HP Laserjet 6p printer stopped printing pdf files.

Using Windows xp pro and recently updated driver to postscript driver from HP web site (file name lj632en.exe)
Have had problems printing large pdf files. Printer would take long time to start printing (maybe 10 mins) or fail to print error. This printer does not have the post script memory board installed.
Printer was setup on parallel port now it's wireless printer server connected.

The product you have seems to be a commercial printer. For the best chance at finding a solution I would suggest posting in the forum for HP Business Support!
You may find the Commercial Laserjet board here.

  • HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw Color Multifunction Won't Print PDF Files

I recently encountered a problem where my HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw Color Multifunction would not print PDF files.  I tried printing from Preview, Adobe Reader, Word and PDF Pen Pro and the document would not print.  But the printer had no problem printing other formats such as JPG, DOCX etc. from the same computer both before and after.
What happened is that the computer indicated it sent the document to the printer and the printer screen showed "Printing Document" momentarily - but then the the printer screen would return to the Ready screen and the document would not print.  There were not indications that the printer was having a problem.
I reinstalled the HP drivers - no change.
Finally I was able to print the document by opening in Photoshop and saving it as a JPG.
I am running OSX 10.9.2.  on a MacBook Pro.

    Hi 5teve,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I understand you are unable to print PDF documents.
I will be happy to help you.
Check the driver name. If it shows HP Laserjet CM1415 - Airprint it would be the Apple driver.
Delete it and add the new driver in for just the HP Laserjet CM1415. You might have to click on the drop down to select it from the list.
Here is a screen shot for a example. Different printer showing though.
Please let me know the results.
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.

My Mac is very slow printing pdf files on my hp laserjet p2055dn.  I have noticed fixes for this problem for people using Windows.  Is there a Mac solution?

Do you want to create PDF files using Java? If so, there is a library available at http://www.lowagie.com/iText/docs.html Check out this site. There are many more similar PDFGEnerator tools that you can use..

  • HP Laserjet P2055dn won't print pdf files

I have just hooked up a new iMac with Mac OS 10.9.5 and now my reliable HP Laserjet P2055dn won't print .pdf files anymore--it just hangs for hours. I am an academic and work 50% with pdf's.  I tried to download a new driver from the HP site for all MAC OS systems 10.7 and up, but the message when the download was finished opened up in a little box that reads: "ljp2055_Firmware_Upd Image not recognised."
I've unplugged, plugged back in, turned off, turned back on countless times. Don't know what else to try?
    Thank you.

  • My Wireless HP ENVY 4500 All-In-One Printer Has Stopped Printing PDF Files

I installed the subject wirelessly printer about 1 years ago. It works quite well with my iMac OS X10.9.1 desktop and my Win7 laptop PC. But, it recently stopped printing PDF files for no apparent reason, and I get no error messages.
It won't print PDFs from my browsers nor from Adobe Reader (11.0.07) ... but all other document file types print OK from my browsers and Reader.
The only thing that comes close to printing PDFs is that sometimes, when I try to print a PDF page or file from within Adobe Reader, it prints - on a single sheet - 6 tiny duplicate sections of what appears to be the upper right-hand quadrant only of the original PDF document.
Please note that I un-installed and re-installed the printer and its driver twice without success. Also, no amount of printer re-configuring of layout, size, etc. made a difference. I received some previous work-around advice about converting the PDFs to a Word document, and printing that. But this is just not convenient; and besides, the printer is suppose to print PDFs (PDF is my document of choice for basically all my collaborative work). I should also state that I received no help with this problem from the HP ENVY user group forum; so, I guess that means you may be my last resort. And finally, I don't know if this is relevant or not, but I upgraded my iMac from Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) to Mavericks (OS X 10.9) a few months ago - this upgrade was frought with all sorts of teething problems! - and I am now somewhat suspicious that something in the upgrade might have something to do with my current PDF problem.
Could someone please advise me on any Adobe Reader and/or printer re-configs, re-sets or other actions I should try?
    Thanks

Correction to initial post: The 6 tiny sections incorrectly printed on a single sheet are actually from the bottom right-hand quadrant of the original PDF page - NOT the upper right-hand quadrant.

  • MacBook won't print PDF files, it states The process "pstopdffilter" stopped unexpectedly with status 1

Question: MacBooK won't print PDF files, after selecting print it states; The process "pstopdffilter" stopped unexpectedly with status 1. I am currently using a HP Deskjet 4400 series printer and it works fine with all our other lap top computers. Thanks for any help.

