HP4599 not showing up on my wireless network

Hi
Have had a HP4599 for a couple of years now and has always worked fine ... ish!
Got a new work laptop so needed to set it up to work with my HP, yet when went through the HP setup (downloaded the latest software as working with  Windows 7) printer was not found wirelessly. Added USB cable and set up then came up with error #201VSA.
Run wireless network test report which says 'network name SSID not matching'. Have tried resetting the HP to default. Have tried changing the SSID name on the router - but still no luck. All my other wireless devices, lap top, iphone etc all pick up the wireless OK.
When print network config page it shows disconnected. Have run tools on HP help and the printer does not show on their HP network diagnostic utility.
Anyone got a solution that works?
How can i get the pinter to be found, it appears to have now ip address.
Help!

To print doc - this is the diagnotic info from the HP's home network diagnostic utility, which might help.

  • Airport Express stopped showing up on the wireless network

Airport Express stopped showing up on the wireless network, and now I can't stream music from my iMac or iPhone through the AE as I used to. I now have a new adsl modem, but it doesn't help. The AE has a wireless connection to the modem. I've used Airport Utility to setup the AE again, no help. I also updated to Maverick but it didn't help. Any ideas?

By "I can't reset it" do you mean you tried both the "hard" and "factory default" resets on your AirPort Express Base Station (AX) and still were not able to see it from iTunes? ...and if so, were you able to connect to it directly, using an Ethernet cable, to configure it using the AirPort Admin Utility?

  • Xbox 360 does not connect to Airport Express wireless network

I'm at my wits ends. I got a my son a wireless adapter for Christmas and for the life of me cannot get it to work. We have looked at all the discussion forums on the internet and did A LOT of trial and error and still to connection. On one occasion the xbox 360 wireless adapter saw the network and once it tried to connect is dropped.
I have a Wii, two windows PC's, a printer and a PowerMac all connected to my wireless router. The xbox and the Airport Express both have the latest firm ware update.
These are some of the things I have noticed and tested:
    1. Connection is Cable Modem>Vonage Router>Airport Express....wireless to Xbox360
    2. I have taken the vonage router out to go
Cable Modem>Airport Express...wireless to Xbox360 and still no luck.
    3. I was suspecting a double NAT and contacted Comcast to see if I could put the cable modem in bridge mode and they couldn't help me.
    4. The network is open (no security)
    5. The wireless adapter is a steady red...then when I tell it to find the network it drops out (LED turns off)
    6. I have tried to see if I have a double NAT but tracing in the network utility does not show anything.
    7. I have tried to place the Airport express in bridge mode and when I updated, it doesn't not come back up and I have to do a hard reset to communicate to it again.
    8. There was one instance when the wireless adapter LED was green for about 15 secs and when we tried to connect it dropped out completely (no LED light).
    9. I know it works because in the various forums I have read that people have it working.
I called xbox support and they were not very helpful...wouldn't even search similar cases...I have tried everything I could think of and I'm lost any assistance is appreciated.

    Tesserax,
What is the make/model of the Comcast-provided modem? How about the Vonage router? Is this router also wireless? Finally, I assume that prior to introducing the AirPort Express Base Station (AX), the modem & Vonage router were working properly ... correct?
Thanks for your interest in helping me. To answer your questions:
    1. The comcast make and model for the cable modem is Scientific American Model#DPX2203
    2. The vonage router is ethernet hard wired connected between the cable modem and the apple express wireless route. The vonage router is model#VDV21-VD
    3. With the exception of the wireless connection between the Xbox 360 and AX; everything works fine.
    4. The AX is running Apple firm ware 6.3
In the discussion I have read of similar problems and have tried them all to no avail. I'm sure the is a fix to this problem because of people in the discussion groups have had the same issues. I don't suspect the wireless router because it has a steady red light and only turns off when we do the network test or scan for networks.

