How to use Genericity

Hey all :-)
I'm trying to get my app as smooth as I can and am currently having problems getting it to run on anything under JRE1.5. At the moment i'm using Vector's to stora arrays for use in JComboBox's...
If I compile theprogram with -Xlint:unchecked I get the following:
[unchecked] unchecked call to add(E) as a member of the raw type java.util.Vector
I know I can use Objects for the array list but not sure how to do so as i've never used them.
Can someone please post an example of an Object array?
Thanks :-)

Ok I've fixed it :-)
However, when I run the app with JRE 1.4.2 I get the following error:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: rDesktopGui (Unsupported major.minor version 49.0)

Does anyone know why this could be?

    You haven't explained what object and object key you're using, nor have you provided any indication of how you implemented the GOS attachment functionality.  You need to provide more information to resolve an issue like this.

  • How to use generic webservice methods in java

    Hi,
    I am working on jdk1.5 and axis web service client version 1.3.
    I am calling webservice which developed in wcf service using .net ,Extesion like .svc?asmx
    input of webservice method is generic like list<IEmployee>
    When i try to call in cleint side , it is showing like object[] array.
    but it has to show like list<object>
    May i know solution for this.
    Thanks,
    Murali

    Hi konanki,
    Web services are using SOAP as protocol and SOAP has been designed for interoperability between computers installed with different platforms : Java, .Net, PHP, ...
    As List<IEmployee> or List<Object> are specific to Java language, they are translated in a way understandable for other platforms. Just have a look to your WSDL file.

  • OWSM: How to use Generic Key in Credential Store 11g

    Hi there,
    I am facing the following issue with the Weblogic Credential Store Framework (CSF):
    Context:
    I have a web service exposed somewhere in a Tomcat server. This service is not secured, initially it was, but the idea was to deport it to a mediator using OWSM WS policy . The service internally extracts the username from SOAP Header and perform some authorization checks prior performing some business logic.
    So our idea was first to configure a new authentication provider in the default Weblogic's realm to hit our LDAP system. When this was done, we created a simple composite to virtualize the web service and apply a WS Security with username. In order to do that, we did create a new key in the Credential Store under oracle.wsm.security.map and declare our username + password for a particular user in LDAP. We tested it and it works fine!
    Issue: Now we want to leverage this using any user from the authentication provider. We created a new key which has the type "Generic" on the entreprise manager. We don't know though what to do next to specify "every user in our authentication provider", the documentation here is very evasive and we are stick to guess the grammar the CSF expects. We saw that WSLT could be used too to create the key.
    Soa Suite version: 11.1.1.3
    Does anyone has a clue to solve this issue ?
    Thanks

    It is unclear where you are having a problem.  Is your issue at runtime (when the form runs in the browser) or when working in the Builder on the form?
    Also be aware that you will need to sign your jar and include some new manifest entries.  Refer to the Java 7u51 documentation and blogs that discuss the changes.

  • How to use generic action in ODI?

    I create new Action (Topology.Generic Action), for example, "DELETE TABLE", that contains 1. <%=odiRef.disableReferringFKs( )%> and 2. DELETE FROM ...
    If I want to perform this Action for any table before load data, what must I do?
    Where can I perform this in ODI? May be in Packages or in "Generic DDL" for model?
    I couldn't find this information((

    Hi Pani,
    my experience is that you can best use a procedure to do table deletions on either your source, staging or target schema.
    view the oracle users guide / reference guide for details.
    Where to perform? In the designer, create a project, open the first folder and there you'll find the procedures.
    Right click it and insert a procedure. But again, check the docs, which I believe are delivered with your installation.
    By the way, you can add the procedure in a package to have it executed before any other steps start.
    Good luck!

  • How to attach document using Generic Object Service

    Hi all,
    How can i create attachment to the parked invoice using Generic Object services? i want function modules which are used to do it.
    Actually I want to do this from the business object method. I am having word document as one of the workitem step. once i get this document I need to attach this document to the parked invoice so that users can see that document by view object list.
    Its urgent.
    thanks.

    Hello,
    Check your configuration of document type assignement to required business document - object type, Archivelink table, content repository in OAC3 transaction.
    Goto respective business document > Click on GOS > Create > Store business document - Here you can see defined document type with desctiption. Double click on this the assign your document to this business document. Save it.
    This will help in attaching the document to your required business document.
    To verify you can check the archivelink table or by transaction OAAD.
    Hope this will help you.

  • How to trigger a workflow using generic object services?

    Hi Experts,
    Let me know on how to trigger a workflow using generic object services.
    My requirement is to trigger the FI document reversal document using Object services.
    Any info or docs relevant to this, please share with me..
    Thanks,
    Dinesh.

    Dinesh,
    First of you need to check if the transaction has a BO (in released status) published to use the GOS.
    These are the pre-requisites for GOS
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_46c/helpdata/en/94/aa532cddd511d289860000e8216438/content.htm
    Once done.. check that you have valid workflow linkages active for this BO.
    Now when you click on the 'start workflow' the system will show all relevant workflows for the BO to choose from and to start.

  • Right way to use generics for cellular automatons?

