How to use thin Driver in WebLogic 6.1
How to config in "JDBC Connection Pools"
(platform:windows 2000 server+WebLogic 6.1 + Oracle Enterprice 8.1.6)
URL:?
Driver Classname:?
Properties:?
Here is a sample:
<JDBCConnectionPool DriverName="oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver"
LoginDelaySeconds="1" MaxCapacity="15" Name="dbPool"
Properties="user=scott;password=tiger;dll=ocijdbc8;protocol=thin"
RefreshMinutes="15" Targets="AdminServer" TestTableName="dual" URL="jdbc:oracle:thin:@dbservername:1521:SIDname"/>
You can either use the info above configure a db pool using weblogic 6.1 web console or directly paste this into config.xml and change it accordingly. I would recommend you use the console.
Hope this helps!

Using oracle thin driver from Weblogic server 6.1
Hi
I need to know which driver is best for establishing JDBC Connection i.e.
whether to use JDriver provided with Weblogic or to go using Oracle thin driver.
Can some one tell the detailed procedure involved in configuring oracle thin driver
in Weblogicserver 6.1.
Thanks in advance,
S GopikrishnaI would recommend using the thin driver where ever possible, their are
certain problems with thin driver which are more in the area of XA support
you can check weblogic documentation for pointers on this. Oracles latest
thin driver is pretty stable as they have fixed a bunch of problems.
heres how to use thin driver:
create the connection pool using the following url
jdbc:oracle:thin:@<mc-name or ip-address>:<port-no>:<oracle sid>
and driver: oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
You dont have to install the thin driver its bundled with the product.

Hi,
I'm using the build-in Oracle 8.1.6 thin driver that comes with
weblogic.jar of WebLogic 6.0 SP2. It doesn't store CLOBs. Here I have
to use the class weblogic.jdbc.common.OracleClob. Why?
WebLogic 5.1 SP 9 + Oracle 8.1.6 thin driver (external) does. Here I
use the class oracle.sql.CLOB.
Must I use a OCI driver?
Thanks,
JuergenI'd also recommend to switch to 8.1.7 thin driver. It's more stable.

You can use thin driver to persist CLOB. One thing you must be sure to setautocommit
to false. Hope this help.

Problem JDBC Connection using OCI Driver on Weblogic Portal on Linux
Hi Team,
I want a JDBC connection using OCI Driver in Weblogic Portal 8.1 sp4 on Linux. When I had tested using JDBC connection using Plain Java Code it is working. Also when I create the OCI Connection Weblogic Connection Pool it is working.
But My Requirement is to create the connection using Java Code in Portal Application
But When I create OCI connection in the code it is throwing NO SUITABLE DRIVER Found.
---------- Code in Plain Java Code ------------ Same code is used in Weblogic Portal Application --------------------------------

String url="jdbc:oracle:oci8:@TESTDB";
Properties props = new Properties();
props.put("user","scott");
props.put("password","tiger");
conn=DriverManager.getConnection(url,props);
When I am using the same code in Weblogic Portal and Deployed on Weblogic Portal Server 8.1 SP4 it is throwing following error.

Edited by: vishnuk on Oct 23, 2009 4:10 AMHi Vishnu
Looks like a classloader issue. BEA class loader is very tricky. Any jar added manually in classpath, will end up loading only those classes. Any imports that we have in any of those classes do not get loaded. Anyhow, coming to your point, add classes12.jar inside your portal web project Web-Inf/lib folder and see if that helps. Usually thats where we put all the JARs for 8.1 SPxx applications. If this still breaks, then remove the jar from web-inf/lib folder and add under your portal app App-Inf/lib folder. First try with app-inf/lib folder having this jar. If not then with web-inf/lib. Basically web-inf is specific to that web app only. If you have a different app having this jdbc code, then put under app-inf/lib folder. Make sure that you remove the classes12.jar that you added in classpath either in env variable or in setdomainenv.cmd file.
When weblogic uses native OCI Drivers, it refers to jars at this location: ....\beawlp814\weblogic81\server\ext\jdbc\oracle\10g or 9g. Try using one of these jars and see if that works. Most of the times I used these jars only for oracle specific native drivers.
Word of caution. Try to use Connection Pool and a DataSource created in weblogic console for your jdbc code. This Datasource can still use the Oracle drivers that you want (instead of BEA Weblogic wrapper oci drivers) located in above location. Use JNDI Lookup and get Datasource and then connection. This is more recommended approach with many advantages then using DriverManager approach..

