How to use PDF generator installed on dedicated machine

Hi!
According to Adobe official recommendation I have installed PDF generator on dedicated machine, separed from rest of LiveCycle modules. But now I don't know how to use such a PDF generator from my LC processes. Obviously I may use webservice component and call PDF generator using SOAP. But that is not elegant. I searched in adminui for some URL or IP address settings, but found nothing.
And what to do when I have more then one PDF generator server? Probably I need some sort of load balancing. Is LC ES capable of work in such configuration?

There is possible to specify PDF generator location in file repository:///assembler.properties . So I created the file:
serverType=JBoss
protocol=soap
endPoint=http://192.168.2.1:8080
username=administrator
password=password
and put it to repository root. Unfortunetally nothing happened. I restared server also but no effect. Do you have some experience with configuring server location in LiveCycle?

Combine .ps files using PDF Generator

Hi all,
Right now we are using the Livecycle to combine the PDF's to printer, this process was successfully running.
We got a mail from printer saying that there is repetation of same fonts name displayed in the combine pdf, that need to resolve.
We have used "RunFlex" option in acrobat professional version to distill the .ps to combine PDF file, this was working fine.
I need to configure a process to combine the .ps file.
I configured the PDF's using the "invoke" option.
Please advice.

The attached process is as follows:
It uses PDF Generator > Distiller > Create PDF to generate two PDFs from two .ps files, uses Assembler to merge the PDFs into a single PDF and extracts the assembled PDF from the AssemblerResult object.

I guess I'm still not fully understanding your problem. You mention that they aren't being cleared from the JVM? On the server or client side? How exactly are you seeing that they aren't being released? I'm assuming you mean server side because you mention JVM. The JVM isn't used on the client side to display the UI element. There is no JVM used in Web Dynpro ABAP for the server side processing. The only place the JVM is used is in the Adobe Document Services itself for the rendering of the PDF. Is that where you are seeing instances not being cleared? I'm not exactly sure how that would be manifesting itself. Could you please provide some more detail.

Conversion of Tiff docs using PDF generator

In our business, we get the tiff images which needs to be converted to PDF. I learned that PDF generator ES can do this.
Can we extract the text and values present in the Tiff images and save it in our database using OCR feature in PDF generator?
If not with this, do we have any other way where we can use features of OCR and Adobe?
Also, can we install LiveCycle PDF Generator ES trial version without installing the whole Enterprise suite? If we install by selecting the appropriate modules we want in enterprise suite, will it work fine without having other pieces of enterprise suite?

Hello,
I try to convert some documents (.doc, .ppt, ...) into .pdf using the PDF Generator.
And sometimes, I hava the following error in a .log file (in the out directory):
Failed to process job DDLaunchObject-2006-08-08 13-22-40.102.doc
Error Code: 1,011
Reason: The BMC reported failure in converting the document.
Is anyone has already had that error? What do I have to do?

I have seen this error when trying to convert a certain Word document. The Word document itself when i opened it in Word resulted in a warning message that it needed to install a language pack, once i installed this language pack, the conversion in PDFG worked.
PDFG uses the native process in the background to convert the files. That means for Word docs it actually uses msword.exe to read the document. If opening the document in Word results in any kind of error or user dialog, then this could be what causes the PDFG server to fail, as the server cannot respond to the error/dialog that occurs.

How to use a ".generate" file in JDeveloper 11g ?

Using JDeveloper 11g (11.1.1.0.1) I created a Database Diagram and dropped both SCOTT.EMP and SCOTT.DEPT tables on it, creating Offline Database Objects.
After that I used the "Generate..." option from the right-click menu on the SCOTT Offline Database Source in JDeveloper, to generate a SQL script.
Step 6 of 6 allowed me to "Save settings for reuse", resulting in a ".generate" file (see GenerateSQLFromDatabaseObjectsStep6Of6.png).
question
How should I be able to reuse such a ".generate" file, the right-click menu does not have a "Generate" option (like JDeveloper 10g has) or something similar, see GenerateSQLRightClickMenuForGenerateFile.png.

You were not able to access it via metalink as it was categorized as an internal bug rather than a production version bug. Since it has now been fixed it is unlikely that I can get it changed to allow it to be seen via metalink.about "unlikely", see also ...

How to use a PDF file with links to other PDF files that have been transferred to the same folder

Are you using a mouse, or a trackpad on a laptop? Either way, your cursor is usually an arrow, right? And presumably it's working/moving MOST of the time, otherwise you wouldn't be able to do anything?
For example, can you move the cursor arrow to the "Annotate" tool to click on it and go into Annotate mode? If so, can you click on the text tool? If so, does the cursor change to a crosshairs? At what point can you NOT move the cursor around the screen?

Problems using PDF Generator QPACs

I have PDF Generator 7.2 running under JBoss on one server and Workflow 7.0.1 on another. I am trying to use the PDF Generator QPACs that came with the Workflow SDK 7.0.3 but when the ConvertPDF QPAC is invoked I get the following error...
16:42:45,906 ERROR [AWS] stalling action-instance: 1407 with message: javax.naming.CommunicationException [Root exception is java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: No ClassLoaders found for: com.adobe.native2pdf.api.PDFGAPI7Home (no security manager: RMI class loader disabled)]
For kicks, I added pdfg-ejb.jar to JBoss's server/all/lib folder on the Workflow machine. That made the above error go away but produced a class not found error for com/adobe/idp/document which I tracked down to adobe-common.jar. When I added that I get an error regarding com/adobe/idp/context which I tracked down to um-client.jar. Adding that gives an error that com/adobe/idp/context violates loader constraints and that's where I'm stuck.
Any help would be appreciated.

LiveCycle PDF Generator is the right tool to use for automating .dwg to PDF conversions and supports 2D CAD drawings. Distiller only handles PostScript to PDF. If you're interested in rendering 3D CAD drawings in PDF, there's a new product, LiveCycle PDF Generator 3D, which can handle that.

Can't access my Directory Server using the Console installed on a machine

can't access my Directory Server using the Console installed on a remote server, lookied into knowledge base article 4693, but still same any idea ?

I too am having problems accessing Directory server from Netscape Console installed on Winxp.
If I try to open Directory server it doesn't give any error. No windows nothing.
If I try th same from the machine on which it is installed everything is fine. What is strange is that it did open a couple of times. But at the same time I can open the admin server, Netscape Messaging server from the xp box. Searching all over for a solution. Any help/pointers would be greatly appreciated.
Config details:
iDS4.13, iMS 5.0, running on Sol 8 box
Netscape Console 4.2 on WinXP.

We can detect if the CC was activated but we can not detect which program of the CC app was installed & activated from the CC subscription.
The activation can be detected but not the particular product.

How to get PDF generated by adobe forms on to Application Server

I have a program which gathers data into an internal table. The program then calls function FP_JOB_OPEN (with relevant outputparams). Then it calls the function module name, of the Adobe Form, passing the internal table across. Then the job is closed.
This all works fine and we end up with a PDF file on the spool (type ADSP).
The requirement is, within the program, instead of outputting to the spool, to output the PDF document onto the Application server.
Any help greatly appreciated.

If the PDF spool is already generated then,
You may need to read the PDF data , may be using 'RSPO_RETURN_SPOOLJOB
Once you get the spool data in internal table , use Open Dataset and close dataset to download , see if that works.
