How would I do a tracing animation?

I wanna take a png file and show a neon line trace the object. Can someone point me in the right tools are maybe a tutorial that would help me to achieve this?

A png file can be an image of anything. I don't know what a neon line trace is. I'm assuming that you have some kind of an image and you want to trace around the image with an outline that looks like a neon tube light at night.
The trace can be accomplished with a mask path that has stroke applied. You can apply other filters to the stroke like Glow to make give it the glowing effect. I'd start with a black solid, place it above your image, set the blend mode to screen, then use the pen tool to draw your outline. Then add stroke, pick a color, animate the start or end point to animate the line, then experiment with adding glow or duplicating the layer and adding some blurs until you come up with the look you're after.
It's the same technique that would be used to create a light saber effect except you're using a stroke instead of a solid.

  • How would I re-create this effect? (physical paper cutouts made to look animated)

    Here is a video of the effect I am trying to replicate: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGvNHFRIO08
    They use physical paper cut-outs (you can see the shadows and outlines in a few frames) but it almost seems animated -- the first time I watched it I thought they were green-screening the background.
    How would I get rid of the outlines around the cut out pieces of paper? I'm guessing it would involve increasing the contrast of the background dramatically, but not the hands?
    Just looking for ideas on how to get started. Thanks!

    Shooternz, you know what this is like to me? Lets say we both have guitars and you play some eric clapton thing I love..and I watch what you do and hear it, and love it, and for the LIFE OF ME can't DO IT MYSELF !!!!  So I am hanging out with you ( friend ) and you show me and even go " SLOWER" with left hand to show me what you're doing with fingers on frets, etc...and I little by little follow you along and litte by little get better and better at mimicking what you are doing...but also get into it re: my timing etc...

  • In action script, how would I be able to capture animation on the stage and save it to a file

    Are you still using iphoto?
    If so you should NOT move the iphoto library to the TC and use it.
    Apple says you will corrupt the library doing this.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5168
    Although mostly about FAT32  it adds network drives.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1198
    Now what I cannot tell you is if the same rules apply to the new photo app. Apple might have fixed the problem.
    For iphoto you should offload the photos to USB drive plugged into your computer.. or any external drive.. the faster the interface the better.
    Apple have explicit instructions for moving the library.

  • How do I open with an animated gif and then go to home page?

    I apologize for the newbie question, but I would like to have
    an animated gif intro to a web page. Is it possible to have the gif
    play and then go to the index file? Or do I need to insert the gif
    into an index file and save the home page as something different?
    If so, how do I get it to go to the home page automatically?
    Any help is appreciated.

    >I apologize for the newbie question, but I would like to

    This is called a 'splash page'. To do it, you'll make your
    default home page
    (index.html/default.html/whatever) this splash page, then
    you'll have then
    sent to whatever other page you want it to go to...either via
    a HREF or a
    META REFRESH tag.
    You can't actually time the refresh to coincide with the gif
    finishing it's
    animation, though. For that, you'd have to use Flash
    animation.
    But keep in mind that this technique is pretty much frowned
    upon these days.
    It's an unecessary barrier betwen your users and your content
    and is seen by
    many as a rather dated/amateur technique.

  • How can I create an arrow animation for my map

    Hi all ,
    I am new and would like to create an arrow animation moving to show a path on my map.
    how can I show this arrow animation on my jpg image?
    do I have to convert my image to gif first?
    do you have any tutorial for this so please show me.
    it would be better to be a step by step so I can better underestand each step.
    Iam using fireworks mx2004.
    thanks for any help.
    Regards

    The JPEG format does not support animation, so if you want to add a moving arrow to a map, you'd need to make an animated GIF or a Flash movie.
    If your map is a large image, then adding the frames to make an animated GIF could make very big file and that wouldn't be good. Another thing to keep in mind is that a JPEG image can have millions of colors but an animated GIF can only have 256. If your map is a line art (a drawing), then usually the GIF or PNG formats give you a better result, anyway as the JPEG format introduces noise and color shifts which are normally not noticed on photographs.
    I searched Google for "animated gif in fireworks mx" and this tutorial looks like it might be helpful:
    http://www.disdatdesigns.com/fireworks/animation1.shtml
    In your case, you would share your map across the frames and each new frame would have a different arrow on it.
    Good luck!

  • Need suggestion on how to do 3D spinning title animation

    Hello all experts,
    I need suggestion on how to do 3D rotating title animation. Let me explain what i wanted to do.
    The end product is the word WELCOME.
    But I want to animate it in such a way that the alphabelt W first appear as nothing from inside the screen to appear in the screen (that means zoom from small to big, is it called zoom out ?). In the process of zooming out, I want the W to have a thickness & it spins very fast along the horizontal X-axis and stops at the screen with the alphbelt W.
    Then the whole process repeat with E, and I have WE. It then repeats with L and I have WEL. This whole thing repeats until it forms the word WELCOME.
    Any suggestions ? Is there an inbuilt preset for this ?
    If not, if I do from scratch, do I need a separate track for each alphabelt ?
    Thank you very much.
    Cheers.

    Nick Holmes wrote:
    You would have to build this one from scratch, but it's pretty easy.
    Work on the whole word first to get the basic movement, then play with the Timing settings in the Inspector. To have the letters do this one after the other use the Sequence setting. Typically you would set it to the number of letters in your word plus 1 -so your welcome should have a Sequence value of 8. You can of course set it to whatever you think looks best.
    Give it a go and let us know how you get on. Don't forget to save your new effect!
    Thanks Holmes but where do I find the Sequence settings ?
    Thanks

  • How Can I Make a Flash Animation for TV?

