How to use one variable as a default value for another variable?

Hi Experts,
Is it possible to use one variable as a default value for another variable?
For example:
Variable 1 = current calendar year month
Variable 2 = mandatory input ready variable for calendar year month
I want to use variable 1 as default value for variable 2, but also have the ability to change the month if required.

u can use replacement path variable
in that case u can replace the values of 1 variable with the another variable...
but u cannot do this setting
u cannot make variable 2 as mandatory
u cannot enter value for variable 2
because by default it will take the value of variable 1
u have to make follow settings
variable 2
name , technical name
processing by = replacement path
infoobject = ocalmonth
next tab
replaced by another variable
variable name
offset start , offset lenght
save and hit okey

In one of our Stored procs,we have a variable RECS_TO_DELETE, which determines the number of records to delete from various DELETEs that happen within this proc.

How to use one DC's view/component/appln in another DC

Hi All,
I am new to DC concept. I am trying to use one DC's component in another DC. I have done following steps.
a)Created two DCs A and B
b) DC A's 'New Public Part-->Entity Type(Web Dynnpro Component) I selected component
c) Add Used DC in B, I added A's component
 From this point onwards I am not getting any clues. How do I call A's component in DC B. Please guide. Any examples will be great.

Just tell me do u want to display a view, use some context or use some methods defined in other controller.
So that i can help you in the same direction.
Component Usage
Suppose you have following scenario:
1) DC2 has component Comp2. In this dc you read the context a value and stores it in context named "Ctx_value".
2) DC1 has component Comp1. Here you want to read the Ctx_value from comp2.
In Comp2 create a method getValue()
public java.lang.String getProcessId( )
 return wdContext.getCurrentElement().getAttributeValue("Ctx_value");
In the interface controller of Comp2 click on properties tab and add reference to the cont2 controller. Now create a method here in interface controller to get the value of Ctx_value
public java.lang.String getValue( )
 return wdThis.wdGetComp2Controller().getValue();
Expose the Comp2 as public part now.
In DC1 add DC1 as used DC.
Build both dc's
In Comp1 create Component usage by name Comp2Usage to Comp2.
Now you can access the method getValue() from interface controller of Comp2.
wdThis.wdGetComp2UsageInterface().getValue();
This is how you can access a value of Context. Same can be done by direct binding.
View Access
If you want to access a view v2 in comp2 then goto windows in comp1 and embedd an existing view and in that select the interface view of comp2. The default view in comp2 can now be displayed in comp1.

How to use one ODSI project artifact as jar for other ODSI project?

Hi,
I am working on multiple ODSI proejcts in Same Server. My problem is how to call one projects resources in other ODSI project. I need this as Some of Data Services read the data from more then one database. The projects are in seprate Dataspace projects but they are deployed in same server. When I try to export artifacts from one projects and include them as Jar in other projects I am not able to see any Data service methods so unable to call any method of one project in other project. Please advise how to recsolve this problem.

If you already have a case open, it's polite if you mention that - so I don't have to answer the same questions to support and also to this forum. Likewise, when you get an answer to your question on this forum, you can tell support. So they don't keep looking for something you already have the answer to. Cuts down on the duplication of effort.
You have one project. You add more files to it (regardless of how you add them - by creating files with the editor, by using a wizard or by importing files from another project), you still have only one project.
If you had some other project that you exported the files from - that project is still there - but the original project does not know or care about it.

Use one layer as alpha map (mask) for another - how?

Hi, I do not understand how to do this in Photoshop. In After Effects, which I use a lot, this is easy. For example, I have one layer with transparent, semi transparent an opaque areas. I can then tell AE to use this layer as an alpha channel map for another layer. But how do I do this in Photoshop? I understand how to use a layer mask and draw on the same layer to create treansparent areas. But I want to use a separante layer, or even a separate image.
I use Photoshop CS 5.

Not directly, no. But you can approximate the function with Screen Recycler. I haven't tried it myself, but it's worth a look.

Default value for variable are not within permitted value range (precalc)

Issue:
I have created a variable (Characteristic Value/ Manual input-default value) and use the precalculated value set (details-basic settings). In the further variable definition I could select the precalculated value set in 'Default values', which I have defined beforehand in the broadcaster..
The precalculated value set in the broadcaster settings is just based on a master data query on 0CUSTOMER.
Error:
The variable gets the error E991/R9E Errors: Default values for variable 'XXX' are not within permitted value range.
The detail description of the error is: You defined default values for variable 'Sold-to party precalc value set for manuel input' that are not appropriate for the variable type; for example, a range is defined as a default value for a variable that only permits a single value.
So please has someone had the same issue and found out how to solve it? It would be excelent to get good solution for this issue.

I should have mentioned that in my post. I tried this very first time. I thought that this is the place where you provide default value. But I got following exception at that time, so I thought, may be this is used for something else.

Default multiple values for formula variable on variable selection screen

Hi All,
Suppose 'A' is formula variable with customer exit as processing type then i want four default values for this variable eg: 3, 6,9, and 12 as selection options, when we will execute query user can able to pick any one of the default value.
is it possible in BEx for formula variables?
I also tried with ABAP code in 'cmod' t-code, but it is not working properly for 4 default values....but for single default value, code is working fine.
I am using following code ::

Set default value for OAMessageLovInputBean

I have DFF(standard) enabled on the page. The requirement is to disable / hide one of the flex fields on the page. Since the field is read only, I am trying to default the value in CO using below code

Using the above code, the field had become read only and the values is getting defaulted. But when I try to submit / save the page its asking to enter the value.

Hi,
You can hide the madetory filed using below steps:
Set any default Value for the mandatory field using bean.setText();
Then hide it by using bean.setRendered(flase);

Its Application Module has a Transient View Object instance "MyEmployeesContextVOVI", as master for the child View Object instance "EmpInCtxJobVI".
On rollback the Transient View Object instance keeps its row and attribute values.
Also when passivation and activation is forced (using jbo.ampool.doampooling=false ) the Transient View Object instance seems to keep its row and attribute values.
questions:
- (q1) Why does the expression #{bindings.MyEmployeesContextVOVIIterator.dataControl.transactionDirty} evaluate as true when a Transient View Object instance attribute value is changed (as shown in screencast at http://screencast.com/t/qDvSQCgpvYdd )?
- (q2) What would be a robust approach to make a Transient View Object instance more self-contained, and manage itself to have only one single row (per instance) at all times (and as such removing the dependency on the Application Module prepareSession() as documented in "5. Create an empty row in the view object when a new user begins using the application module.")?

Thank you for contacting me, however I already know how to save text to
audio files via timeline using the Export feature.
So my question was not entirely clear and I apologize for that. To explain
further, whenever I save a text to audio file, captivate takes me to a
default save as folder where I then have browse back to my production
folder where I am keeping all my Txt to Aud files. This is very tedious
process when you have alot of files to save. So my question was is there a
way to configure captivate so I can make my production folder the default
file for whenever I save a Txt to Audio file through Export feature that
the system automatically takes me to that production folder, and I am
spared the long tedious process of saving the file manually to the
prodcution folder I want.
I have copy the pathway to the production folder in the URL filed in the
Save As dialoge box and that workaround as cut the work down but I still
have to paste that URL field to point the file to the right folder. So it
would be nice if I could do everything automatically. Microsoft makes this
capability in their MS Office applications, so I was thinking Adobe might
do the same thing. Your help with this would be appreicated,
