How to use maximum date condition in where clause ?

Hi I want to check if SWITCH_FLAG has 'Y' for the latest batch run..how can write it?
(select a.SWITCH_FLAG
from MORTGAGE
where SYS_EFF_DATE = max(SYS_EFF_DATE)
) as expected_result
Error message:
ORA-00934: group function is not allowed here

This will give you the switch_flag for the latest eff_date,
SELECT SWITCH_FLAG
FROM (SELECT A.SWITCH_FLAG, ROW_NUMBER () OVER (ORDER BY SYS_EFF_DATE DESC) rn
          FROM mortgage A)
WHERE rn = 1;
--if you want to test try this,
SELECT SWITCH_FLAG,SYS_EFF_DATE
  FROM (SELECT A.SWITCH_FLAG,SYS_EFF_DATE , ROW_NUMBER () OVER (ORDER BY SYS_EFF_DATE DESC) rn
          FROM mortgage A)
WHERE rn = 1;G.

  • How can I pass multiple condition in where clause with the join table?

    Hi:
I need to collect several inputs at run time, and query the record according to the input.
How can I pass multiple conditions in where clause with the join table?
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Regards,
    TD

If you are using SQL-Plus or Reports you can use lexical parameters like:
    SELECT * FROM emp &condition;
When you run the query it will ask for value of condition and you can enter what every you want. Here is a really fun query:
    SELECT &columns FROM &tables &condition;
But if you are using Forms. Then you have to change the condition by SET_BLOCK_PROPERTY.
    Best of luck!

    CHEERS,
    PRABU AMMAIAPPAN

I see a couple of problems here.
First, what you posted below is not a syntactically valid query. It seems to be part of a larger query, specifically, this looks to be only the GROUP BY clause of a query.

As you discovered, if you attempt to do so, you'll find it doesn't work. If you stop and think about how SQL is processed, it should make sense to you why the SQL is not valid.
If you want to apply a filter condition such as:
trunc(max(RD.DATERECEIVED)) BETWEEN TO_DATE('01/08/2011','DD/MM/YYYY') AND TO_DATE('01/08/2011','DD/MM/YYYY')you should do it in a HAVING clause, not a where clause:

    where ....
    group by ....
having max(some_date) between this_date and that_date;Hope that helps,

  • How to use a function in a Where Clause?

    Hi,
I've got a doubt. If MY_FUNCT is a function that returns a boolean, can I use it in a where clause for writing a query like this?:
    select ...
    from table a
    where ...
    and MY_FUNC (a.field) = true
    Thanks!
    Edited by: Mark1970 on 2-lug-2010 3.27

Bear in mind that this could kill your performance.
Depending on what you're doing, how many tables and other predicates are involved, you might want to try to eliminate all other data early before applying your function predicate otherwise your function might be called more times than you might have imagined. Strategies for this include subquery factoring and the old ROWNUM trick for materialising an inline view.
If performance is impacted, you might also want to consider using a function-based index provided that the function is deterministic.

  • How to use a case statement in where clause

    Hi All,
I have a requirement which is to bring all the claims that are created in the last month. So, i wrote a query something like this
    select * from claims
    where
    (Month(ClaimOpenDate) = Month(Getdate())-1 and year(claimopendate) = year(getDate()))
which would give me any new claims created in last month of current year, but this condition fails if we are in the first month of a new year( lets say if we are in 2016 jan then month(getdate())-1 would be 0 and year(getdate()) would be 2016 so we dont
find any records where year is 2016 and month is 0 for claimopen).
So, i would like to use a case statament or something which can help me get around this one.
Can someone please help me with any suggestions?

