How to use  synchronized(obj) ?

Hi, dear all:
It may be a basic lesson, but I need to know how synchronized(obj) exactly work.
Code as below :
Boolean flag = new Boolean(false);
......// some other codes
synchronized(flag)
  flag = Boolean.TRUE;
  flag.notify(); // or flag.wait();
}Why the notify() or wait() will cause IllegalMonitorStateExcption ?
If I can't change flag object in synchronized block, how can I change its value ?
In JDK documents, there seems no method of Boolean class can do this job ....
Or, It must be written as below ?
boolean bflag = false;
Boolean flag = new Boolean(false);
synchronized(flag)
  bflag = true;
  flag.notify();
} Thank you for help !

  Boolean flag = new Boolean(false);
  Object lockObject = new Object();
  synchronized(lockObject )
     flag = Boolean.TRUE;
    lockObject.notify();
  }

  • How to Use synchronous RFC calls during test run for remote accesses

    there is a Setting for the usage of RFC accesses from a tested system
    using eCATT.
    'X' - Use asynchronous RFC calls during test run for remote accesses
    ' ' - Use synchronous RFC calls during test run for remote accesses
    I developed an eCATT as following :
      SAPGUI ( SAPGUI_1 , Target_system_1 ).
      SAPGUI ( SAPGUI_2 , Target_system_2 ).
    My question is how to run the eCATT in a synchronous RFC calls
    PS: I do not want to change the Target_system to the same one in the
    above script of ecatt.Because I need to run it in 2 different Target
    systems sometime.
    for example, I give a Target_system_3 when run this eCATT
    I want the SAPGUI_1 and SAPGUI_2 run the Target_system_3 but not the
    Target_system_1 or Target_system_2 .
    Could you please tell me how to make it without the changes in script?

    This is the standard option value. Asynchronous are not the standard way and used only for very special purposes.

    The commands will be executed in sequence. So each call will be synchronously replayed against TS1 and TS2.
    What is you issue with this standard procedure?

  • How to use Synchronized Keyword

    Hi guys,
    Sorry if this is a simple question, but I'm not sure about the following:
    Suppose we have the class,
    Class Foo
    public synchronized void bar1() {...}
    public synchronized void bar2() {...}
    If I have two threads running concurrently, say T1 and T2.
    I know that T1 and T2 can't both be in bar1() at the same time right? [It has to be in some serial order]
    But, can T1 be in bar1() and T2 be in bar2() at the same time?
    I guess the question is, does the synchronized apply to that specific method only? Or rather to the object (which basically limits at most one thread calling that object's synchronized methods)?
    Thanks a bunch! :)
    -Michael.

    Hi Michael,
    In general, when you syncronize a block of code, the execution of the block is syncronized ON an object. Any object can function as a lock, and only one thread can have a lock of one object at a time. If one thread already has a lock on an object and another thread tries to acquire lock on the same object, the latter thread will wait until the lock is released.
    When you use 'synchronized' in method declaration, it means that the execution of the whole method is syncronized on the object itself (NOT class, if the method is non-static. Static method would be synchronized on the .class object.)
    So, if you have more than one syncronized methods, only one of them is executed at a time ON THE SAME OBJECT. The same method can, of course, be executed simultaneously on other objects. Also, if some of the methods are synchronized, but other methods are not, the non-synchronized methods are not affected in any way.
    It might be good to note that these two pieces of code have exactly the same meaning:
    public synchronized doSomething() {
        // do something
    }and
    public doSomething() {
        synchronized (this) {
            // do something
    }Hope this helps.
    Cheers,
    Vesa
    p.s. It's a good idea to design your code so that one thread will have no more than one lock at a time. If it's possible for more than one thread to have lock on more than one object, there may be a risk of the threads dead-locking, which will crash any program...

    fish,
    So you compiled a C or C++ service function with
    cl /c [... other options] myservice.c
    and now you have myservice.obj?
    In that case, use
    buildserver -f myservice.obj [ .. other options ] -o myserver.exe
    to generate a Tuxedo server called myserver.exe

  • JNI - How to use the error reporting mechanism?