  • IPhone not connecting to WEP 128 Wireless network after 1.0.2 upgrade

    Hello all,
I have the iphone since the last week. I was pretty happy with it until I upgraded the iphone to version 1.0.2.
From that very moment, the WEP Hex/ASCII Key option dissapeared when setting a connection to a wireless network. Mine was working with 1.0.0 and now it does not work.
I am Telecom engineer, and I pretty sure everything is correct. Mi 128 wep key is 13 characters long and (of course) 26 HEX long.
I have tried putting " before and after the ASCII key and also entering a $ sign before the HEX key.
I have also disabled the Auto caps, just in case.
After all this testing and a quick look at google, it seems that there are more people with the same problem.
Could anyone say to me if there is any other way? Or if apple is gonna release a new version with this issue fixed?
    I am quite dissapointed.
BTW: I have tried all the stuff of reseting the router and "forget setting", etc.
BTW2: To switch to WPA may be an option in my network by it is no way a solution as the majority of the public AP use WEP....

I am using a Linksys BEFW11S4 and I've tried to make the WEP key work on and off for the last 2 months while tapping into other people's wifi to get by without it.
Previously, when I chose someone else's secured network from the 'available networks' list, it would open a window and ask for password. But if I selected my own secured network it wouldn't and would just say "unable to join XYZ network".
Here is what I did tonight and I'm not sure which step did the trick, but it's worth a try:
1 - On the router, I went into the Password tab and entered a password. Previously I hadn't been using any.
2 - On the iPhone, I clicked on the little arrow next to my network's name. In the following screen entered the DNS address of my router (on Linksys the address is found on the Status tab).
I now have it connected to my network. I disconnected and reconnected again without having to enter the password, so either it's saving the password someplace or it's the DNS address that did the trick. The iPhone MAC Address shows up in the DHCP Active IP Table of the router and the router is still WEP protected.
I hope this wasn't too confusing. If you reply, please tell me how you feel about the $200 price drop today!

  • Win8 can not find and connect the wireless network which created in win7

I am a fan of DOTA, sometimes i play it with my roommate. But after i installed win8, my roommate and i can not connect to each other. He used win7 to set up a wireless network, but i could not find the network. And i used win8 to set up a
wireless network.Althrought it prompted create successfully, i could not find it in my laptop. So who can explain it to me? I really think using the networkd on right side instead of the classic network finder is a big mistake.

    Hi,
As you said, the other laptop couldn't see the adhoc network.
I suggest you use the following method to re-create the adhoc network.
Firstly, please use the following command to verify that your network interface supports virtualization.
    netsh wlan show drivers
If Hosted network supported says Yes, please enter the following commands to configure an ad hoc wireless connection.
    netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=<network name> key=<passkey>
Then, you need to start the mode to create an ad hoc connection. Please enter the command below.
    netsh wlan start hostednetwork

  • Express does not show IP address of wireless camera

I have a functioning Axis M1011 wireless camera, with a live stream into Safari on my local iMac.  All is well.
My brand new Airport Express is definitely providing the wireless camera feed, as my internal airport card on my iMac is OFF.
What is odd is that Express does not show IP address of the wireless camera when you click on it in Airport Utility.
The iMac is static at 10.0.1.2.  Express LAN IP is static at 10.0.1.1.   The camera's wireless IP is static at 10.0.1.3.
I have a working, hidden network created by express.
I am baffled why express does not "report" the IP address of the camera that it definitely sees.
It does not report any wireless clients at all.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.
    mac

So your ASA should have a route on the inside interface to internal networks. The address of that next hop in the routing table is the one you should have in your arp table allowing you to reach non-directly-connected (subnet-wise) hosts within the scope of that route statement.
Think through the logic - ASA pings a host. It needs to determine proper egress interface. It checks and asks "Is it reachable via a directly connected interface (most preferred route)?" Answer no. "Do I have a route statement telling me how to get to it?" Answer yes (otherwise use default). OK - so ASA sends packet out egress interface defined in that route statement to the next hop as defined in route statement and waits for reply.

