I have a similar problem: I have a java project (Rafa_Table_JDO) with the JDO classes, a web project (Rafa_Table_Web) that uses the JDO project, and a Rafa_Table_Ear project that contains the JDO and Web projects.
And I have a webdynpro project (Rafa_Table_Webdyn) that I could not make work with the JDO classes. I can't resolve the JNDI lookup:
(PersistenceManagerFactory) ctx.lookup("java:comp/env/jdo/defaultPMF");
Is it clear? Can anybody help me?

Issues while configuring java application using JDO with MS JDBC Driver 1.0

We are in the process of configuring our java application with the production version of SQL Server 2005 Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) Driver 1.0. We are facing issues getting it to work with Sun App Server using JDO concept.
After creating the data store, adding the JDBC driver to the application server classpath through console and also copying the driver into the lib directory, we are still getting the below error.

I have already tried this before and this not work too, but strange that even if I use JDBC:ODBC bridge driver, the return value for output parameters are not correct, that is, only return the value that I input but not the value after executed in the procedure....

Using JDO in a portal component.

I've tried using JDO in a portal component (DynPage), but it just won't work for me (WAS 6.40).
What I've tried is this:
- Looking up a PersistenceManagerFactory using the name "java:comp/env/jdo/defaultPMF"
This does not work ... I get a NameNotFoundException: Path to object does not exist at java:comp, the whole lookup name is java:comp/env/jdo/defaultPMF
- After reading this forum I tried with the name "deployedAdapters/jdo/defaultPMF/shareable/jdo/defaultPMF" although this is probably not the correct way
This did return a PersistenceManagerFactory object, however I wasn't able to cast to the PersistenceManagerFactory interface that I had. It must have been different versions of the interface - I tried downloading the jdo.jar from Sun and compiling the portal component against that, but still the ClassCastException occured. I used the reflection API to determine that the object returned did in fact implement the interface named javax.jdo.PersistenceManagerFactory. I even tried using the jdo.jar libraries from the server, but to no luck.
So ... my question is: Is JDO not available from a portal component? Must I develop a J2EE application to make it work? If so, I'd rather use Hibernate in my portal components, but it seems stupid when JDO is available?

Hi Thomas,
In order to be able to use JDO in a Portal component, you have to add a Private Sharing Reference to the application sap.com/com.sap.jdo. This is a standard application provided with the SAP WebAS Java installation.

How to use CMP with Inheritance?

I've a thorny problem with 2 EJBs which I hope I can use CMP for persistence.
I'm supposed to implement a web-based forum and I'm thinking of using a ForumThread entity bean and a ForumReply entity bean to store the postings/messages in the forum.
A ForumReply, according to OO design, is the same as a ForumThread (which is the first message of a topic) except that they've a parent thread/reply. So I thought of using Inheritance with the ForumThread as the parent (base) class and ForumReply as the sub (derived) class.
But it seems that CMP in EJB 2.0 does not support this relationship as yet. Is there any way to workaround this limitation without having to remodel the relationship? What should I do in such a situation? Anyone care to share how he overcome this?
It's not quite possible to give up inheritance in OO design simply because EJB 2.0 CMP doesn't support it right? We end up creating bad softwar design.
So do I have to go back to using Bean Managed Persistence in this case?

I am using JDO to access the database.I have created the persistance layer, businees layer following the tutorial "getting started with JDO". they are using Servlets and html as front end. But i need to use webdynpro as front end.can we acess the methods in the business logic from the webdynpro component?

