HowTo (insert data into a data table by columns)

Hello.
Hello I need insert data in a data table component, but i need insert column by column, the number of columns its static per exemple 3 colums, but the numbers of rows its dynamic. If my data is a vector of Integers like [1,2,3,4,5,6,7] The component have to display the data like that:
1 2 3
4 5 6
7
And in the cells have to have a checkbox componet to check de data to submit.
Any ideas, could be posible with de data table component or another component ??
Thanks in advance.

I would sugggest you to check this item on winston's blog:
http://blogs.sun.com/roller/page/winston?entry=displaying_two_dimensional_data
It does the same thing as you're looking for, in a slightly different way.
For checkbox columns in the table, this could be a useful reference :

Let us know, if this resolves your case.

  • How to insert data in a column with uniqueidefier data type

    Guys,
    I need insert data in a column with uniqueidefier data type, when i am trying to that getting error.
    error message says: "Conversion failed when converting from a character string to uniqueidentifier."
    I have data in table a col1,col2,col3,col4 - col3,col4 has datatype as varchar and i am updating table b columns col1,col2 with table a col3 and col4.
    Please guide how to do it.

    Hi,
    Not any String can be convert to uniqueidentifier.
    1. you have to make sure u use a value which is fir to be uniqueidentifier
    2. Use convert or cast in the insert query in order to convert the string into uniqueidentifier
    insert X ... convert(uniqueidentifier, 'string which fit to be convert to uniqueidentifier')
    Please post DDL+DML for more specific help
    DDL = Data Definition Language. In our case that is, CREATE TABLE statements for your tables and other definitions that are needed to understand your tables structure and there for let us to test and reproduce the problem in our server. Without DDL no one
    can execute any query.
    How to get DDL: Right click on the table in Object Explorer and select script table as CREATE. Post these create table scripts here.
    DML = data manipulation language is a family of queries used for manipulating the data it self like: inserting, deleting and updating data. In our case we need some sample data in order to check the query and get result, so we need some indert query for
    sample data.
    If you post a "create query" for the tables and "insert query" with some sample, then we could help you without Assuming/Guessing. There is a reason that DDL is generally asked for and expected when discussing query problems - it helps
    to identify issues, clarify terminology and prevent incorrect assumptions.  Sample data also provides a common point of reference for the discussion. A script that can be used to illustrate or reproduce the issue you have, will encourage others to help.

  • Inserting/modifying into custom Z table

    Hi Gurus,
    I am trying to extract a set of data from cdhdr and cdpos into a custom table.
    Basically, what I did is the transform/aggregate data from cdpos and cdhdr is stored in an internal tables and later the data is inserted into a custom table. The purpose of doing so is to enable fast retrieval of records when the user view the report.
    The program works fine in Development and QAS box. Records were inserted. But in Production, no record was inserted.
    Any idea on why this happen? Is is due to the size of the records fetched into internal table? Something to do with buffers and memory?

    Oh.. it is because of the lots of the data and you are trying to manipulate and insert the data in Z table.
    So, try to schedule the job in the Background.
    Like: Run the report .. on the selection screen press F9 to execute the program in background. This will schedule a job in SM37. The TIME_OUT problem doesn't occur in the background job.

  • Cannot INSERT records into Partitioned Spatial Table and Index

    I am trying to tune our Spatial Storage by creating partitioning our spatial_entity table and index. I used the World Geographic Reference System (GEOREF) creating a partition for each 15 x 15 degree grid square assigning a partition key of decimal longitude, decimal_latitude. The build went OK, however when trying to insert a data record I receive an ORA-14400: Inserted partition key does not map to any partition.
    I validated the CREATE(s), and all appears correct, but obviously something is not correct, which is prompting for expert help in this forum.

