How would I use the blur filter property

I commented out the alpha line in my script but I would like to use the blur filter property.
My animation seams a bit abrupt an easing effect can that be doe or not ... if so how?
Please take a look at the attached pictures for more detail ... thank you.

var dir:int = 1;
var T:Timer = new Timer(1);
T.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, flap);
function flap (Event:TimerEvent):void
dragonfly_mc.wings_mc.scaleX += .05 * dir;
if ((dragonfly_mc.wings_mc.scaleX>=1&&dir>0) ||
(dragonfly_mc.wings_mc.scaleX<=.3&&dir<0))
dir*=-1;
//dragonfly_mc.wings_mc.alpha = .3;
//import flash.filters.BlurFilter.quality;
Event.updateAfterEvent();
T.start ();

var dir:int = 1;
var t:Timer = new Timer(1);
//var bf:BlurFilter = new BlurFilter
//(10, 10, BitmapFilterQuality.HIGH);
//var gf:GlowFilter = new GlowFilter
//(10, 10, BitmapFilterQuality.HIGH);

var blurX:Number = 80;
var blurY:Number = 80;
var bf:BlurFilter = new BlurFilter(blurX,blurY);
var tw:Tween = new Tween(bf,"blurX",None.easeNone,0,30,1,true);
t.addEventListener (TweenEvent.MOTION_CHANGE,f);
function f (e:Event)
bf.blurY = bf.blurX;
dragonfly_mc.wings_mc.filters = [bf];
t.addEventListener (TimerEvent.TIMER, flap);
function flap (Event:TimerEvent):void
dragonfly_mc.wings_mc.scaleX += .05 * dir;

//dragonfly_mc.wings_mc.filters = [bf, gf];
//dragonfly_mc.wings_mc.alpha = .2;
//import flash.filters.BlurFilter.quality;

    Hello!
    There is no need to flatten the file, but you can create a layer that merges all the content of the image, and apply the filter on that layer.
    Target the topmost layer, by holding the Option and . (period) keys, then create a merged copy by holding down Command Shift Option E.

  • How do I use the Index Values property node with a multidimensional array.

    I am using a 2D array to store operator inputs on my front panel.  I only want to display one element to the operator at a time.  I am trying to use the Index Values property node to change the displayed element.  However, I can only get the Rows index to work.  How do I direct the Columns index as well?  The help says to use one per dimension.  I need clarification on what this is talking about.  I've tried adding a second element to the property node, 2 seperate property nodes, and diferent wiring techniques. (series, parallel)

    If you only wire up one of the inputs (col or row) what you get out is a 1D array of either the column or row. If you wire controls to both, then you will get one element out of the array. Getting a single element in a 2D array requires you to specify both a row and column.

  • Help using the BLUR Filter in PSE7

    I want to blur the background in some of my photos so that the main subject of the photo is sharp but all background items are blurred. When I try to do this in PSE7 it gives me a message 'could not complete your request as the layer is locked'. If I am able to get past this point how do I identify the subject from the background?

    Hmmm. Blurring, as opposed to bandaging...
    I don't know if this helps any, but - along a similar line of thought - I'd managed to load in a picture of a very wide, blue sky. Not much detail there, so what could possibly go wrong. After all, I'm just experimenting. -Then I tried out the bandage tool, sort of right in the middle of the sky, with blue all around it. (Some kind of a gradient had already been applied to it some time earlier; there is a zigzag mountain range somewhere much farther down.) The bandage tool attempts to look around its periphery, and fill into the middle, based on an 'average' of the periphery. I don't think it is actually averaging, in a mathematical sense, more than making a rough guess as to what the periphery represents, and then using that number, whatever it concocted together, as a sample, and then - having arrived at a sample - deposits a lot of that kind of stuff in the middle. (Remember, the bandage tool is used for filling in a hole, if my guess is correct.)
    Is it really fixing the hole? Rather, it looks a lot more like some kind of interference pattern is being deposited on the blue sky, which can be a very pretty thing to look at, if that is what you are after. (At this point, the interference pattern can be cleaned up by switching to the blur tool; the bandage tool produces noticeable results much faster.)
    But remember, the filling process depends a lot on the size of the circle you are using. It appears that you can adjust the size of the circle from a few pixels, up to a few hundred pixels. If you choose 400 pixels, that is probably too big to be useful.) Did you look above the drawing area, and find a place that indicates the size of the paintbrush can be changed? By golly, that little box also applies to the size of the blurring tool, and the bandage tool. All of those tools are different, but you can define each one of them by going up there and adjusting the pixel size. PSE 6 keeps track of the dimensions of the size of each of the tools. (For instance, I was using a circle that was about 175 pixels wide. -Maybe that's the radius, or maybe that's the diameter, I don't know. But for fixing up very small details, you should try using a circle that is about 7 or 8 pixels wide.)
    If you switch back and forth from the bandage tool, which makes big changes, and the blur tool, which gets rid of minor smudges, you are probably going in the right direction.
    Remember, you can zoom in and out by pressing Command + or Command -, and every time you change the order of magnitude you are dealing with, you should adjust the sizes of the tools you are using.
    Like you, I am new to Photo Shop Elements 6. There is no way to learn without jumping in, and just seeing what you can do, and what happens when you switch from tool to tool.