  • Not able to connect to wireless network using WEP 128 bit hex password

I'm using a 128 bit hex WEP password on a Belkin wireless router.
My ascii passphrase is 13 characters.
I tried using the hex password generated by the Belkin router, as well as the hex equivalent of my ascii passphrase. Every time, I am told that either "there was an error connecting to the network" or the "password is incorrect" message.
I'm using channel 7, but have also tried with channel 11.
I tried using a $ sign in front of the WEP hex password. The $ does not work with Open Internet Connect or the Airport menubar.
I can connect if I don't use any encryption on the wireless network, and also through the Ethernet cable.
I have an iBook which connects fine to the wireless network.
So why doesn't the iMac work the same way ?

The security difference between NO encryption and any form of WEP is about 2 minutes or less for somebody looking to get in... besides having WEP enabled makes you look like an easy target since you think it'll stop anything!
Either leave it off, making Hackers think at least 3 minutes about WHY, or use/setup WPA of one form or another!

  • Re: Can not get AX configured to wireless network/blinking amber light

Discovered my AX wasn't connected to my AEBS when i couldn't play iTunes through it. I probably screwed up the settings trying to get it to work. I'm running Leopard and Airport Utility shows my AX with an amber light and says that it found an AX with "default settings?" . When I click on "Manual Setup" I get the "reading base station configuration" but no window opens showing the Summary, Base Station, Wireless, etc. window. I've tried doing a hard reset twice, but to no effect.
Where do I go from here?

Eventually solved this problem. One issue was that the channels chosen were different on my AEBS and my AX. The other issue involved resolving the configuration on my AX. For some reason, Airport Utility kept reading it as an ethernet connected device when it was part of a WDS wireless network.

  • IMac does not recognize MacBook Pro over wireless network

    Hi,
I have an iMac running MAC OS X version 10.5.7. It is connected to the Internet via an Airport Extreme Base Station. I just bought a 13-in MacBook Pro that runs the same version of MAC OS X. I connect it to the same wireless network. The MacBook Pro recognizes the iMac (there is an icon of the iMac in the Shared Section of the Finder window). The iMac, however, does not recognize the MacBook Pro. If you have come across this problem and have a solution, I would be most grateful for your advice.
    Regards,
    MTL

I'm having a similar problem with an Intel iMac and a G4 iBook (both running Leopard 10.5.7) since the recent replacement of the iMac's hard drive. Occasionally the iMac will 'see' and allow me to connect to the laptop, but often the connection just drops out, and then I can't find the iBook any more. The iBook, on the other hand, can't detect the iMac at all. I know I have all the settings right - before the HD replacement, everything worked fine in both directions. Interestingly, in the 'WINS' settings in network preferences, the iMac's 'name' bears no relation (just a list of numbers and letters) to the computer's actual name, while the iBook uses the first word of its own name. It's frustrating, as I have to synchronise my work between the two on a daily basis. I can't get them to connect via ethernet cable either.

  • Airport will not connect to my preferred wireless network

    Hi,
I set up a wireless network in my house. My mac connected has connected to it before, but when i had to restart my computer I can no longer connect to it again.
I have added it under my preferred networks and it is top of the priority list.
Every time i try to reconnect it, my comp tells me "connection timedout", therefore not letting me reconnect to it. My router etc appears to be working properly as i can connect via ethernet.
I have tried deleting the preferred network and re-adding it, and rebooting my computer. Nothing seems to be working.
Someone who know about computers please help i have work that needs to be done!
    Thanks!

    Thanks, but it didn't work.
My mac remembers it, but doesn't remember the settings (ie on the preferred list). It tells me that none of my preferred networks are available, even though my network is still in the preferred list.
So i click on my network when it tells me that none of them are available and re-enter my password and it always says connection timeout.
It was working perfectly earlier on today, like i said when i restarted my computer, it automatically connected to another network and i haven't been able to get on to mine since!