    Dave

    Thank you for your quick reply. I did not post the entire CREATE script as it is quite long. The portion of the script that is applicable to the INSERT is:
    ,PARTITION p_lt_45e_90s
              VALUES LESS THAN (23, -90)
         ,PARTITION p_lt_45e_75s
              VALUES LESS THAN (23, -75)
         ,PARTITION p_lt_45e_60s
              VALUES LESS THAN (23, -60)
         ,PARTITION p_lt_45e_45s
              VALUES LESS THAN (23, -45)
         ,PARTITION p_lt_45e_30s
              VALUES LESS THAN (23, -30)
         ,PARTITION p_lt_45e_15s
              VALUES LESS THAN (23, -15)
         ,PARTITION p_lt_45e_0
              VALUES LESS THAN (23, 0)
         ,PARTITION p_lt_45e_15n
              VALUES LESS THAN (23, 15)
         ,PARTITION p_lt_45e_30n
              VALUES LESS THAN (23, 30)
         ,PARTITION p_lt_45e_45n
              VALUES LESS THAN (23, 45)
         ,PARTITION p_lt_45e_60n
              VALUES LESS THAN (23, 60)
         ,PARTITION p_lt_45e_75n
              VALUES LESS THAN (23, 75)
         ,PARTITION p_lt_45e_90n
              VALUES LESS THAN (23, maxvalue)
    Or, I do not fully understand. Are you indicating that I must explcitly state the longitude in each clause,
    e.g ,PARTITION p_lt_45e_45n
              VALUES LESS THAN (45, 45)
    ,PARTITION p_lt_45w_45n
              VALUES LESS THAN (-45, 45)
    If so, that answers the question of why it cannot find a partition, however an Oracle White Paper "Oracle Spatial Partitioning Best Practices" Sept 2004, discusses multi column partitioning such as represented by this problem, and gives an INSERT statement example of :
    CREATE TABLE multi_partn_table (in_date DATE,
    geom SDO_GEOMETRY, x_value NUMBER, y_value NUMBER)
    PARTITION BY RANGE (X_VALUE,Y_VALUE)
    PARTITION P_LT_90W_45S VALUES LESS THAN (1,-45),
    PARTITION P_LT_90W_0 VALUES LESS THAN (1,0),
    PARTITION P_LT_90W_45N VALUES LESS THAN (1,45),
    PARTITION P_LT_90W_90N VALUES LESS THAN (1,MAXVALUE
    and as I am writing this I am seeing that I failed to include the longitude and latitude in the SDO_GEOMETRY clause, so it does appear tht I need to explicitly state the longitude valuues.
    What is your judgement sir?

    Any help would be greatly appreciated
    thanks!

    firstly, if you have multiple rows.. you need to start each row with <tr> and end with a </tr>. You just have one in the beginning and end,which will obivously give data in one row.
    out.println("<tr>");
    for (int a = 0 ; a < log.length; a++) {
    for (int b = 0 ; b < 4; b++){
    out.println("<td>" + (log[a]) +"</td>");
    a++;
    out.println("<td>" + (log[a]) +"</td>");
    a++;
    out.println("<td>" + (log[a]) +"</td>");
    a++;
    out.println("<td>" + (log[a]) +"</td>");
    a++;
    b++;
    out.println("</tr>");

  • Spry select list code to wire it to html data table SET column?

