How was this site built ???

I came across this Flash site and was wondering what product,
other than Flash, would have been used to build it.
http://www.mitsubishi-motors.com.au/red/
What I'm particular interested to know is how the 3d
transitions were accomplished after a menu item is clicked. I
imagine it would have been done is some other program and brought
into Flash.

This was probably done in a sophisticated 3D program like
3DStudio Max,
Maya, or Lightwave, etc. While the 3D is done by highly
skilled artist(s),
what's just as important is the planning for the transitions
between the 3D
scenes and the overall planning effort which seems to be a
large effort in
and of it's own.

  • How was this site made. Need HELP!

    Hi everyone
It's the first time I post here, so I hope some will understand my problem.
I recently came upon this site http://weightshift.com and loved how they had made it dynamic or I think liquid. No mater how much it is scaled it looks great. It can be viewed on an iPhone, perfectly fitting the screen. Also when the site is scaled down and reaches a certain size, the logo jumps above the Contact and about buttons.
I am currently studying at TAFE for Cert. IV and my dreamweaver teacher has no clue. So I have to figure it out by myself.
Does anyone have any clue how this could be achieved. Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks in advanced.
    Manuel

No surprise your teacher doesnt get it. when I did the cert IV the 30 html tutorials we did revolved around how great table based layouts are. suffice to say I didnt listen to that rubbish, and unfortunately the curriculum is just a wee bit behind where it really should be.
what you are looking at is responsive design.
you wont get any real relevant information regarding this at w3schools, its more for basics.
    it utilises media queries.
    http://www.w3.org/TR/css3-mediaqueries/
yes technically you can use the dw fluid grid layout, but i'd advise that you learn the process behind how to style accordingly with media queries before using someones already setup concept of how to do it. (and I've never done a site with just 3 media queries, sorry dreamweaver, thats just wrong.) I personally utilise (and each to their own with this) a min 320+ style, a 320-480 (or therabouts), 480-767 (or therabouts) (3x) 768-1024 (landscape, portrait and for desktops), 1025-1300 (or therabouts), 1301-1440 (or therabouts) and a 1440+. I always start mobile first
essentially the theory is to design your "design" flexible and where it "breaks" add a breakpoint. I try to make it not necessarily based on the device in theory but with the majority of phones sitting around the 320/640 mark, tablets around the 768/1024 mark. then laptops, desktops, and larger screens all seeming to congregate loosely around these higher figures...once youve set your parameters (and the above would cover the majority of devices) test, test, test!!!!
remember good ol' IE will struggle with this. there are many work arounds, some better than other. I usually just offer a fixed width site for IE.

  • How was this done - movable shape that changes percentage

I saw a presentation that had a pointer that the user could smoothly drag along a horizontal line, and when moving the pointer, the percentage underneath the pointer automatically changed. The pointer can be moved horizontally along the line, but cannot be moved vertically.
How was this done --- Is this something that can be accomplished in Captivate, or was it done in another program and inserted into Captivate? See two examples below.

AFAIK this can be done in Captivate, if you include some widgets (thinking about the Slider component widget of InfoSemantics). But widgets are not compatible with HTML5 output.
For HTML5, Edge Animate could produce that kind of interactivity as well, and you can embed an OAM package in Captivate, using the App packager in CP7, and right away in CP8.

How was this "Flash" animation done?
    http://www.templatemonster.com/flash-templates/15812.html
There is a "flash" that goes down the sholder of a man in this Flash intro page. It is a series of jpg images. Do you know how this can be done or which program was used? I want to chage the page of it.
    Thanks, Steve

    Hi Steve,
I'm pretty sure it's done with a mask. You have the man picture layer and the border layout masked by a symbol (maybe a square or rectangle) above it.
If you want to know how to use mask in Flash, just ask Google. There is a bunch of tutorial on the web.
Hope it's a good start for you !

  • How was this done (Stacking)?

    Hello!
How was this effect done? http://www.riccardomagherini.com/fine_art/, I think I know how it is finished in PS, but how do you shoot this?

    Hi Alex,
this tool is usually called the Blur or soft-focus effect (translated from my German PS). Many programs offer this brush for applying to the effect. Often you can select the photo, create a soft edge selection and then make the selection using filter blurred or you yourself blur some of the image areas.
And we have the tool "Unsharp Mask". For this purpose, only the original image and a blurred version are required. The layer structure, however, shows good results only if your program supports 32-bit color depth, like Photoshop.
On the other hand, I'm sure you will get better explanations, by asking Riccardo Magherini himself at http://www.riccardomagherini.com/fine_art/contact/. I'm sure you will get answers marked of a professional competence and responsibility.

