How to use utility jars without -cp

I am trying to use a 3d loader from starfire research to load .3ds files. I currently have the jar in /lib/ext and netbeans sees this and uses it, and everything works perfectly fine. When I use this on other machines for a test, I put the 3d loader jar in to the client /lib/ext folder, but my program cannot find it. Any suggestions on where to put this jar without me having to use -cp every time?

I'll try to explain better. The 3DS Loader I'm using is called StarfireExt.jar. I have two computers that I am using right now: a custom built desktop with Windows XP 32 bit that runs Netbeans, and a Dell laptop that I'm using to test my software. On the desktop, I have JDK1.6u18 with Java3D also installed. StarfireExt.jar is in my C:/Program Files/Java/jdk1.6.0_18/lib/ext/ folder, and Netbeans allows me to import and use StarfireExt. On the laptop, I have JRE1.6u20, Java3D, and StarfireExt in the lib/ext/ folder. When I'm on the desktop in Netbeans and press F6, it runs fine and the 3DS files load and are displayed. When I clean and build the JAR and move all of the models and JAR to my laptop, the program seems not able to find StarfireExt. The models don't load; no error windows that I've coded pop up.
P.S. I'm sorry if I'm kind of a Java newbie. I don't know all those awesome developer tricks yet.

Hi Sidharth,
If you are using web dynpro DC perspective then you need to follow the following points to use the external jar files in it.
1. Create a external library project.
2. copy the external jars in the library folder os the projects.
3.) Select all the jars from the u201CLibrariesu201D folder, Right click and then select Development Component and click on Add to Public Part
4.Select the first Radio Button (Provides an API)and give some nameto it.
5. Repeat the step no 3 but now select the second radio button other than as selected in step no 4.
6. Now build your lirary DC.
7. Now create a j2ee DC project.
8. ) Expand the node DC Definition and Right Click on Used DC. Select Add Used DC.
9. Select the External Library DC with build time dependency.
10.Right click on the J2EE DC and then select Development Component followed by Build
11. Right click on the J2EE DC and then select Development Component followed by Deploy
now you can use both the libary DC and the j2ee DC in your web dynpro DC as used DC.
But if you have created a web dynpro project only(but not DC) than you can directly add the external jars in java build path

I'm developing project in JBuilder which uses BC library "bcprov-jdk15-137.jar" This jar I got in reguired libraries section and it work fine in case that I run my application through JBuilder. Now I created executable jar file for my application but it works wrong. I don't know what dependencies shall I setup in JBuilder
Can somebody help how can I run my application from jar file and I will use BC lilbrary without problem ?.

I created new project(Frame application) in JBuilder 2006, Im using mentioned library therefore I put it into reguired libraries in project setting. When I run application through JBuilder (F9) it works fine.
Now I would create executable jar file from my project, which will use this mentioned library. My project has one class CMTModule.class with main function. I created jar file via achrive wizard(AppletJAR). There are options of dependency rules in this wizard, so I choose Includes dependencies. Then I created manifest file and insert this item Main-Class: cmt.CMTModule.
My application start but works wrong , I mean that there is problem with necessary library is not imported. How can I set up it in order to my executable jar can use this library without problems, because in JBuilder all works fine.
What's is wrong ?

How to use migration assistant without creating dual user accounts

I want to use migration assistant to transfer apps, software & files on my macbook pro to my new macbook air. How can I do this without creating two user accounts for myself on the m-book air -- my account from the m-book pro & the one that the air makes me create as soon as I do start-up? Can I just use the same name & password for both? or will that make things go badly awry?

If you have not booted the MBA for the first time and gone through the Setup Assistant, then I would use the Setup Assistant to make the transfer before you even create another user account. However, if you've already created the new user account on the MBA, then create a new admine one with a different username than the account you will migrate. Log into this new account, delete the first account you made, then use Migration Assistant to transfer your account from the MBP.

How to use a jar from a external library DC Project?

I followed the steps of how to create DC, External Library Project, which contains the jar I want.
I understood that this type of project can't be deployed so I build and deployed other DC Project from the type J2EE server component Library and added it to it's public part. What do I do next, to actually use the jar and it's imports?