  • HP Officejet Pro 8610 does not connect to laptop via wireless network

I have a new HP Officejet Pro 8610. It is connected wirelessly to my home network. My laptop, running Windows 7, is connected to the same network, but cannot find the printer. I have tried turning everything off and resetting the router, but still have the same issue - my laptop cannot find the printer.
I am able to email a document from my laptop to the printer using the printer's email address.
What can I do to get my laptop to find the printer on the wireless network?

    Hey!
This is an issue with your wireless, you either have to get your router looked at you are looking at relocating your printer and your router so they are closer together. If you are able to connect all of your devices to the network fine when you are in the same room; Call HP Technical Phone Support.
If you are in Canada or US call 800 474 6836, or you can Contact HP Worldwide.
HP printers generally have a 1 year warranty from their purchase date, you can verify the warranty using the following link if you would like; warranty check.
    I hope this helps.
    I worked for HP.

  • Airport Express not showing up as a selectable network

I have a new airport express and airport extreme base station (latest firmware installed). I've set up my base station in my home, which is working fine. When I plugged in my airport express, the default name showed up in my available networks on my iPhone. But once I configured it to extend my base station range, it doesn't show up. If I restore the airport express to factory defaults, it shows up again in my iPhone. I can't seem to get the "set up" airport express to show up as available. Any suggestions?

i assume your airport extreme base station (AEBS) is you main router and you want the airport express (AX) join the network provided by the AEBS.
    you could try this:
unplug and re-plug the airport express (AX), then click on the airport icon in your menu bar. you should see something like "Apple network bj1234567" or similar (it may take a little while for it to show up). in order to set up the express, you will have to temporarily join its network ! you will get a message asking +do you really want to switch networks ?+ and you do want to do that.
launch airport utility (AU). you should see the AX on the left. click on the icon of the AX once to highlight it and click continue. follow onscreen instructions and, when prompted, choose to +join an existing network+ and enter the required information for your network.
    any help ?

  • Wifi not working on BT Home wireless network

Can anyone help? I have contacted Apple, who suggested the problem lies with BT. I have contacted BT - surprise, surprise, the problem lies with apple! I have a BT wireless broadband that works fine with my home computer. My iphone, which works in all other respects, can't get on to this network. It recognises that the network exists, I can "join" it, and the wifi symbol appears at the top of the iphone screen, but when I try to access the internet it either reverts to Edge (if there is sufficient signal) or a "can't find server" error message appears.
In "settings" the ip address begins "169", which I believe is wrong, but can't see how to fix it.
    Many thanks

ok jpaddle i think i might have solved it.
the password you need to use is not any of the passwords that you normally use to access the internet from your home computer. rather, the password you use is one of the "wireless key" numbers which are printed on the back of the white plastic HomeHub box.
but first you will have to reset the password settings on your iphone. this is how to do it.
    1. on your iPhone, go into "settings". then go into "wi-fi". with "wi-fi" switched on, choose the network that you want to join [ie your BT Homehub]. press the blue arrow directly on the right hand side of your chosen network. this will take you into the settings of your chosen network. press "forget this network".
you have now reset the password settings for this network.
    2. go back to the screen where you can choose your network. choose your BTHomeHub network again. it will ask for your password [again].
    3. the password that you should enter is the "Wireless Key" serial number [a set of letters and numbers] of "BT HomeHub Wireless Settings" - this password is printed in a grey area on the back of the white plastic Homehub Box.
ie you do not enter the password that you normally use to access the HomeHub settings as an administrator,
you do not enter the password that your wireless home computer normally uses to access the internet via the Homehub, and
you do not use the "wireless key" in "BT Fusion Settings" [which is also on the back of the Homehub plastic box but in a white square...]