It could be one of the effects in Swish.

  • How was this effect created?

    Hi,
Can anyone tell me what was done to create the cool effect at this site?
    www.robbiecrawford.com
When the links on the left are rolled-over an image appears in a small window that follows the cursor. Very cool.
I was hoping to learn how to do that, myself, but can't figure it out. No need for a step-by-step tutorial, just a word or two to point me in the right direction.
    THANK YOU!

It could essentially involve a movieclip that follows the mouseY property with a minor bit of tweening to a stop, possibly triggered by a MOUSE_MOVE event.  Hover over/out of the individual menu items loads/unloads a preview image in the movieclip.

  • How was this background created?

    Hi,
    From this site:
    https://www.softwarekey.com/
I've downloaded the attached jpg image.
Notice the background has a nice wash or maybe soft stone effect. I'm talking about the soft diagonal lines. Not the gradient so much. Can someone give me pointers how to get this? I've tried brushes, patterns, textures. I've tried various gradients. And I don't even get close.
    TIA.

a combination of Filter->Render->Fibers, Filter->Blur->Motion Blur and Filter->Blur->Surface Blur should get you close enough (it'll be a grayscale so you'll have to set it to the Overlay or Soft Light blend modes at reduced opacity). Can't give you exact numbers because in the short time i've been messing with it i haven't been able to get it to look exactly like that but it's close enough

These type of transitions are the easiest. Let me explain how
    it works.
From frame 1 to 10 you have some motion tween - fading in.
Than from frame 10 to 20 fading out, or motion out, like in
    your example motion out.
On that 10th frame there is an action that picks a variable
and go to frame in a
movie clip accordingly. All the button does is sets variable
    and play
the timeline, than timeline frame 10th action call the
    content and while
the fading is done, the content has been changed.
    Button :
    on (release) {
    _root.pa = 2;
    _root.play();
    than frame 10
    MovieClipWithContent.gotoAndPlay ("p" + _root.pa);
    Inside MovieCLipWithContent make labels p1 p2 p3 p4 p5 p6 p7
    and so on....

    Probably both.

  • How was this page made? [subject edited by moderator]

Hi, I am new to making websites so please forgive me my basic questions. I have seen a site that I really like and am wondering how it was made, and whether it can be made with DW. It is called africatravelresource.com. Could some one explain to me whether they have just linked 100s of background images or is this a really cool slider they are using with transparencies? Thank you for your help

You're asking a weird question there, boiled down it becomes "How do I do what you do, without doing what you do?"
    It's difficult to answer.
If you're a graphic designer trying to make a quick website for yourself, Adobe Muse would probably be a better fit than Dreamweaver. You might be able to get something similar built there without understanding the underlying code. However, the drag and drop capabilities of Muse can create some exceptionally complex html. If you start your site off in Muse, it should stay there.
If you're not a designer to begin with, maybe one of those "create your own website" companies has a template you could use by clicking through their build process that has similar features to what you want. I have no experience with them, but some of the things I've seen are actually pretty decent from a few of them.
WordPress does offer some interesting themes. You might look into that if your hosting company offers WP installations. But if that's the route you choose, DW and Muse would be left out entirely. DW can be used to create a theme (by professional PHP coders), but once the site is "live" you pretty much only use the WP admin panel to make changes.

  • How was this created

I have a hard time believing that someone manually adjusted all 1200 gradient mesh nodes to cook this up just to sell it on a stock site...  Is there another way to generate meshes?  I need to do another version of this style...

