How to view xml query plans graphically

I am using sp_whoisactive. It creates a query_plan column that contains xml. when i click on it, it launches a new query window where i see the xml. not sure when it is not launching the graphicalexecution plan. i can save the xml file. but what do i launch
to open the xml file to see the graphical query plan?

>what do i launch to open the xml file to see the graphical query plan
Rename the file from .xml to .sqlplan and use Open File to launch it.

  • How to setup a query plan in effective at any time for SP or SQL query?

    I have a SP which include a group by SQL statement. It retrieve data from a couple of tables which are over 1G size,
    When I run this SP at first time, it take more than 5 minutes to get the result. then I run it again and again, Finally, it become very quick, I can get the result within second.
    Not sure why. I guess it is because of query plan.
    How to make it running at first time to get result within second? How to force a better best query plan in effective at first time to run the query?
    If the engine has better plan in memory, could it be lost at some point? because I have the complain from end user said some times it is fast, sometime it is very slow.
    How to resolve this problem?

    thanks, kevin. Here is the pesudo query( I modify table name as business rule from my company). you are right, mytab3 is a lookup table.
    Select d.stock,i.description,c.categoryname,
    Round(IsNull(Sum(d.qty),0),2) AS qty,
    From mytab1 d,mytab2 s,invent i,mytab3 c
    Where

  • How to view XML file generated by Reports 6i in browser ?

    Hi,
    I have generated a report in XML file format. However, when I open this file in a browser, it displays the contents in the browser in the following fashion :
    <?xml version="1.0" ?>
    - <!-- Generated by Oracle Reports version 6.0.8.8.3

    - <MSIO1O>
    - <LIST_G_CMEM_CD>

    <NAME1>-</NAME1>
    <STATUS_DATE1>11-OCT-00</STATUS_DATE1>
    <EXCHANGE1>BSE</EXCHANGE1>
    </G_CMEM_CD>
    I want to display this content in a user-friendly mode. Because the user can not understand in the above format.
    Does IE or Netscape support the XML file ??
    I have heard that to view the XML file, one has to install XML Parcels. Is it true ??
    I am using Reports 6i & IE 5.0
    Your help will be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    What you are seeing in your browser is XML.
    IE 4 and above will display the XML correctly.
    XML is not ment to be beautiful for this you get other formats HTMLCSS etc.
    To get XML to be more nicely output you need to apply XSL on top of it. You can specify XSL tag in the reports XML prolog property.

  • How to view XML-Request sent to Mapviewer

    Hello,
    I am using the Mapviewer Javascript Api and would like to have a look at the xml request which was sent to the Mapviewer. When setting the log level to FINEST I can see the requests but not the real XML.
    All hints are welcome.

    Hi,
    You can catch this in different ways:
    - browser addons/plugins (FireBug, HTTPFox for firefox or something similar for your browser) etc;
    - if you prefer some kind of network sniffer - wireshark or similar helps;
    these are the things I usually use, someone can share other ways;

  • Viewing XML in forms 10g

    How to view XML in forms 10g?
    I have a message in XML/HL7 format and display information a end user.
    Thanks you all.
    Dario

    RTM first!
    If it's PL/SQL written in the form, that executes on the application server, that has a PL/SQL engine.
    If it's a call to a procedure stored in the database, that executes in the database.
    If it's SQL, then that can execute nowhere else except in the database.
    Do not imagine that the applet does any other thing except rendering what you see on screen and handling the clicks and keystroke to the application server (which does the further processing, handling to the database the SQL that has to be executed).
    Briefly, that's the basics.

    How to view XML in forms 10g?
    I have a message in XML/HL7 format and display information a end user.
    Thanks you all.

    There are many options to do this. From creating additional "locking" table to keep track of what users are doing, to simply use forms built-in Lock_Record in when-new-record-instance.
    One option is to use dbms_application_info in when-new_record-instance and set action to the customer_id.
    DECLARE
      CURSOR c_action IS
      select username
      from v$session
      where action = :customers.customer_id;
      v_user varchar2(50);
    BEGIN
    OPEN c_action;
    FETCH c_action INTO v_user;
    CLOSE c_action;
    IF v_user is NOT NULL THEN
         message ('User '||v_user||' is working with customer '||:customers.customer_id);
         set_block_property  ('customers',UPDATE_ALLOWED,PROPERTY_FALSE);
    ELSE
         set_block_property  ('customers',UPDATE_ALLOWED,PROPERTY_TRUE);
         dbms_application_info.set_action (:customers.customer_id);
    END IF;
    END;You may add check for record status, or use set_item_property instead of block property etc.