    Do you have a computer. You can't share music or apps from one mobile device to another. To share photos you need to use photo stream shared albums.

    It would appear under the organizer tab that the photos are organised in the lowest folder in the folder structure within Windows Explorer.  How can I use the Windows Explorer structure to organise the photos within Elements.

    In a situation such as yours, I tend to consolidate items into folders so I have folders of nice workable numbers of images, somewhere between 20 and 200 images. Now, whatever, once you've imported, do your moving within LR, not the OS! I will select all in a folder and drag into a folder a level or two or three above, and then delete the newly empty subfolders. I hope this helps a bit!

  • How do I use the buffered counting mode at a fixed frequency?

    Hi-
       I'm using a PCI-6259 M-series board with the Nidaq MX
    drivers in Labview 7.  I am trying to use one counter to do
    buffered edge counting (eg. count how many pulses appear on one input
    in 400 successive time bins of 10 uS each following a digital start
    pulse).  That is, my inputs are:
         Start Pulse (from experiment)
         Count Pulse (from a photomultiplier tube in the experiment)
    And I want to know:
        # of pulses from 0 to 10 uS after the Start Pulse
        # of pulses from 11 to 20 uS after the Start
    Pulse  (or, equally good, # of pulses from 0 to 20 uS....I can
    subtract later)
        # of pulses from 3991 to 4000 uS after the Start Pulse (or, # of pulses from 0 to 4000 uS...same thing)
       The Count Digital Events-Buffered-Finite-Ext Clk.vi sample
    appears to do half of this.  I can set this up CTR0 with the Count
    pulse (and possibly add the start pulse as an Arm Start....I can't use
    a Start Trigger, right?).  However, I need to generate a Sample
    Clock Source at 100 kHz (to trigger the card to buffer the counter
    value and start counting in the next bin).  So, I tried to set up
    CTR1 along the lines of Gen Dig Pulse Train-Finite-Dig Start.vi for
    generating a finite pulse train starting on a digital trigger, and
    connecting the output from CTR1 to the Sample Clock Source on
    CTR0.  However, I get an error -50103 saying the specified
    resource is reserved if I do both at the same time.  But, I can't
    see any resource conflicts...the pulse generation on CTR1 works fine
    alone, as well as the buffered counting on CTR0, and all the PFI pins
    are different.  Is there some reason I can't use both counters at
    the same time?
    I think I can use the FREQOUT pin on the card to generate a Sample
    Clock Source at 100 kHz, since I think this is independent of CTR0
    & CTR1.  However, I can't trigger the FREQOUT to always start
    when I get a Start Pulse (as I can if I trigger a Digital Pulse Train
    to start on a digital trigger...or can I?)...so my bins will move
    randomly by up to 10 uS.
       This is an unrelated topic, but is there a discussion of
    the relationship between the terminology in the manuals describing the
    cards (SOURCE, GATE, OUTPUT terminals) and the terminology in NidaqMX
    (Source Clock/SrcClk.Source, CI.CountEdges.Term, CO.Pulse.Term)?
    Eg. is CTR0.GATE always the same thing as SrcClk.Source, or does it
    depend on the mode of operation?  If the M-series hardware manual
    says to connect something to the SOURCE input, how do I assign an
    alternate PFI pin to that SOURCE input in Labview?  Does it depend
    on the counter type, or is it always the same?