Hah.  Ask me about your font cache and then you can call me conversant.
So, as I said above, I was hoping to avoid the gradient mask in the name of simplicity and started off as such:
Divide up a circle into 120 slices. Make it twist with an Envelope Distort (mesh), take one of the now-twisted slices, toss the rest,
Give it a gradient somewhat like the middle of the range of colors, make it into a symbol.
Make another smaller slice that's feathered a good bit and fits within the thicker (outer part) of the larger slice, make it yellower (part of my problem - it gets darker towards the outside, nolt lighter) and make that a symbol.
Effect->transform->transform to rotate around 119 times to get back to round.  Expand appearance to get 120 slices made of 2 symbols each.  Select-> same symbol instance and re-group as 2 groups, one of each symbol.  Use the symbol stainer to add variance.
Oh and make a version of the larger slice that's white with a dark inner glow, set to multiply, to add the dark lines.  I put a gradient/difference cloud opacity mask over it to try to dull it some - it was still too strong in the end.
    Problems:
would do better to be a blend between the symbols rather than using one feathered but can't because when you expand the rotate, you expand the blend.
the symbol stainer doesn't work very well, or very directly anyhow.  Adding yellow to red somehow gets green.  I would prefer it pull it towards yellow.
My next thought was to make a neutral starting slice that could be rotated around and adjusted with some randomly placed highlight/shading slices that would be blurred somehow.  That killed my afternoon, waiting for Illustrator to do a radial blur on ~2 dozen blends.  I thought my iMac would catch on fire.  Here's where I sit, with no blur:
And I feel cautiously optimistic, based on the possibility of actually performing the blur I imagine.
I guess I was hoping that someone could suggest a new starting point since my starting points seemed to be falling a fair bit short.  Maybe some insight as to how the original piece was created would help me to recreate it.
At this point, it's looking like I would have saved more time by doing gradient meshes! :-)
    Thanks!

  • How was this value of local currency determined during GR?

    Hi,
Please check below the relevant part of the PO History:
Our concern is how material document 5009866721 local value (2,446.37-) got calculated. It is reversal for GR 5009614955.
The exchange rate was not fixed on the PO. The PO document date is 15.11.2011.
The relevant exchange rates are as follows (from table TCURR):

    Tell me how ?
As you saying it again that you have cancelled the document 5009614955 from MIGO and the reversed document was generated 5009866721. Right ?
Then can you tell me how the Quantity, Reference got changed for reversed document,
As of my knowledge, you can't change the quantity or reference at the time of MIGO - Cancellation.
And one thing, if you have the option to change the quantity and reference, then your amount is calculated correctly.
Check your Amount tab (not is Amount in LC)..
You had done GR for 184 Qty and Amount was 3269.68.
Then you have cancelled the GR for Qty 138, so amount is calculating (3269.68/184 X 138) = 2452.26.
And well, I can see this is the amount for your cancelled document 5009866721.
And about your exchange rate, Your exchange rate was changed many times.
Check your all GRs (Amount in LC with compare with amount), you will find the differences.

  • How was this done?

see the effect on the name
I'm referring to the name coming in on the top left, you will
see it skewed then swing out like a gate and stop
I tried every which way to skew and scale to get a transition
to look like this and I find that the skew allows you to pull (lets
say) the left corner up while holding alt but the shape never
conforms. I tried doing it with text, breaking up the text,
creating a graphic and a movie symbol of the text and still can't
    do this.
No luck finding any tutorial or video on it either
    I'm on a Mac using CS3
    Any help?

Sorry, I thought I had the answer but I was wrong. This
effect was created one of two ways, in Illustrator or After
Effects. I have Illustrator CS3 and found out how to export
animations as swfs . So in my case I would have to create the text
effect and export as an swf (frame by frame animation) but this is
where I need help. I cannot find a way to export just a text effect
and drop it in an existing fla? Only way I could think of was using
loadMovie but there has to be a different way. I went ahead and
used a Flash decompiler and opened the swf of the link in the
original post with the text effect in it. In the fla the text
effect is in a layer with frame by frame animation inside a
movieclip on the main timeline. So how did they export an swf of
this text effect and get the effect into a movieclip since
Illustrator only exports swf's not fla's?
if I'm unclear in my explanation I'd be glad to clarify it.

  • How was this Steph Curry photo made?

Does anyone know how to do this or where can i find this online?

Interesting stuff.  My first thought that it was like a combination of mosaic, only using random (manually made) triangles, and then a posterization to make each triangle a single color.  Certainly something that could be done manually in Photoshop, but it'd take time.  I searched around a bit and found success using "polygonal vector mosaic".  That lead me to the buzz work "low-poly illustrations".  Ton of stuff on it.  Looks like most are using Illustrator with plugins, but I don't see why it couldn't be laid out with vector tools in PS - you just need a plugin to auto assign colors (or do it manually with the eyedropper).  The vector tools aren't as advanced as Illustrator, but it's pretty simple operations.
