HP Pavilion DV6 3122TX recovery partition deleted, need to install windows

Hi,
I have a Pavilion DV6 3122TX notebook. The system would hang profusely when ever I was accessing any file, no it was not a virus or anything, I found out it was the HD due to error screen at startup "Hard Disk Error, Hard Disk 1(3F1)", I ran all self checks and diagnostics but nothing improved. So I formatted the drive completely deleted all partitions even the internal recoveries and others (my bad).
My recovery disc cannot be read by the laptop, the DVDRom LED blinks for a few seconds then nothing happens, "It says invalid system disk. Replace the disk, and then pres any key blah blah blah ..." The disc is fine I have checked. I changed the boot options to boot from internal CD/DVD.
I need a working windows as a temporary solution as quickly as possible. I cannot install Windows 7 apparently this is due to some lock (turns out it was unable to detect the HDD). Windows XP cannot see the drive due to AHCI driver requirement (can't switch back to IDE) due to BIOS lock. So I tried the AHCI driver slipstream method, now here's my problem I can't find the proper AHCI drivers for my laptop since I cannot login to Win to check with CPUz. Can someone direct me to the right text-mode drivers for this laptop to slipstream into winxp x86 using NliteOS. I'll take the laptop to be fixed to a service centre next month but now I need a solution. Even if you can fix my recovery solution it would be great.
I can access the hard drive using Linux. So the HDD is ok, please do not refer me to change the HDD that is not an option right now. (HDD was the problem)

U410 recovery partition reformatted, need help reinstalling Windows 8

Hi,
I have a Lenovo U410 with a 32GB SSD and a 750GB HDD that are treated as one drive. The previous owner reformatted the entire drive, which erased the recovery partition. Thus, I can'tmake a recovery disc or USB stick (the recovery partition would have to be intact for that to work anyway) and can't reinstall Windows 8.
Can anyone confirm that the recovery media I'd order from Lenovo support would be able to reinstall Windows 8? I'm afraid that they would send me a disc that needs the recovery partition to work.

You can give them (Lenovo support) a call and ask about it.
I did, they didn't know if it would work.

You may have to ask for the whole set, borrowing just ONE may not work because the environment could be difference after you logon to the machine for the first time.

I understand the webcam isn't working since upgrading to Windows 8.1. I would have to suggest returning to Windows 8 since there are no 8.1 drivers, as indicated here: HP Pavilion dv6-7043cl Entertainment Notebook PC Drivers

How can I increase the size of the bootcamp partition without having to delete or re-install windows? using a macbook pro (15-inch) 10.9.4.

I'm using a macbook pro (late 2013 with mavericks-10.9.4 ). I installed windows using bootcamp but didn't estimate the storage I required correctly. So now I don't have enough storage in the bootcamp hard drive.
How can I increase the Partition size between windows and mac without having to delete or re-install windows?

Your computer comes with Win 8 pre-installed but one of the steps to install/run Windows 8.1 is having updated drivers for Windows 8.1
Please, go to Control Panel -> System (or Start -> type winver and open) and verify what is your current version - if it is Windows 8 or 8.1
Windows 8 is version 6.2.x
Windows 8.1 is version 6.3.x
If Windows 8 in place, then , please read this article and enroll in the steps:

Need to install Windows on my macbookpro

Hi. I need to install Windows on my mac to use programs my boss wants me to use that are only compatible w/Windows v6 or v7. I have done a bit of reasearch and wonder if someone who knows, might be able to tell me if I'm understanding the proceedure right before I try doing this.

3. I will need my IOS disk to install drivers on new partition?
4. Here's the big quesion...If I have my Snow Leopard disks, do I use those? My mac is already passed SL an I've got Lion 10.7.4. Will this screw things up; having 2 different ones or will the SL only go on the new partition and then automatically upgrade to Lion? I'm ver fuzzy on this part.
5. Is that it? Am I done?

Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
1. Install the Apple Boot Camp software. Purchase Windows XP w/Service Pak2, Vista, or Windows 7. For Boot Camp 4.0 and above you can only use Windows 7 or later. Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows. Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
    2. Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7. Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
    3. VM Fusion and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7. VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
    4. CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows. The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
    5. VirtualBox is an Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris. It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that VirtualBox, Parallels, and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc. There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization. The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard or Snow Leopard. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.
You will need Windows 7. You cannot install Lion, Snow Leopard, and Windows using Boot Camp on a single volume.

I am going to buy either a Mac Air or Mac Pro Retina 8GB RAM and 256GB. And as I have to still run Windows I will install Parallels 9. As the Mac are both 64bit machines does that mean I need to install Windows 7 64bit ? And office pro 2013 64 bit too?

I going to buy 13" MacbookPro with Retina Display with 2.6ghz i5 dual core processor and 8GB RAM.
I need to install Window 8.1 Pro and mutiple(a lot) of educational software inside Window OS.
128GB or 256GB PCle-based flash storage should I choose to make sure enough capacity and smooth performance to me?

to see if Windows can play well with the Retina display.
If those wise people say it does not, consider the entry level non-Retina 13-inch MBP. It comes with a 500GB conventional hard drive with the option of a 1TB drive, still has a DVD drive, and you can upgrade RAM yourself--it's a ten-minute job. Another plus is that model seems to have very few reports of mechanical trouble in these forums.
However, if all you want to run is Win, I cast my vote with Esquared: consider a Windows laptop. You can get a 17-ich i7 for much less than any Mac notebook.

I need to install windows on my mac

I'm an architect and have found myself needing to use Revit at home, obviously to do this I need to install windows on my mac. After doing some research I've decided to use Parallels to run Windows. My plan is to buy an external hard drive, install Parallels on my Mac and then run Windows as a Parallels Virtual Machine from the external hard drive. I know this sounds complicated but I think it will work as long as a get a good external hard drive. has anyone ever tried running windows like this? any advice on a good external hard drive? all helpful comments welcome!

I have tried it before with USB 2.0 external hard drive. In case you are going to use USB external hard drive then I think the performance will be better if you put the Windows on the local hard drive instead of external since the early 2011 MBP USB port is not 3.0 yet.

If your system is Core2Duo or better, use 64-bit. 32-bit only sees 3.5 GB RAM max. 64-bit Home sees 16 GB RAM max, and 64-bit Pro sees 192 GB RAM max.