    Hi,
    i've got a question about using generic types in combination with subclassing (which should be used in a cellular automaton),
    In fact there are only 3 classes that are necessary to understand my problem:
    - Cell (abstract)
    - CellularAutomaton
    - SubclassedCell (extends Cell)
    These classeses work as follows:
    A cellular automaton holds some cell's with respect to the order they were added. The cell itself holds some properties and the most important function in this small "framework". This function is "performCellAction(CellularAutomaton ca)". It retrieves the "neighbor" cells from the given parameter and calculates a new state using these neighbors.
    The way i implemented this using generics is:
    public class CellularAutomaton<T extends Cell>{
      private List<T> cells;
      public T getLeftNeighbor(T cell) { ... } // gets the left neighbor of the given cell
      public T getRightNeighbor(T cell) { ... } // gets the left neighbor of the given cell
    public abstract class Cell [
      public void performCellAction(CellularAutomaton<? extends Cell> ca) {}
    public class SubclassedCell extends Cell {
      private String str;
      public void performCellAction(CellularAutomaton<? extends Cell> ca) {
        Cell left = ca.getLeftNeighbor();
        // PROBLEM:
        // How to call left.getStr() here???
        // How can i be sure that ca contains objects of class subclassedCell (or objects of subclasses of subclassedCell) ... and not objects of class cell or another subclasses cell
      public String getStr() {}
    }In fact i found "something like a solution", which looks like this:
    public class CellularAutomaton<T extends Cell>{
      private List<T> cells;
      public T getLeftNeighbor(T cell) { ... } // gets the left neighbor of the given cell
      public T getRightNeighbor(T cell) { ... } // gets the left neighbor of the given cell
      public void computer() {
        for (T cell: cells) {
          // compiler warning here!!
          cell.performCellAction(this);
    public abstract class Cell<T extends Cell<?>> [
      public void performCellAction(CellularAutomaton<T> ca) {}
    public class SubclassedCell extends Cell<SubclassedCell> {
      private String str;
      performCellAction(CellularAutomaton<SubclassedCell> ca) {
        SubclassedCell left = ca.getLeftNeighbor();
        left.getStr(); // works here
      public String getStr() {}
    }However, even in this "working" solution i get a compiler warning at the method CellularAutomaton->computer():
    The warning is Type safety: The method performCellAction(CellularAutomaton) belongs to the raw type Cell. References to generic type Cell<T> should be parametrized and Cell<T extends Cell<?>> also looks very uncommon to me.
    Is there a betted way to achieve the goal to access left.getStr() in the performCellAction of the subclassed cell??
    Regards,
    Niko

    I thought of that myself, but if i do this, i get the following error:
    The method performCellAction(CellularAutomaton<capture#1-of ?>) in the type Cell<capture#1-of ?> is not applicable for the arguments (CellularAutomaton<T>)

  • How to use TCP Checksum Off-load in my network driver

    I am seeking infomation on how to use TCP Checksum Off-load to tell the Solaris 8 stack not to handle it for both receives and transmits (and let our NIC handle this compute-intensive task instead).
    There is mention that Sun GigabitEthernet Adapter cards, Release 1.1 supports Sol-2.6 use of NIC features: TCP checksum offload & byte swapping
    There are limited bits of info in include files. For example
    sys/strick.h indicates use of:
    inetcksum_t's ick_xmit
    stream.h has:
    struct datab's unsigned u16:16; /* used to store hw-calculated cksum
    #define STRUIO_IP 0x04 /* IP checksum stored in db_struioun */
    #define STRUIO_ZC 0x08 /* mblk eligible for zero-copy */
    strsub.h has:
    struct zero_copy_kstat
    Also /include/inet/tcp.h has tcp_sum for outbound.
    Thank you. -Weimin Tchen

    VenK7337,
    Could you show your python code. so we know what your are "writing" to the ethernet port?
    That way we can see what you are receiving.
    Parsing the incoming data (from the TCP-read) depends heavily on the device that sends it, and can not generically be described. LabVIEW has many byte (and even bit) manipulation functions to convert many different data formats to its own build in formats.
    So after the TCP listener is connected, you are constantly reading from the established connection (until it gets broken of course). More advanced example would be the internet toolkit if oyu have it.
    From the read characters (and I hope you designed a protocol with a clear starting character, ending character and maybe even a build in checksum) you parse the data and perform you action, and of course generate a reply. Again the internet toolkit is a good example. It parsed the input as it comes it, based on the HTTP format. Then generates the reply based on the request received.
    These days I would suggest not to use binairy encoded numerics. Try and use XML formatted data. Yes, it causes a lot of overhead. But typically this is not an issue and makes the code a lot more portable and maintainable. Also makes it easier to interface with other languages/platforms.
    Umless of course you are looking at Khz data rates, then XML is not th preferred choice.
    Hope this helps...

  • Deskjet 6988dt, how to use photo/envelope slot for printing 4x6 photo paper?

    Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS.  Printer has the extra250 sheet paper tray.  Upper and lower tray work fine.  I can of course load photo paper in upper tray and print photos from there, but I was trying to load just one sheet of photo paper in the little slot since I don't want to have photo paper loaded all the time.  Since I have to use the generic Windows driver for this printer as HP doesn't have a driver update for this printer and Windows 7, the only selections I'm seeing in printer properties is "automatic, upper, lower".  I've tried all three of those settings and none take the paper from the little slot where I'm manually feeding the 4x6 photo paper.  What am I doing wrong?  Could it be that this feature just isn't enabled with the generic Windows driver?
    The reference/instruction documentation that came with this printer is very sparse.  I can't find any instruction on how to use the photo/evelope slot.  In fact I'd say overall the documentation is very poor.
    I just checked the HP site, still no Windows 7 64-bit driver available.
    Thanks for any help or ideas.

    Found a .pdf document on line for the Desjet 6980 series printers. Much more comprehensive than what came with the printer.
    http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00591373.pdf
    Follow these steps to use the photo/envelope feeder to print a single photo:
    1. Insert the photo paper into the photo/envelope feeder with the side to be printed on
    facing down.
    2. Gently push the photo paper into the photo/envelope feeder as far as it will
    comfortably go.
    3. Slide the photo/envelope feeder forward as far as it will go.
    4. Print the photo.
    Problem was, although I was inserting the 4x6 photo paper into the feeder, I wasn't pushing the little plastic slide forward.

    Hello,
    Check your configuration of document type assignement to required business document - object type, Archivelink table, content repository in OAC3 transaction.
    Goto respective business document > Click on GOS > Create > Store business document - Here you can see defined document type with desctiption. Double click on this the assign your document to this business document. Save it.
    This will help in attaching the document to your required business document.

  • Attach Documents using Generic Object Services

    With reference to Manual Bassani's SDN Contribution of code examples on how to attach documents using Generic Object Services - we have found that since implementing ECC 6 the following code no longer works (at the end of page 9):
    CALL CREATE ATTACHMENT SERVICE FROM TOOLBAR
    WHEN 'ATTACH'.
    CALL METHOD MANAGER->START_SERVICE_DIRECT
    EXPORTING
    IP_SERVICE = 'CREATE_ATTA'
    IS_OBJECT = OBJ
    EXCEPTIONS
    NO_OBJECT = 1
    OBJECT_INVALID = 2
    EXECUTION_FAILED = 3

    It is necessary to use IP_SERVICE = 'PCATTA_CREA' to get this to function correctly.

  • How to use Start Task Group for Workflow Interface

    Hi all,
    anyone who can tell me how to use the Interface IFWFTSKGRP (Start Task Group for Workflow Interface)?
    As far as I understood the documentation it can be used to restrict the selection of workflows that can be started in the Generic Object Services. But the question is how to implement it.
    Best regards,

    Edited by: Carsten Drewes on Jun 10, 2009 10:30 AM

    Hi, Carsten,
    (probably it's a bit too late to post an answer after 3 years , but I'll post it in case someone else needs it)
    You should implement GetTaskGroup method.
    The code should return id of the task group (otype TG, mantained in PFTC) that holds the list of workflow definitions.
    Here is a sample implementation. It's taken from FORMABSENC business object. It belongs to SAP demo workflow "Notification of Absence". I suppose it should be present in most systems and you can see it in action.
    begin_method gettaskgroup changing container.
    DATA: taskgroup LIKE rhobjects-object.
    *- set task group
    taskgroup = 'TG70000023'.
      *- set result
    swc_set_element container result taskgroup.
    end_method.

  • How to Use ECC function Module

    Hi Experts - We need to execute the function module in ECC and need to write data in Oracle table.
    We are using BODS 4.0.
    How to use function module in data flow ? how it can work as a source ?
    I just need some basic steps how to use function module as a source and do the transformation to target.
    Thanks
    R

    Hi Ashwani,
    It is still not possible to use a FM as a source in DS.
    You can use a FM in a transformation but you have to start from a file or table as a source and load into a target (a FM can not be an end point of a dataflow - as it is used in the transformation and each transformation requires a source and a target.
    The scenario I described above was based on a situation where you have a source (flat file or table) and want to use a Function Module to transform your data and/or load the data in a transparant table in SAP.
    Your scenario is different, as your source is not a table/ff but a FM.
    In your case, I can see two scerio's:
    - Use an ABAP dataflow. Although I haven't got any experience with this I do believe this would be an option for your scenario. Please referer to the Data Services documentation on ABAP dataflows for further guidance.
    - As suggested earlier, you can create a bespoke (BW) Datasource based on a Function Module. Please refer to SAP help for creating a generic datasource:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/e3/e60138fede083de10000009b38f8cf/frameset.htm
    Depending on your scenario there might be a third option:
    - Use a SAP transparant table as a source. Create a transformation into the designated Oracle table. In the transformation call a FM which executes whatever logic you require. This solution will work if you have a table which produces the same number of records as your FM. If your function module produces more or less records (than there are in the transparant table), then this might become a bit tricky. It might work, but I have never tried it.
    Instead of a transparant table you can also use a table join, obviously. Perhaps part of the complexity of your FM could be resolved by using a join and you can create a new simpler FM for the remaining logic?
    Good luck,
    Jan.