    I am making a page based on Figure 15-14, Pg 878, in David Power's book, "Dw CS4 with CSS, Ajax and PHP. I have two separate html data tables hidden in the page, one for the specialties drop down select list and the other for the teachers master/detail regions. These are populated with php and working well. The spry select list and master/detail regions are working great except for one issue. The column in my html data table that is being filtered ("Specialty" in my code = 'Category' in the book's example code) is a SET column (with possible value of 1, 2, 3, 4, and/or 5). Clicking on the drop down menu brings up the records with a single value beautifully. The result for records with multiple values is a spry error "Invalid row number: 0". After four different versionings and methods of messing with this, I still haven't a clue. Please help me with how to rewire the Spry select list code so that it will read the records that have multiple items in that column. I have included the code below.
    var data_set_teachers = new Spry.Data.HTMLDataSet(null, "teacher_data");
    data_set_teachers.gallery = '1';
    function chooseSet(dataSet, row, rowNumber)
    if (row["Specialty"] == data_set_teachers.gallery) {
       return row;
    return null;
    data_set_teachers.filter(chooseSet);
    function changeSet(set)
    data_set_teachers.gallery = set;
    data_set_teachers.filter(chooseSet);
    data_set_teachers.setCurrentRowNumber(0);
    var rows = data_set_teachers.getData();
    for (var i = 0; i < rows.length; i++) {
       if (rows[i]["Specialty"] == set) {
         data_set_teachers.setCurrentRowNumber(i);
         break;
    var data_set_specialties = new Spry.Data.HTMLDataSet(null, "specialty_data");

    Well I'll be damned!
    What's done in the sample app is, of course, the intuitively obvious choice and is exactly what I started out trying to do the first time round.
    But as I mentioned before, when I first tried it (yes: I'm pretty sure I set the "for" attribute on the inlineMessage components), I got the non-unique component id exception for the inlineMessage component(s) after adding the second (but not the first) row to the page.
    Anyway, after dragging my inlineMessages to the exact same position as those in the AppModel example, now things work fine (except I think I'd like a line break before the message and to change the row/column styles so the values and messages line up properly...the look is rather ugly in the AppModel example when there are validation messages displayed).
    Not sure, but I'm thinking maybe there was an issue with where the inline message markup was placed, my first time through, relative to the data table value bound component and the column header facet?
    I was using the application view drag 'n drop feature the first time round and dragged the inlineMessage component to the spot just below the data table value bound component and hence just above the column header facet. In the AppModel example, OTOH, the inline messages are placed just after the column header facet.
    Of course, I will now try to duplicate the original exception.
    If I can (and it is an issue with placement), I will post back some sort of bug report or RFE. Otherwise, I'll post back declaring what a bone head I've been...;-)
    Anyway, thanks for the quick response, v.

  • Insert records into non base table

    Hi
    I would like to insert records into a table when a button is clicked. The table is a non base table. I am trying to save records displayed in a form into a history table which is not part of the form. I am using the following code stored in a program unit then called when the button is pressed. It doesn't generate any error but the records are not inserted. Can anyone please help.
    hist_id := 1;
    cust_name := :CUSTOMER.cust_name;
    loan_date := :LOAN.loan_date;
    return_date := LOAN.return_date;
    FORMS_DDL('INSERT INTO LOAN_HISTORY VALUES'||hist_id||','||cust_name||','||loan_date||','||return_date);

    Why do you need forms_ddl built in for a DML statement to be used in form?
    U can directly use insert.
    hist_id := 1;
    cust_name := :CUSTOMER.cust_name;
    loan_date := :LOAN.loan_date;
    return_date := LOAN.return_date;
    INSERT INTO LOAN_HISTORY VALUES (hist_id,cust_name,loan_date,return_date);
    It should work perfectly.

    else

    /An autonomous transaction would probably be the last thing you'd want here. Just a simple plsql procedure that accepts a INVOICE_ID as an input.

    Using the new 4.1 functionality I have created a data load wizard.
    Everything seems to have created OK however when i run the wizard and get to the Data / Table Mapping stage (2nd page) the column names lov contains no list of values.
    The table i am trying to load in is in another schema but all the grants are there so that schema can view it.
    Any idea what I need to do or what I have missed so the columns can be viewed.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    You have to log in as admin and there should be an option to add schemas, once adding it should appear in the lov.
    This link should help.

    There is no any error displaying while proceeding this query but the table a1 which is (Global temporary table with ON COMMIT PRESERVE ROWS option enabled) does not gets any records. Kindly let me know the problem.
    Regards.