The pictwpstops filter on OS X machines, converts the job to straight Postscript before the normal CUPS filters get it.
If the Adobe APPs have a choice of what kind of PS to send, like Binary or ASCII, try toggling that setting to the opposite of what it is.
Though, if a reboot fixed it then likely the problem was a remporary bit flip, which may or may not happen again.

  • Cannot print PDF files on shared Laserjet Pro P1102w over network.

Having an issue with a P1102w not printing PDF files when sent to it over the network. Printer is shared on a networked PC via USB (wireless enabled but not used) and listed in the Active Directory so anyone can find it and print, However, if any computer other than the host tries to send a PDF document then the printer ejects a blank page and the warning light flashes, Word documents, Powerpoint presentations print fine just not PDFs? Tried changing the print processor, printing directly, resinstalling drivers but still no luck.
Network is a small server with 2008 standard 32bit connected to a HP 24 port procurve switch. Anyone come across this problem before?

    Hi,
    Are you using Adobe Reader?
From the Print dialog, click the Advanced Button.
Check the Print as image option, confirm the changes and try printing.
    Can you see any change?

  • Unable to print PDF files to HP Colour Laser Printer

    Hi Guys,
I am having a problem with printing PDF files to a network printer. The printer was purchased recently and is a HP Colour LaserJet CP3525n all in one, printer/photocopier etc. Other documents such as Word documents work, so I don't think its a straight forward issue...
I can print PDF file to other printers, so I know the PDF files themselves are not at fault.
When I try and print to that printer, I just get pages and pages of funny characters coming up on the page... It doesn't matter what sort of PDF file I print either...
Are there any settings I can change that may help me resolve the issue. The printer is networked and shared amongst 4 people.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Printing PDF files with smb/cups not possible // SLPReg status -20!

    Hello *,
i am running SAMBA 3.6.1-1 and CUPS 1.5.0-1 on a dedicated system. Printer: Canon Pixma IP4500 (USB).
The problem is that all Windows 7 clients are not able to print PDF files (since few months) on that printer while printing these files with Linux software is no problem. The PDF files are neither encrypted nor forbidden to print.
I tried to print with Adobe Acrobat Reader X (latest) and Foxit Reader. Both are preparing the pages to be printed and close their printing dialog after processing. Windows printing queue does not show any jobs (which it even does not when printing simple images with MS Paint, which is not a problem).
Windows systems are using the Canon Inkjet 4500 and Canon iP 4500 driver (manually installed). Printing images works with both drivers.
I searched for "SLPReg […] failed with status -20!" but found no helpful information.

  • Cannot print pdf files with Adobe reader 9.3

I upgraded from Adobe 7 to 9.3 and now I can not print pdf files.  I am able to print word and any other type of file but not pdf.  The printer will pull paper into it like it is going to print but stops and nothing else happens.  I have an HP C3100 printer.I also tried to do what the support web site said to do but no luck.  I also tried to do a system restore but it would not do it.  Does anyone have a idea to help fix this?

Post your problem in the forum for Adobe Reader.

  • Lasrjet 800n not print pdf files

I have a laserjet 8000n and have installed windows XP 64.  Since installation I have not been able to print PDF files.  Printer says processing but nothing prints and printer goes to ready.  Job is gone in printer q with no errors that I see.   I can print other info for example from word or excell.

There are 2 things that I would try.
First, make sure your print driver is up to date. You can get drivers here:
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=14940&pr...
Second, try some other free PDF readers to make sure it is not something to do with Foxit. Try some of these: Adobe Reader, Cool PDF Reader or Nuance PDF Reader. I am not recommending any of these in particular, they seem to be popular PDF reader choices that I have seen used.

  • My mac pro won't print pdf files

My macbook pro will not print PDF files - I had to change some settings previously and it worked for a while but just stopped again recently.  I can't remember what settings I changed before to make it work.  Can anyone help me?

    I found it.....
    1.  Click on any PDF file in the Finder to select it
    2.  Go to the “File” menu and select “Get Info.” You also have the option of pressing the “Control” key on the keyboard while clicking on the file and selecting “Get Info” from the contextual menu.
    3.  Adjust the “Open with” menu to “Preview.” Press “Change All” to set all PDFs to open with Preview.
Thanks to everyone who tried to help me!