    I've developed a C++ DLL which is loaded from a commercial Win32 application (not written by me) as a plug-in for external calculations. On its initialization the C++ DLL launches the Java VM via the JNI invocation interface. When the DLL functions are called by the application, they forward the calls to Java objects inside the Java VM, again via JNI invocation interface.
    This works well, but I have encountered a weird error.
    From Java I open a JFrame containing a JTextArea as small console for debug output messages. If I turn output to this debug console off (my printToConsole routine checks whether a boolean flag is set), the string concatenation operator may lead to a crash of the Java VM.
    For example, if in one of the Java functions called from the
    DLL via JNI invocation interface the following is the first statement,
    it leads to a crash of the Java VM and the application that loaded the C++ proxy DLL.
    String test=""+Math.random(); // String test not used later
    Interestingly, if I comment this statement out, the Java code works fine WITHOUT any crash. I've already thought about potential races and synchronization issues in my code, but I don't see where this is the case. And the string concatenation error fails as well, if I insert sleep() statements in front of it and at other places in the code. However, if I turn on log messages printed to my JFrame debug console (containing a JTextArea), the String concatenation works without problems.
    So maybe the JNI interface has a bug and affects the Java VM; I don't see where my JNI code is wrong.
    One problem is that I do not get any stdout output, as the C++ proxy DLL is loaded by the Windows application, even if I start the Windows application from the DOS command line (under Windows).
    Does anyone know how to use the error reporting mechanism?
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/vm/error-handling.html
    Is it possible that the JVM, when it crashes, writes debug information about the crash into a file instead of stdout/stderr?
    My C++ proxy DLL was compiled in debug mode, but the commercial application (which loaded the DLL) is very likely not.
    I do not know hot to find the reason why the String concatenation fails inside the Java function called from the C++ DLL via JNI.

    Yes, I've initially thought about errors in the C++ code too. But the C++ code is actually very simple and short. It doesn't allocate anything on the C++ side. It allocates a couple of ByteBuffers inside the Java VM however via JNI invocation interface calls of env->NewDirectByteBuffer(). The native memory regions accessed via the ByteBuffers are allocated not by my own C++ code, but by the program that calls my DLL (the program is Metastock).
    The interesting thing is that everything works fine if output to my debug console is enabled, which means that in the Java print routine getConsoleLoggingState() returns true and text is appended to the jTextArea.
    static synchronized void print(String str)
    { MetaStockMonitor mMon=getInstance();
    if ( mMon.getFileLoggingState() && mMon.logFileWriter!=null) {
    mMon.logFileWriter.print(str);
    mMon.logFileWriter.flush();
    if ( mMon.getConsoleLoggingState() ) {
    mMon.jTextArea1.append(str);
    Only if output to the JTextArea is turned off (ie. getConsoleLoggingState()==false), the crash happens when the FIRST statement in the Java routine called via JNI invocation interface is a (useless) String concatenation operation, as described above.
    String test=""+Math.random(); // String test not used later
    Moreover, the crash happens BEFORE the allocated ByteBuffer objects are accessed in the Java code. But again, if console output is turned on, it works stable. If console output is turned off, it works when the (useless) String concatenation operation is removed in the Java routine called from C++.
    I've already thought about potential races (regarding multiple threads), but this can be ruled out in my case. It almost appears as if the JVM can have problems when called by the invocation interface (I tested it with Java 1.4.2 b28).
    All the calls between C++ and Java go ALWAYS in the direction from C++ code to Java. Unfortunately, there is no special JRE version with extensive logging capabilities to facilitate debugging. And the problem is not easily reproducible either.

  • Help wanted - step by step process on how to use two ipods on one computer

    I'm just in the process of getting an ipod (waiting on delivery!) and want to know how it is possible to have two ipods using the same computer but synchronizing differently. I don't want to risk losing my partners music (he'll be very upset!) and I don't want to end up with his music on my ipod. I'd appreciate it if someone could give me a step by step guide or tell me where the best place to look for the answer is. Is it possible somehow to have two different libraries on one computer? Is that how it works?

    There are a couple of methods for using more than one iPod on a single computer. Have a look at the article linked below. Method one is to have two Mac or Windows user accounts which by definition would give you two completely separate libraries. Method two as Chris has already described above is to set your preferences so each iPod is updated with only certain playlists within one library. Have a look anyway and see what you think and go for whichever you feel suits your needs best: How To Use Multiple iPods with One Computer

  • How to use standard Authorisation object?

    Hi, suppose in PFCG in a Z role suppose i have added a standard tcode (exp. VA01). Now in the authorisation field if I go to chage it it will automatically populate all maintain screens regarding that TCODE where we can maintain authorisations.
    Now suppose I have used a standard authority obj (for exp V_VBAK_AAT ) in at-selection screen of my Zprogram. Now while assiging the Ztcode in the role I m not getting the maintains screen which generates automatically for standards. I have to use the standard authotity obj, but while assigning how can we call the maintainance screen for the used autho-obj?