How to use thin drivers and classes111.zip?
I'm using jdk1.2 and making connection with Oracle8 database using an applet. I resolved the issue
of security by using the policytool. But now I want to know how can I use the Thin Driver to connect with the database?
the code which I had written is :-
import java.sql.*;
try{
DriverManager.registerDriver(new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
con=DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:cbcpeter","scott","tiger");
st=con.createStatement();
}catch(Exception e){System.out.println(e);}
and it gives the following error "Class oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver not found"
So please tell me where to place the classes111.zip or classes12.zip and how to use them?
I had tried with the jdbcodbc driver, but it gives me the error "Cannot load Resource File sqresus.dll"
thanx in advance!well, i had the same problem some months ago, the READ ME OF HOW TO INSTALL IN THE ORACLE SITE IT IS INCORRECT!!! i cant remember it right, but the directory pertaining to the read me file is WRONG! im 100% sure because when i changed the directory to its correct path it WORKED!!! so u have to use common sense...
also, if u r using tomcat 4.0.x try adding the location og the classes111.zip in the catalina.bat, coz when u run tomcat, it overrides the classpaths, etc that has been set in the autoexec.bat...
also, dont unzip the file...
i hope this helps... i had my code in another computer so i can post it here... -

The problem: I need both installations, and I need the driver to show up on both installations. When I restart the installation program for the driver, I only can repair it (for the 8.0 installation) or remove it (which I don't want to).
How can I use the driver in both installations?Now this is quite embarassing Someone might want to delete this thread.
I didn't think it was that easy.
Thank you, works -
How to use security roles in Weblogic server?
Hello Gurus,
I am new to Weblogic server and I am trying to investigate how to make
use of security roles in weblogic server (5.1.0). Can anyone point me
to some documentation. Specifically, I am looking for instance level,
and method level security and how to use it.
Thanks for taking your time to read this e-mail.
Thank You all in advance,
Hari.You should read the security information in the Servlet 2.2 specification
that WL 5.1 implements:
http://java.sun.com/products/servlet/download.html
Chapter 11 deals with declarative and programmatic security, and includes a
section on roles:
11.4 Roles
A role is an abstract logical grouping of users that is defined by the
Application Developer or
Assembler. When the application is deployed, these roles are mapped by a
Deployer to security
identities, such as principals or groups, in the runtime environment.
A servlet container enforces declarative or programmatic security for the
principal associated with
an incoming request based on the security attributes of that calling
principal. For example,
1. When a deployer has mapped a security role to a user group in the
operational environment. The
user group to which the calling principal belongs is retrieved from its
security attributes. If the
principal's user group matches the user group in the operational environment
that the security
role has been mapped to, the principal is in the security role.
2. When a deployer has mapped a security role to a principal name in a
security policy domain, the
principal name of the calling principal is retrieved from its security
attributes. If the principal is
the same as the principal to which the security role was mapped, the calling
principal is in the
security role.

How to use 7344 driver with vc under rtx ?
Hello everyone
I am using the PCI 7344 card.Under windows system I use the flexmotion32.dll well with vc,but when I use it under rtx ,it does not work,appering " can not load the driver".The fact is ,as most say,the driver is not suitable under non-windows systems. So I wonder
if there is driver under the rtx,or how to use the windows driver under the rtx.
If it is necessary to develop my own motion driver,what can I do?Does 7344 support register lever programming ? If it does, Can I get the register map of the 7344?
Hope your reply!!
Thank you!!Hello !
Presently I don`t have ni motion DDK, and it appears that there is no available link to download the DDK at ni`s web.So I wonder if there is more detailed information about the pci-7344 card, for example the port of the registers ,how to mapping to the physical memory etc.
Another question is if ni can offer the source code of the ni motion driver for us to reference!
Thank you!!
Hope your reply!!! -