select * from mara where matnr like '%*'  "then use % sign before it

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
If you want all the rows from goh, then you don't want any conditions like  goh.OFFER_NO <> 0.
Make all the joins to goh outer joins, and make all conditions that apply to any tables joined to goh (or to tables joined to them) part of the join condition, like this:
    FROM             APPS_JP.GEDIS_OFFER_HEADER     goh
    LEFT OUTER JOIN  APPS_JP.GEDIS_ORDER_BUILDS     gob  ON   gob.OFFER_NO = goh.OFFER_NO
                                                         AND  gob.BUILD_NO = 1
    LEFT OUTER JOIN  APPS_JP.GEDIS_ORDER_LINES      gol  ON   gol.OFFER_NO = goh.OFFER_NO
                                                         AND  gol.BUILD_NO = 1
                                                         AND  gol.LINE_NO  = 1
    LEFT OUTER JOIN  APPS_JP.GEDIS_OFFER_RELATED_CUSTOMER
                                                    gorc ...
I hope this answers your question.
If not, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only) for all the tables involved, and the results you want from that data.
Simplify the problem as much as possible.  For example, do you really need all those tables to show what the problem is?  Of course, you need them in tyour real query, but if you understand a solution that only involves 4 or 5 tables, you'll know how to apply it to any number of tables.
Explain, using specific examples, how you get those results from that data.Always say what version of Oracle you're using (e.g. 11.2.0.2.0).

    Hi Krishna.
These are the steps you need to follow.
    tables: specify the table.
    data: begin of fs_...
end of fs_    " Structure Field string.
    data: t_table like
            standard table
                      of fs_...

*OPEN DATASET fname FOR OUTPUT IN BINARY MODE.
    LOOP AT t_... INTO fs_....
    write:/ .....
    TRANSFER fs_... TO fname.
    or
    TRANSFER t_... TO fname
    ENDLOOP.
    CLOSE DATASET fname.
Reward points wisely and if you are benefitted or ask for more detailed explanation if problem not solved.

How to use Sql data source from Essbase 9.3.1 for ASO cube. Are there any rules and limitations for that.
Do we need to create any data source connection for this purpose. If there please let me know the dteps to create that connection.
    Regards

Yes you need to create one DSN connection and you have to use DSN name and login details at the time of building/loading of the outline.
    Create DSN
Goto Administrative tools -> DataSources (ODBC) and add the DSN name and specify the Server name of SQL and login details and database.
goto data prep editor and click on File Menu and Click on Open SQL option Next window opens.
There you have to enter the details of the DSN connection and SQL query to build/load.
    Thanks,

  • Problem in adding one condition in where clause

    Hi,
I am populating this internal table t_bkpf for all entries in gt_covp_ext
      select bukrs belnr gjahr
             bldat budat cpudt
             xblnr waers awtyp awkey
             from bkpf
into corresponding fields of table t_bkpf
             for all entries in gt_covp_ext
             where bukrs eq gt_covp_ext-bukrs and
                   awtyp eq 'MKPF'.
Here i have to add one more condition in where clause
    AWKEY = ( Concatenated string of gt_covp_ext-REFBN + gt_covp_ext-REFGJ )
As i am not using loop at gt_covp_ext.How to implement this condition in Where clause.
Please help.If you did not understood the requirement reply this post.

    Hi,
Create a new internal table gt_covp_ext_new with the same structure as gt_covp_ext. Include an extra field in gt_covp_ext_new-concat,  to store the concatenated value.
Copy all entries from gt_covp_ext to gt_covp_ext_new.
    Loop at gt_covp_ext.
    move-corresponding gt_covp_ext to gt_covp_ext_new.
    gt_covp_ext_new-concat = gt_covp_ext-REFBN + gt_covp_ext-REFGJ .
    append gt_covp_ext_new.
    endloop.
Now use this new internal table in the query.
    select bukrs belnr gjahr
    bldat budat cpudt
    xblnr waers awtyp awkey
    from bkpf
into corresponding fields of table t_bkpf
    for all entries in gt_covp_ext_new
    where bukrs eq gt_covp_ext_new-bukrs and
    awkey eq  gt_covp_ext_new-concat and
    awtyp eq 'MKPF'.
    Hope this answers your qn.