    Hello All,
    The Problem is resolved now.
    Actually it was the first case only.
    When i created the new user id and checked i realized that its working fine and there was
    some mistake while checking previously.
    Anyways thanks for ur reply.

  • How I use 2 AI with 1 AO in the same program without hardware errors?

    I have a machine with a Motor (velocity controled with PWM), a Strain Gauge, and a Encoder (inner the motor). This machine is controled with a LabVIEW 6.1 program in a computer with Intel Celeron 1.5Gb 360 Mb RAM and DAQ 6024E.
    In my program I have two AI Adquisition Waveform blocks with AI different ranged Channel (the firts in my Strain Gauge ranged -9 to +9 V) and the second in my encoder ranged 0 to +5 V), and one AO Generate Waveform (the PWM signal ranged 0 to +5 V). When I put on the program, the motor Glitches an my computer turns slow. It´s cause me problems!
    Whats the problem?

    You would probably get more info on this in the DAQ Discussion Forums, but I can help you out a bit here. The VIs that you are using are very high level VIs so there is a lot going on behind the scenes that you do not see. More importantly, they are synchronous, meaning that you have to wait until they're finished to do anything else. This is probably why your computer is slowing down. The UI may even freeze until you have acquired all the points you requested. I would suggest using the more advanced DAQ VIs to control your system. There are many examples that ship with LabVIEW which demonstrate how to use these. They allow you to build an asynchronous acquisition system so that other tasks may operate while the DAQ board is acquiring data.

  • How to exclude synchronous interfaces from component based message alerting

    Hi Pi experts,
    We are configuiring Alerts in PI 7.3 single stack.If we have 'n'number of interfaces, and if we configured general alerts for all.How to exclude synchronous interfaces in that.Alerting is for asynchronous interfaces only.How to do that.
    Please advice on this.
    Regards
    Suneel

    Hello,
    >>What are your approaches regarding this requirement in the context of java-only?
    I would suggest you to schedule jobs like this:
    Customize Alerts Using Job in PI 7.31/PO
    >> alerts are consumed according to the given interval and not in "real time" when error occurs, today solution using BADI is "real time" - if possible I would prefer "real time" solution
    Check this:
    Michal's PI tips: How to trigger an alert for Component Based Message Alerts (CBMA) via "API" ?
    >>an separate service determine the actual alert count would be helpful to provide the correct value for maxAlerts, this have to be called beforehand
    I haven't tried it but i think u can do that, since these consumers are nothing but JMS queues only so i think there will be a method to read number of alert counts.
    >>In history I saw emails generated by the standard alert consumer which only contain details for the first alert, in my case I need details especially the message id for all errorneous messages
    If ur max alert parameter is greater than 1 then u should see multiple alert text  (along with message id and other details) in ur email message.

  • How to use batch mode in cq dam - new questions added

    Hi I am doing DAM migration. I am using custom code to pick the image and create asset by calling Assetmanager.createAsset which creates dam assets.
    This code I am calling through the scheduler which will run for every 0.5 hr. Around 1000 images we are trying to push in each cycle. I came acrosss batchMode for saving all the images per batch so that it will reduce the migration time But I am not sure how to use it.
    .setBatchMode(true); isBatchMode are the methods available in Asset api.
    Please share your thoughts on this.
    Some more Point I want to ask.
    1.What is the best appraoch when we are pushing images to DAM
         Stopping the workflows push all the images and run the work flows. (Is it possible to do this?)
         Do the both simultaniously
         Do it in the bath (i.e push bunch of images and then run the workflows)
    2.When i am migrating images (from file system which is residing in the same box where cq is running )it is almost taking 0.5 hr for 1000 images (avg size of image is 100kb). Is there any possibility to      improve this process.
    3. When I am adding images I am adding subassets to some of the images so when ever I add subasset cq is creating new version of the asset which is not required for me. What is the best approach to avoid      creating too many versions for images in DAM. By doing this is there any performance improve in the system.
    Thanks,
    Maruthi

    Hi Jorg,
    Thank you.
    I will try out batch saving option.
    I have few more doubts.
    1. Today I tried for moving aroung 5k images through the scheduler in my local machine. It went smoothly with out much issues but as usual some of the renditions are failing for some of the sub assets. This is about 3 for every 10 images. Renditions are generating properly for all assets it is failing in case of sub assets only. Along with this I am getting version exceptions. Below are errors which I am facing very frequently during migration dry run. This seems to be beacuse of the non synchronized execute methods in WF steps. What is your call on these issues how can we avoid these kind of errors.