    Dave,
    Hi, you brought up several questions / issues -- let me see if I can help with some of them:
       I can set this up CTR0 with the Count pulse (and possibly add the start pulse as an Arm Start....I can't use a Start Trigger, right?).
    Yes, you could set up this way.  Also, as far as I know you're also correct that you need to configure for an "Arm Start" trigger using the DAQmx Trigger property node.  The "Arm Start" trigger is used for counter input (measurement) apps while the regular "Start Trigger" can be used for counter output (pulse generation) tasks.  I don't think I've experimented with recent versions of DAQmx though so it may have changed in 7.4 or 7.5
    ...I tried to set up CTR1 along the lines of Gen Dig Pulse Train-Finite-Dig Start.vi for generating a finite pulse train starting on a digital trigger, and connecting the output from CTR1 to the Sample Clock Source on CTR0.  However, I get an error -50103 saying the specified resource is reserved if I do both at the same time
    I highlighted the problem -- the FINITE pulse train.  DAQmx uses CTR0 as a "helper" when you generate a finite pulse train on CTR1.  It would generate a single pulse whose width corresponds to the exact amount of time needed for CTR1 to generate its specified # of pulses.
    For your specific app, I think you could generate a triggered continuous pulse train with CTR1 -- this wouldn't need to use CTR0 as a helper.  The Start Pulse would arm CTR0 at the same instant that CTR1 is started.   If you set up CTR0 to acquire on the trailing edge of CTR1's pulses, then you'll get the time bins you want.
    A final slight mod would be to setup CTR0 for measuring buffered periods (set units == "Ticks") instead of counting edges.  In that mode, you wouldn't have to do the subtraction at the end.
       This is an unrelated topic, but is there a discussion of the relationship between the terminology in the manuals describing the cards (SOURCE, GATE, OUTPUT terminals) and the terminology in NidaqMX (Source Clock/SrcClk.Source, CI.CountEdges.Term, CO.Pulse.Term)?  Eg. is CTR0.GATE always the same thing as SrcClk.Source, or does it depend on the mode of operation?
    There's an NI app note and some discussion forum hits if you search the site for "daqmx terminology."
    If the M-series hardware manual says to connect something to the SOURCE input, how do I assign an alternate PFI pin to that SOURCE input in Labview?  Does it depend on the counter type, or is it always the same?
    Usually, that choice would be available under the DAQmx Channel property node.   There'll be some place to define where the input signal is coming from, generally with "Term" or "Terminal" as part of its name.   Sorry I can't be more specific as I'm not at my LV computer now.
    Happy counting!

  • How do I USE the slices I generate in Illustrator from "Save for Web"?

    I am having trouble understanding slices. I want to save a raster graphic from Illustrator that takes advantage of "slices" to put hyperlinks to certain labels. I am working on a map with about 20 links to a website describing recreation sites shown on the map.
    I am able to do this by bringing my map as a graphic into InDesign, and setting up links to text or picture boxes there. I can export an interactive PDF of the map, and the PDF has live links.
    but the client's web host can't post the PDF with active links. (client would have to link from a static image to a copy of the PDF on a separate website). We may do this as an interim measure.
    So I'd like to go back and figure out how to use slices in Illustrator to do the same thing. I've seen web pages that have a series of sliced-up graphics; I wouldn't wish that on anyone but it's the solution I want to get to.
    Illustrator tutorials and help describe how to set up slices, how to type in links in the "slice options" dialogue box (in objects/slices... pulldown menu). And describe how to "save for web" to generate JPEGs or GIFs of the individual slices.
    My available options in AI CC 2014 (I checked in CS6 too) are to save the slices as images. (Helpful articles which say to save as HTML and Images...aren't helpful if I don't have that option).
    I get a folder called images, that contains about 74 sliced JPEGs of various sizes and shapes. I don't see, nor see an option where I can ask to make...a file that pulls all these together into a single image, with clickable links. There's no HTML file (or way to create one that I can see).
    What am I missing? What application would I use to toss this folder's contents together. Or how would I create the HTML or envelope file within Illustrator?
    I have entered URLs for links in three or four different places but haven't found a way to export them in such a way that they are actually useful.
    Thanks for your help.
    Ben PEase

    Thanks, I am a print guy, mostly. I've almost figured out CSS for my did-it-myself website, so buttons, actions, slices, etc. are new angles for me.  I am hip to the general concept that Adobe likes certain applications to do certain things. It was certainly easier to set up links from InDesign.
    In what application would you suggest I DO foolishly create my interactions (raster graphic with multiple links? Does it work any better in Photoshop?  The client's web host does the web design (some sort of template thing)  so I don't believe I have the option of drawing hot-spots like is (was?) possible in Dreamweaver.
    (That may be a question for the web host).
    One of the problems with "discontinuing this functionality" is there are about half a dozen how-to guides online that suggest it is still possible to kluge a solution in AI (sometimes in older versions) and it's hard to tell well-executed funtionality from abandoned functionality since Adobe hides instructions in multiple, random dialogue boxes, and left so many of the pieces strewn about the current versions of AI.... How would we really know?  But I am not all that surprised they did.

  • I'm running Pages version 5.2 on a Desktop Mac version 10.9.2. with the Pages app open how do I use the Time Machine to go back five hours to see the work?

    I'm running Pages version 5.2 on a Desktop Mac version 10.9.2. With the Pages app open how do I use the Time Machine to go back five hours to see my page? Can I access Time Machine within an app like Pages? How do I enter Time Machine within the application? It always takes me to the Finder. I apolgise for the mumbo jumbo. I simply do not know how to use Time Machine. It makes sense when I follow the Tutorial but then I lose it.

    OK. You've kind of skipped over the reason why you want to go back five hours, but my assumption would be that you've made changes to a Pages file that you want to revert.
    There are two ways to tackle this. From Pages itself, open the current version of your document, and from the File menu, click Revert To, and Browse All Versions. You'll then be in the Time Machine interface for that file, and can browse back to the version you want.
    Or, outside of Pages, you can select the file (or the folder it was originally in, if you've since deleted it) and enter Time Machine from the TM menu (it sounds like you've already tried this?)
    best