  • Performance with dates in the where clause

Performance with dates in the where clause
    CREATE TABLE TEST_DATA

    FSTRING VARCHAR2(4000 BYTE),
    FDATE DATE
    create index t_indx on test_data(fdata);

    3) I read somewhere - "Always check the Access Predicates and Filter Predicates of Explain Plan carefully to determine which columns are contributing to a Range Scan and which columns are merely filtering the returned rows. Be sceptical if the same clause is shown in both."

    3) Could some one explain what the filter & access predicate mean here?

Be careful; post the code you're actually running.
    query 1: select count(*) from TEST_DATA where trunc(fdate) = trunc(sysdate);
    query 2: select count(*) from TEST_DATA where fdate between trunc(sysdate) and trunc(SYSDATE) + .99999;

    My questions:
    1) Why isn't the index t_indx used in Execution plan 1?To use an index, the indexed column must stand alone as one of the operands. If you had a function-based index on TRUNC (fdate), then it might be used in Query 1, because the left operand of = is TRUNC (fdate).
    2) From the execution plan, I see that query 2 & 3 is better than query 1. I do not see any difference between execution plan 2 & 3. Which one is better? That depends on what you mean by "better".
If "better" means faster, you've already shown that one is about as good as the other.
Queries 2 and 3 are doing different things. Assuming the table stays the same, Query 2 may give different results every day, but the results of Query 3 will never change.
    For clarity, I prefer:
    WHERE     fdate >= TRUNC (SYSDATE)
AND     fdate <  TRUNC (SYSDATE) + 1(or replace SYSDATE with a TO_DATE expression, depending on the requirements).
    3) I read somewhere - "Always check the Access Predicates and Filter Predicates of Explain Plan carefully to determine which columns are contributing to a Range Scan and which columns are merely filtering the returned rows. Be sceptical if the same clause is shown in both."
Is that true for Execution plan 2 & 3?
    3) Could some one explain what the filter & access predicate mean here?Sorry, I can't.

  • Problem in case of or condition in  where clause in case of leftouter joi.

    hi
i am encountering a wierd problem.
in a select query if i have a left outer join and a or condition in where clause the order of condition in or matters and if i use a to_char problem is solved.
    see query below
    select * from custsupp left outer join Salesperson s on custsupp.sales_rep = s.id ,state a where (CS_FLAG='C' or CS_flag ='B') and custsupp.state = a.id
i have a single record in table custsupp with CS_FLAG ='B' the above does not return result. but if i move CS_FLAG='B' on left of or i.e
    select * from custsupp left outer join Salesperson s on custsupp.sales_rep = s.id ,state a where (CS_FLAG='B' or CS_flag ='C') and custsupp.state = a.id
    i get the rsult.
also if i remove left outer join and keep order of condition as it is i get result i.e
    select * from custsupp ,state a where (CS_FLAG='C' or CS_flag ='B') and custsupp.state = a.id
    also if i add a to_char to co,umns CS_FLAG i get the result.
    select * from custsupp left outer join Salesperson s on custsupp.sales_rep = s.id ,state a where (to_char(CS_FLAG)='C' or to_char(CS_flag ='B')) and custsupp.state = a.id
    why it is so?
    CS_flag is of type nchar

First if you don't want to take credit of the free sample then follow the below procedure:
    1. Do the GRN for all the three item and for the free item in the excise tab at the item level select the material as non cenvatable. Just remember to add base value of the item
    2.  If you want to capture the Part1 entry then just do the normal transaction and while posting the excise with J1IEX just remove the excise duties for the free item.
    3. For paying the vendor the excise amount, just do subsequent debit in the MIRO and in the details tab add in the unplanned delivery cost the amount that you want to pay for the excise duties
Second case if you want to take credit of the duties:
    1. Do the Normal GRN process, add the base value and excise values for the free item.
    2. Post the Excise duites with J1iEX.
    3. The with the account entry you can settle the excise payment
    Hope this will help you
    Enjoyyyyyyyyyyy