  • Envy 4500 won't print pdf files

My new printer HPEnvy 4500 works fine and I'm really pleased with it, except that I cannot print pdf files.
I'm running Windows Vista and have Adobe 11 so have run a repair on Adobe to see if that helps- no joy. Even if I try onepage at a time it might start after a fewminutes but thenonly prints about a quarterof thepage and then stops. It also seems to feeze my entire computer - none of theprograms respond well whilst the document is in the print queue. There are no error messages. I did not have problems with my old Photosmart C5180 printing off the same documents from the same computer (now thrown out)
Please, please can anyone help as these are important documents that I need to print off.
    Thank you

OK, so I managed to fix this myself! The problem seems to be with Adobe Reader. I had upgraded from V9 to the latest version and there appears to be a whole lot of problems with thel atest version. I tried downgrading to V10 but the problem still occurred (even turning off the enhanced saftey mode as suggested by Adobe). Sine V9 is no longer available for download I was stuck in a vicious circle. In the end I gave up on Adobe altogether and uninstalled it completley. I have now downloaded Nitro pdf (free) and everything is working as it should. Finally able to print pdf documents!

  • Printing PDF Files takes forever

I'm new to the mac world, but love it. It takes forever to print pdf files on my iMac. I'm using an HP3050 Laserjet, plugged directly into the iMac. Never had this problem with the printer connected to my Vista Laptop.
I started to print a 2 page pdf 9 minutes ago and still have not gotten a pageout of the printer. PDF File is only 132 KB.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

It was happening with preview and adobe pdf viewer. I tried an experiment, unplugged the usb cable and re-set the printer to its defaults.
That solved part of the problem. It now prints pdf's quickly, but any document, word, pdf etc that I try to print, the printer now beeps and prompts for a manual feed, press enter for confirmation. After pressing the enter button on the printer whatever file I'm trying to print comes out.
Okay, the printer thinks that you're feeding paper from the manual feed slot, not from the paper tray. When you select 'Print', the printer dialog box should come up. There are two basic styles for the printer dialog box:
1 basic, which has seven items in it: the printer ID pull-down menu, which allows you to select printers if you have more than one printer; in my case, I'd have Brother HL-2070N, Brother MFC-440CN, Adobe PDF 8.0, and a few other items on the list. It would also show the printer presets pull-down, the four print system buttons (PDF, Preview, Cancel and Print) and the dialog control triangle.
2 complete, which can be access from the basic dialog by clicking on the dialog control triangle. This will zoom out the dialog box to include the full array of options available for that printer. What options show depend on which printer you have, but one of them will be a pull-down menu which usually has the name of the app you're trying to print from. One of the items on that menu will be 'Print Feed' or something similar. Select that item. The dialog will zoom out and show you the various print feed options. It is probable that there will be a checkmark next to 'manual feed' or something similar. Select 'automatic' or 'tray #1' or similar. Print normally.
Once you have printed something with the correct settings the print system will remember the settings you want and will keep them until you change them. Just remember that if you change them, the system will remember the new settings until you change them back.
Plus, printing #10 envelopes no longer works correctly, the address information only partially prints and is un-readable.
That's almost certainly because it things that it's printing letter-size paper from the manual tray. One of the settings under 'Print Settings' or similar should allow you to select the size and type of paper; if you select #10 envelope, it will adjust accordingly. Note that unless you specify otherwise, if you select #10 envelope the system will usually automatically select the manual feed for you. It will go back to whatever feed setting had been made before printing envelopes once you select a different type of paper. (At least that's how it's worked in every printer I've used for quite some time now.)
I'm going to plug the printer back into my Vista Laptop and see if it goes back to normal.
It's not hardware-related, it's driver-related, so you should be able to print from Vista without a problem.
If you do have a problem, let us know 'cause then the problem is not a driver problem. And if it's not a driver problem you may yet get to buy a new printer, 'cause fixing printer hardware is usually more expensive than just tossing the printer and replacing it. I would charge you at least $50/hour plus parts to fix this kind of thing. You can get a new printer for under $100. You make the call.
Is there any kind of "terminal" command I can use to re-set how the Mac is dealing with the printer?
if you really want to see the guts of the print system, you can go to the CUPS pages on your system, but you really don't want to do that unless you absolutely have no choice. The CUPS pages, the Common UNIX Printing System pages, on your system are available if you launch your web browser (any web browser) and go to <http://127.0.0.1:631/printers>. There's a whole lot of info in there, but playing inside there is not for the faint of heart.