    I'm learning flash animation and am wondering once I save the flash file to a dvd format, how does the end-user navigate when they put the dvd into their TV? Do I need to design and incorporate a menu for the end-user? If so, how does the TV remote control navigate through this menu that was created on a Mac computer? Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it.

    I don't know a lot about this subject but thought I'd give it a shot to answer.  You can use Adobe Encore to create menu systems for your DVD title screen.  As far as Flash is concerned I think you can import your animations into Encore's menu system though I'm not exactly sure how.  If you want to just make an animation that will be played back without interactivity you would just export your Flash animation as a Quicktime MOV file and import it into After Effects for further editing and finishing.  Once you render your mp4 (h.264) from AE you can bring this into Encore to author for your DVD.

    .MPEG4
    MP4
    .AVI
    .WMV
    .MPEGPS
    .FLV

    Can someone please tell my how to save any adobe flash animation/video into one of the above formats? thank you!

  • How Would I do This is Edge? JQuery.

    So when everything is loaded what I want to do is have the Page auto Scroll On its own!
    And then when it reaches the bottom of the page to go back to the top of the page and start again over and over can't seem to crack it
    Lets say I have a #Header Div at the top and a #Footer Div at the bottom to make things easier
    Any idea's ? I would be very greatful thank you.

    No I mean how would I automatically scroll to the bottom of the page and then back to the top using JQuery/Js something like this:
    function scroll(){
      $('html, body').animate({
        scrollTop: $("#footerOfPage").offset().top
      }, 0);
    Or Like this:
    function pageScroll() {
                  $('html, body').animate({scrollTop:3000});
                  scrolldelay = setTimeout('pageScroll()',100);
    Neither work...
    $('html, body').animate({scrollTop:3000}, 'slow');
    In compisitionReady Works But its way to fast and then i've got the problem of when it reaches 3000px or the Footer div I want it to go to 0px or Header Div and then start over again
    So when the page loads I want it to auto scroll to the footer (bottom) slowley and not to jump straight to the bottom but to be animated and slow scroll the page on its own! without a button press and when its at the bottom of the page I want it to go back to the top of the page and start again over and over....but using JQuery

  • How come I can't view animated gifs as animations...in websites that have..

    them they are animated, but if i dwnld them, the animations stop running...and preview just allows me to view each of the still frames that make up the animation, but nothing seems to make it run...say i want it to run on my desktop for example? how would i do this?
    any ideas? thanks!

    ok..so far that is the closest to what i'm looking for..thanks my friend...so now my final question reclarified....on the desktop, as in files or program icons i have on the desktop..if i have a gif, that is just stored on my desktop..is there no way to animate it just directly on the desktop without having an internet app open as a transparent window? does that make sense...like wherever finder has the preview icon open for the animated gif....depending on how you have your view options of course, is there a way to have THAT animated? or is that just not possible at this stage?
    and a secondary question i guess...which the more i think about it is really just another way of wording the exisitng one...is ther eany way independent of internet browser to watch a gif animation?

  • How can I repeat my flash animation (my frames)?

    Hi Flash forum members
    Can you help me somebody: How can I repeat my flash animation (my frames) many times?
    I will be looking forward to hearing from you,
    Sultan

    It depends on what you mean and how your design is done.
    You can copy and paste frames as many times along a timeline as you, though creating a movieclip of one set and placing that to extend the full length of the timeline would produce the same result.
    If the problem is that your animation stops when it is done, you need to be sure to not have any code in place that will stop it.

  • How would you realize a "blinking"-Effect

    The question narrows down to : Which is the best solution to trigger each 0,5 seconds an event (on the JavaFX thread) ?
    I could do this with a TimelineAnimation or with a Task<Void>, the problem withthe Task is that I have to update the UI with Platform.runLater() each time which is an impact on the overall perfomance. On the otherhand the TimerLineAnimation is useful to update a property and I do not think that it is the approriate method to realize a blink effect.
    How would you do this ?
    E.G. I have a circle. This shape is supposed to change its Color every 0,5 seconds (And there can be many of this circles..)

    I would use some kind of Transition, not because of any performance consideration but merely because it will keep your code cleaner. Used properly, a Task with Platform.runLater(...) to update the UI will be as efficient as anything else, but it can be a bit tricky to get it right (and using Transitions, you delegate the job of getting the code right to the JavaFX team, who are probably better at this kind of thing than either you or I).
    The Timeline will actually animate the transition between property values. Almost anything you want to do can be expressed as a change in property; your example of changing the color of a Circle simply involves changing the value of the fillProperty. So using a Timeline will fade one color into another.
    If you want a "traditional" blink, you could two PauseTransitions with the onFinished event set to change the color.
    This compares the two approaches:
    import javafx.animation.Animation;
    import javafx.animation.KeyFrame;
    import javafx.animation.KeyValue;
    import javafx.animation.PauseTransition;
    import javafx.animation.SequentialTransition;

  • How do I loop a single animation within a movie?

    Hi all,
    I'm sure this is very basic, but I'm having trouble finding an answer in the forum.
    To explain:
    I've created a flash banner for my website. This banner starts with an animation of text and the logo fading into frame.
    What I would like to do, once the introduction animation has played through, is periodically have the logo pulsate.
    I'd like to do this without obviously looping the entire animation. How would I set it to just loop a single movie in my scene.
    My banner is created using Actionscript 2.
    Any advice, and preferably suitable Actionscript 2 code, would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    C

    Put the pulsating animation inside a movieclip, so the frames are inside the movieclip where it loops itself leaving the main timeline to do whatever it needs. Research how movieclips work.
