it adds a checkbox, it compares "item" with its array of "selectedItems".
If "item" is in there, then the box is populated as "selected" otherwise not.
Does that explain it?

your form has no name liek this one:
<html:form action="/userRegistration.do" >so you cannot access the elements inside your form?
accessing the elements inside the form will be like this:
document.forms[0].propertyName.value;

Struts html:form vs form

Hi,
I'm trying to get form validation working in struts but am running into a bit of difficulty. I have a couple of questions:
1) When an ActionError is returned - does the input form have to have used <html:form> tags for the errors to be shown. The reason i ask is because at the moment i am using the original <form> tags and when the request is returned to the input page there is just a blank page - i though this might be because i am not using the specialised struts html tags? This leads nicely on to my 2nd question... :o)
2)Now the reason i am not using these tags is because when i try and create a form using these tags the text input areas/buttons etc do not appear - here is my code:

1.check your Action to see if the forward is ok (I think that your forward=... is not reachable if you have some errors)
2.delete property="date" from <html:errors.../>
3.close <table>tag
4.delete <html:html> and </html:html> from your code
5.maybe you have some errors in your and you have errorPage=""

I thing use uix and struts together would be amazing but ...

Unfortunately, we do not support uix elements inside struts form element.