The RfcAdapter trys to find a Sender Agreement for this RFC call but the lookup failes. The values used for this lookup are:
Sender Party/Sender Service: The values from Party and Service belonging to the sender channel.
Sender Interface: The name of the RFC function module.
Sender Namespace: The fix RFC namespace urn:sap-com:document:sap:rfc:functions
Receiver Party/Receiver Service: These fields are empty. This will match the wildcard

How to use LR6 standalone without signing into cc?

GD this company will not give standalone customers peace and quiet. Shove the creative cloud down our throats whether we want it or not.
I cannot launch LR6 without being signed into cc. I paid for the stand alone edition. Does anyone know the magic mojo to get the dam thing right?

I ended here for a slightly different reason (the actual installation - for anyone interested - see below)
Since I'm here, I can try to give your question, as I understand it, my best shot:
- To check if your serial number "sticks", i.e. is not in trial or subscription mode: Go to the Help menu - System Info...
then if the 2nd line in the window that opens reads: "License: Perpetual", that's all you can do, re-installing won't make a difference.
- In that case, getting that annoying Adobe ID Sign-In message anyway (even if, like me, you don't want to do anything online, sync or otherwise):
there isn't much else to do but close the window without signing in and confirm to quit - Yes... every bleepin' time you launch LR6
I have not found a Preference to disable that check, even under the Lightroom mobile tab (which at least, like the Help menu, confirms you're not signed in). Maybe in a future update they'll have an option to disable that check on startup, at least after the first time (but not yet in 6.0.1, the latest one so far)
Otherwise either cave in and make at least a dummy Adobe ID, or the only other solution: Go back to LR5, unless you need the new functions...
It's still installed separately on my machine, and I have a pre-LR6 backup of my catalogs, so I'll play around with it for a couple of days before deciding. It's certainly my last Adobe product.
Now the reason I ended up here: The INSTALLER actually FORCES you to sign in with Adobe ID even with a VALID SERIAL, which is just plain bovine stuff, and the utterly unhelpful Adobe Chat employee didn't answer my question, pointed me towards Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Help | Serialize Lightroom CC trial to activate as Lightroom 6 (which still expects you to log in, no matter what you try later) and disconnected. Grrrr.
Here's the work-around for that:
- DISCONNECT your network connection temporarily (Turn off WiFi, unplug the ethernet cable...)
- Launch the installer, click on the "I have purchased" half => it will complain there's no internet connection
- But a "Connect Later" button appears => click on it => get the old serial# screen, enter serial (& if necessary re-connect, then enter prior serial to upgrade )
- Next screen, Accept Terms, then next screen choose your install options and there you go.
- You will of course have to get back online to validate the serial within a few days, like before, but at least you skipped the whole Adobe ID Sign-In nonsense, and not deal with the creepy "Starting with this version... share your information with Adobe how you use Lightroom... is turned on by default..."

I am a student currently working on a project involving the Gridworld case study. While trying to work on my project at home, I discovered that I would get new "cannot find symbol" compiler errors that I had not previously gotten while compiling the same code at school. I am assuming this has something to do with the .jar file included in the gridworld code. How do I get textpad and/or the java compiler to find and use the .jar file and reccognise the classes which i am importing and extending in my project?

How to use client.jar generated by deploytool for a EJB web service

Could anyone help me?
I use Sun Application Server to deploy my EJB module and expose it as a web service. Then I open deploytool tree and select localhost under Server branch. In the right panel it shows a list of web services deployed. I chose recently deployed service and press "Client Jar..." button to get generated client stubs.
Good.
Could anyone tell me how I should use this jar file? It does not contain ..._Service_Impl.class that is usually used to get service port and call service methods.
Please, explain me.

jar tf Client.jar and look at what is inside.
Usually you run the client to connect to the server -- (java -classpath blah pack.age.name.Client)
Dont know how its being done over there.

Currently when I follow the instructions and try to run "java tool.doc.ExtractText a.pdf" I recieve a ClassNotFoundException. the jar file I am using(Multivalent.jar) is currently located is /home/myusername/prog and the current CLASSPATH is also /home/username/prog. Can someone please explain to me what I am doing wrong?