It is technically possible to wrap JDO classes/interfaces using the new JavaBean ModelImport (read WebLog /people/david.beisert/blog/2004/10/26/webdynpro-importing-java-classes-as-model)
But this is usually not desirable to achieve optimal scalability and performance.
Why? JDO objects generally require holding locks of the persistent objects they represent. By binding these objects directly in Web Dynpro contexts, locks would remain attained as long as the user interaction is taking place. JDO theoretically could better adress this, but SAP's implementation currently does not allow attaching/detaching JDO objects from the transaction.
=> the best way of doing this, is by using JDO objects only as DataTransport objects. Someone familiar with JDO should know how this design pattern works. This means, that these JDO objects are not themselves persistent, but are only used to hold transient data. These JDO classes can be imported into Web Dynpro (using the JavaBean model) and bound to Web Dynpro contexts. But persisting the data means to hand the DTOs over to a service layer, which then copies the data, acquires the locks, and saves and commits the data to the persistent storage.
No tutorials for such a scenario exist at the moment.

Can't figure out how to use home sharing

Since the latest couple iTunes updates, my family and I can not figure out how to use home sharing. Everyone in our household has their own iTunes, and for a long time we would just share our music through home sharing. But with the updates, so much has changed that we can no longer figure out how to use it.
I have a lot of purchased albums on another laptop in the house, that im trying to move it all over to my own iTunes, and I have spent a long time searching the internet, and everything. And I just can't figure out how to do it. So.... how does it work now? I would really like to get these albums from my moms iTunes, onto mine. I would hate to have to buy them all over again.
If anyone is able to help me out here, that would be great! Thanks!

The problem im having is that after I am in another library through home sharing, I can't figure out how to select an album and import it to my library. They used to have it set up so that you just highlight all of the songs you want, and then all you had to do was click import. Now I don't even see an import button, or anything else like it. So im lost... I don't know if it's something im doing wrong, or if our home sharing system just isn't working properly.

"Query 'ABC' is already open in another session."
where 'ABC' is the query name.
Can you please tell me how to use the same POWL query for multiple users ?

Batch processing usually involves using actions you have recorded. In Action you can insert Path that can be used during processing documents. Path have some size so you may want to only process document that have the same size. Look in the Actions Palette fly-out menu for insert path. It inserts|records the current document work path into the action being worked on and when the action is played it inserts the path into the document as the current work path..

I bought the AirPort Time Capsule to back up my MBP
And so i did.
then i thought "let give this one a fresh start" so i erased all of it with the disk utility and re-installed the MBP from the recovery disk.
I dont want all of the stuff i backed up just a few files and some pictures so i brought that back.. so far so good.
Now i want to do a new back up of my MBP so i open time machine settings, pick the drive on the time capsule and then "Choose" i wait for the beck up to begin, and then it fails. It says (sorry for my bad english, im swedish haha) "the mount /Volume/Data-1/StiflersMBP.sparsebundle is already in use for back up.
this is what i want:
i want the "StiflersMBP.sparsebundle" to just be so i can get some stuf when i need them. it's never to be erased.
i want to make a new back up of my MBP as if it's a second computer...
so guys and girls, what is the easiest and best solution?

If you want files to use later.. do not use TM.
Or do not use TM to the same location. Plug a USB drive into the computer and use that as the target for the permanent backup.

I use ABAP-XSL mapping to insert records in Oracle table. My Sender is File and receiver is JDBC. We use Oracle 10g database. All fields in table are VARCHAR2 except one field; this is having type 'DATE'.
I use Stored procedure to update the records in table. I have converted my string into date using the Oracle TO_DATE function. But, when I use this format, it throws an error in the Receiver CC. (But, the message is processed successfully in SXMB_MONI).
The input format I formed like below:

Value in Payload is like below.

in my Abap XSL. But, its not working correctly. The problem is 'href' function to import "date.xsl" in my XSLT is not able to do that. The system throws an error. Moreover, it is not able to write the command 'extension-element-prefixes' in my <xsl:stylesheet namespace>
May be I am not able to understand how to use this.
Anyway, I solved this problem by handling date conversion inside Oracle Stored Procedure. Now, its working fine.

Could anyone point me to some useful documentation/examples/blogs ?

First of all one sender mail adapter has to be tight with a specific sender email address.
The email has to be decrypted as whole, you cannot decrypt parts of it.
Then you store certificates to secure store in J2EE server and point to it in send agreement, this should be equal to HTTPS setup