    I am not sure that this is a good example - the query either executes very fast, or never has a chance to start executing. But, it might still make your point physical I/O is not always the problem when performance problems are experienced.

  • How to view the sql query?

    hi,
      how to view the sql query formed from the xml structure in the receiver jdbc?

    You can view SAP Note at
    http://service.sap.com/notes
    But you require SMP login ID for this which you should get from your company. The content of the notes are as follows:
    Reason and Prerequisites
    You are looking for additional parameter settings. There are two possible reasons why a feature is available via the "additional parameters" table in the "advanced mode" section of the configuration, but not as documented parameter in the configuration UI itself:
    Category 1: The parameter has been introduced for a patch or a SP upgrade where no UI upgrade and/or documentation upgrade was possible. In this case, the parameter will be moved to the UI and the documentation as soon as possible. The parameter in the "additional parameters" table will be deprecated after this move, but still be working. The parameter belongs to the supported adapter functionality and can be used in all, also productive, scenarios.
    Category 2. The parameter has been introduced for testing purposes, proof-of-concept scenarios, as workaround or as pre-released functionality. In this case, the parameter may or may not be moved to the UI and documentation, and the functionality may be changed, replaced or removed. For this parameter category there is no guaranteed support and usage in productive scenarios is not supported.
    When you want to use a parameter documented here, please be aware to which category it belongs!
    Solution
    The following list shows all available parameters of category 1 or 2. Please note:
    Parameter names are always case-sensitive! Parameter values may be case-sensitive, this is documented for each parameter.
    Parameter names and values as documented below must be used always without quotaton marks ("), if not explicitly stated otherwise.
    The default value of a parameter is always chosen that it does not change the standard functionality
    JDBC Receiver Adapter Parameters
    1. Parameter name: "logSQLStatement"
                  Parameter type: boolean
                  Parameter value: true for any string value, false only for empty string
                  Parameter value default: false (empty String)
                  Available with: SP9
                  Category: 2
                  Description:
                  When implementing a scenario with the JDBC receiver adapter, it may be helpful to see which SQL statement is generated by the JDBC adapter from the XI message content for error analysis. Before SP9, this can only be found in the trace of the JDBC adapter if trace level DEBUG is activated. With SP9, the generated SQL statement will be shown in the details page (audit protocol) of the message monitor for each message directly.
                  This should be used only during the test phase and not in productive scenarios.

  • Query Rewrite (QSM-01263) and Views in Execution Plan

    Hello!
    I created a query rewrite enabled materialized view from a query, which contains only tables (no views). Query rewrite didn't work, so i checked the query with dbms_mview.explan_rewrite, which told my that my query contains references to views or dictionary tables. I checked my query again, but there are only tables, no views, no dictionary tables.
    When I look in the execution plan of my query I see that the query optimizer generates views, I guess from my subquery (?). "A view definition was processed, either from a stored view...or as defined by steps...".
    I suppose that's the reason why my query rewrite doesn't work. All my other mat views are working fine, so the usual parameters (query_rewrite_enabled, integrity, etc.) are set correctly.
    Do you have any ideas how to get my query rewrite enabled work?
    Thanks!

    Modifying the query (potentially with hints) so that Oracle doesn't do the view transformation would be one option.

  • How to view AR dunning letter XML file (raw data)?

    Hi,
    Can anybody tell how to view AR dunning letter XML file (raw data) as I like to modified the dunning letter and like to know which fields I can add to our dunning letter layout. thanks.

    Hi
    These are the steps you need to do to get the output in XML Raw format.
    Step 1
    1- Go to System Administrator -> Concurrent -> Program - Define
    2- Query the Dunning Letter Print
    3- Set the format output as XML
    Step 2
    1- Ftp Oracle E-business suite Server
    2- Get the file ARDLP.rdf from $AR_TOP/reports
    3- Open the report using Oracle Reports
    4- Change the output to XML.
    ARDLP.rdf is a report provided by Oracle Corporation so it is a good idea to make a backup of the same,
    before making any changes. Hope this will help.

    Ali

  • How to print from a planning view in APO SNP ?

