How to view XML file generated by Reports 6i in browser ?

Hi,
I have generated a report in XML file format. However, when I open this file in a browser, it displays the contents in the browser in the following fashion :

I want to display this content in a user-friendly mode. Because the user can not understand in the above format.
Does IE or Netscape support the XML file ??
I have heard that to view the XML file, one has to install XML Parcels. Is it true ??
I am using Reports 6i & IE 5.0

What you are seeing in your browser is XML.
IE 4 and above will display the XML correctly.
XML is not ment to be beautiful for this you get other formats HTMLCSS etc.
To get XML to be more nicely output you need to apply XSL on top of it. You can specify XSL tag in the reports XML prolog property.

I'm not familiar with jsp but logic should be as follows:
-in jsp page instantiate XML parser
-load specified BLOB into parser
Now you may traverse the XML tree or you might load XSL file and use transform method to transform XML according to XSL file.
I have an example where I'm selecting XML straight from relational database and then transform it using XSL into appropriate HTML output, but it's written in PSP.
You can try http://www.w3schools.com/default.asp for basics on XML, CSS, XSL. It's easy to follow with good examples.

How to query XML file RDL SSRS Report to find column titles?

I have list of SSRS reports theirRDL file. How can we query the file to find like text book name as below( <Textbox Name="bippie_passed_qa_photostamps_orders_amount">). Catlog t able in report server does not provide column title
but i am trying to find column title through RDL file. How can we query in SQL server 2012 version too? I am new in XML please help is appreciated.

You will first need to get your report XML from the dbo.Catalog table but something like this should work:

This is generating pdf successfully.
As per requirement from Oracle GSI team, they need index xml file of corresponding generated pdf file for their own business scenario.

How to retrieve data from xml file into obiee reports

I've got a situation here. A xml file is stored as blob in oracle database table. Now i need to retrieve data/info from that xml file into obiee reports. How am i supposed to proceed with this ?

In two words, you can create a function that behave as a table. Then you create a function to pick up your xml, you parse it and you send back the rows.
I know that Oracle has also a library for XML files but I never use it until now.

How to trigger web service automatically when xml file generated at static

Hi Experts,
I have developed web service to read content from XML file.
I need to setup like whenever new xml file generated on static location (eg:E:\xml_files) generated web service should trigger automatically.
My requirement:
1) XML FIle content: have 3 tags with nultiple records.
2) Configured Weblogic Apploication server on JDev 11g
3) Developed Java code to read XML content and store it in Oracle Database.
4) created web service and called java class.
above 4 points, which I did already.
I appreciate if any one help me out, when ever new file created on static location, web service should triggered automatically and stored the data in to data oracle DB.

Hope you are looking for a SOA Suite/OSB solution for this.
If SOA Suite - You can configure a JCA File Read adapter to read off the XML file and then use a mediator/composite to invoke your WS.
If OSB - You can configure a File read transport or a JCA Adapter to read off the XML file and then use a route node/service callout to invoke your WS.

Creating sample XML file from Oracle Reports

I did a search and could not find a good answer - hopefully this is not a dumb question.
We are getting around to evaluating this tool, and I have looked at the whitepapers/user guides. I viewed the flash demo on how to build a template using the add-in. All of this seems really easy to do once you have the XML file generated.
We have a custom report that outputted to PDF. Its a very simple report, so I went ahead and switch the output type to XML. When I go to view the file through the View Output button, it gives me an error about not being able to view it - the error says it cannot display the XML data with the current style sheet - gives a line number for the temporary file and thats about it.
Question is this - should I be able to see the XML file through concurrent manager, or do I physically have to go the ouput directory and grab the file? I understand the whole process of hooking up a template to a concurrent program once I create it, but I figure having the data would make creating the template easier. Sort of a chicken and the egg things.

That sounds like a browser issue.
once you flip the output to XML the 'Output' file from the concurrent manager will now be XML, try doing a save as rather than opening directly or use Tools>Copy file.

How to refresh XML file from my client machine

Hai All
I have temp.XML and temp.XSL template in our server machine.
when i give a print from client machine first time it gives the record,and next time it did not get refresh.Always it shows the previous records in the browser.But when i go into the server machine and click on temp.xml,it shows the current record(correct records)

You never delete a Time Machine backup by dragging it to the Trash. You are supposed to use the TM application to manage the backups. What you will need to do now is to simply erase the drive using Disk Utility.