    Does anybody know how to print on paper from the planning view in the planning book.
    I have made a view with a key figure.
    In the view, I can see the productnumber, the key figure and the values.
    Some users want to print it on paper.

    Hi,
    CSV method of download is the SAP standard format for saving the
    files.
    You can either create your own custom logic for saving in excel or
    use BW functionality for extracting the required fields and form a
    report to save & print in excel

  • CM14 BI Publisher - modifying an existing Data Model, the Graphic View in Query Builder does not display

    I am trying to edit the default forms/reports that come with CM14, trying to edit the data model, data set, (to get to the old Infomaker style graphic view) , the Query model does not display (error the list of tables is too long..) Oracle tell me the limit is 60,  there are not 60 tables referenced in any CM report.
    Does this Query builder view work at all on any report?
    (bigger question, we are moving from CM12, should we move to CM13 which works with infomaker?)
    Thanks,
    Paul L

    Kurt, thanks for your replies.
    A couple of notes/clarifications.
    1.     You are correct that BI works better in Firefox--I have observed issues with the BI display when using IE.  I would recommend using Firefox too.
    2.     You are correct about the way to get to the Query Builder to see a graphical view of data tables.  There are basically two issues with this that I mentioned, but will re-iterate:
    a.  If you have an EXISTING query in the data set, then click the "Query Builder" button, this will remove the existing query that's there, it will NOT display the existing query in the query builder.  Query Builder works only to create a NEW query from scratch.
    b.  Query builder is limited to selecting 60 fields max in your query.  If you are creating a large report with many tables, you may find that 60 fields is not enough.  For that you will have to work in the SQL edit screen rather than using the query builder.
    I would impress on anyone developing CM14 reports that they become familiar with the database schema and relationships to avoid problems when developing your BI reports.  You should be able to find the tables and joins documentation in the knowledgebase.

  • SQL 2012 SP1 - How to determine a query that causes Error 8623 in SQL Log: The query processor ran out of internal resources and could not produce a query plan. This is a rare event...

    We are getting multiple 8623 Errors in SQL Log while running Vendor's software.
    How can you catch which Query causes the error?
    I tried to catch it using SQL Profiler Trace but it doesn't show which Query/Sp is the one causing an error.
    I also tried to use Extended Event session to catch it, but it doesn't create any output either.
    Error:
    The query processor ran out of internal resources and could not produce a query plan. This is a rare event and only expected for extremely complex queries or queries that
    reference a very large number of tables or partitions. Please simplify the query. If you believe you have received this message in error, contact Customer Support Services for more information.
    Extended Event Session that I used;
    CREATE EVENT SESSION
        overly_complex_queries
    ON SERVER
    ADD EVENT sqlserver.error_reported
        ACTION (sqlserver.sql_text, sqlserver.tsql_stack, sqlserver.database_id, sqlserver.username)
        WHERE ([severity] = 16
    AND [error_number] = 8623)
    ADD TARGET package0.asynchronous_file_target
    (SET filename = 'E:\SQLServer2012\MSSQL11.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Log\XE\overly_complex_queries.xel' ,
        metadatafile = 'E:\SQLServer2012\MSSQL11.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Log\XE\overly_complex_queries.xem',
        max_file_size = 10,
        max_rollover_files = 5)
    WITH (MAX_DISPATCH_LATENCY = 5SECONDS)
    GO
    -- Start the session
    ALTER EVENT SESSION overly_complex_queries
        ON SERVER STATE = START
    GO
    It creates only .xel file, but not .xem
    Any help/advice is greatly appreciated

    Hi VK_DBA,
    According to your error message, about which query statement may fail with error message 8623, as other post, you can use trace flag 4102 & 4118 for overcoming this error. Another way is looking for queries with very long IN lists, a large number of
    UNIONs, or a large number of nested sub-queries. These are the most common causes of this particular error message.
    The error 8623 occurs when attempting to select records through a query with a large number of entries in the "IN" clause (> 10,000). For avoiding this error, I suggest that you could apply the latest Cumulative Updates media for SQL Server 2012 Service
    Pack 1, then simplify the query. You may try divide and conquer approach to get part of the query working (as temp table) and then add extra joins / conditions. Or You could try to run the query using the hint option (force order), option (hash join), option
    (merge join) with a plan guide.
    For more information about error 8623, you can review the following article.
