HT1338 I am trying to scan ONE document from my HP4700 series printer/scanner into my Macbook Pro. Manuals are inadequate and confusing. I could've walked it there by now. How do I scan from my printer/scanner?
Trying to scan a document from HP4700 series printer/scanner. Manual directions on this subject are useless and do not work as promised. I know this should be pretty simple. Can someone help?
Does the Scanner show up in Image Capture in Utilities?

Scanning with my brand new Macbook pro using OS X 10.9 just isn't working like it used to with my old white Macbook.
Does anyone have any suggestions?Do you have an MG53xx? If so, then a scanner driver for this model is available from Apple so that you can scan with Image Capture / Preview. So if you open Printers and Scanners and select the MG53xx, you should have two tabs - Print and Scan.
Canon also has a scanning application called MP Navigator available from their web site. To use this application you will also need to download and install the scanner driver for the MG53xx, which should also be available from the same Canon web site. -
I just installed Mavricks over Snow Lepard, and my boot speed is really slow and so is the quit time. From boot to ability to use apps. is slightly greater than 1 minute. Once the desk top appears, the icons in the dock and all aps are not active for at least 25-30 seconds. I would really appreciate any advice anyone more knowledgeable that I can offer. I have attached my system boot log from BOOT_TIME to 1 minute past the time on the clock when I logged in. (I apologize in advance for the length of the log, but hopefully it will suply the needed clues):

Here's what you can try:
Try these in order:
1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and
after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears.
Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
4. Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless. -

Your scanner software may be able to do that; not Adobe Reader.

when printing from aperture my margins are unequal, even if i set my margins they come out bigger one side and not the other. i am using a macbook pro running osx lion and printing with a canon pro 9000.
please can anbody help or advise?You didn't mention any color calibration being done on your monitor. This is an essential part of any color-correct workflow. What are you using to calibrate your monitor (and your printer)?
Print profiles (for soft-proofing as well as printing) are for specific combinations of paper & printer. The nine you have are each, most likely, for a common paper (perhaps mfr'd by Canon) to be used with your printer.
I don't know what you mean when you say "I choose a high standard print option".

How can I scan documents into my MacBook Pro. I am using OS X 10.9.2. I need to scan documents to email to someone and I can't find a way to do that. I normally just scan into my Adobe Photoshop Elements and make a jpeg. But there does not seem to be a way to do that now that the latest OS X is installed. HELP!

That's a difficult one but I'd always go for HP as they make so many excellent models that you'll always be able to buy the cartridges from almost anyone. Theyre darn good printer too. I have four in the office here and one of them is a very neat flatbed with exceptionally high tonal qualities. One of their cheaper models is the HP 5520 A4 inkjet all-in-one - CMYK. Good value at £70 and 4800 x 1200 DPI.

Macbook Pro OSX 10.8 and Epson WF 7525 will no longer print.
It did until quite recently . However now I get filter failed and RastertoescpII and pages of items when i try to print .
Print head test sheets/head cleaning etc ok .
Have tried to to uninstall and reinstall but nothing.
Any advice, please?.

Try re-adding your printer in System Preferences/Print & Fax. Not sure what type of printer you have, but if it was old and relying on an Appletalk connection, Snow Leopard dropped that support.

I've had a MacBook Pro since January 2013 and and Epson 610 series printer-scanner-fax for several years. I may be replacing the printer. For my purposes (printing some articles from the internet, Word documents, book reports, and some PHOTO QUALITY PICTURES) it has worked just fine. I was wondering if anyone could suggest a printer-scanner combo (it doesn't matter if it has a fax option or not) that is MAC friendly, user-friendly, can print photo quality pictures (I do not print them often), and is reasonably priced ($300.00)? Any and all help is sincerely appreciated! Thank you in advance!There's a list of manufacturers of AirPrint-enabled printers on the linked page. I don't have a specific recommendation. The good thing about AirPrint is that it works with OS X as well as iOS, and there's no software to install or keep updated. The printer must be connected to a network with its built-in interface.

I receive an error message when I upload my book for printing. Not sure what the problem is. All my images are jpg and rgb. Could they be too large as it takes about 15minutes to upload to Apple. How do I reduce the size of the image in Aperture?

Error message below. The preview is fine . I can discount the first 2messages as its a new computer so plenty of disk space and upload doesn't seem to be interrupted. I have uploaded to iphoto before. have tried to upload 3times with the same error message. I had to photo my slides with a Kaiser Baas photo maker , which apparently doesn't scan but takes photos in megapixels of the slides. I am wondering now if the format is incompatible though they are jpg files or the colour type wrong. The image files are around 1-3 mb each and 72 ppi. I think I will now scan them properly with a scanner to 300dpi anyway to improve quality.
Apple talks about image files not being too big for uploading but gives no sizing of what too big is?
Error message
1. Upload Error. Loss of connection or file corruption during order upload may cause an incomplete order. Resubmitting your order usually resolves this issue.
2. Low Disk Space. If your computer is running on low disk space, your files may be assembled incorrectly. Create more space by deleting unused files.
3. Unreadable PDF file or image files. Files are sometimes assembled incorrectly due to CMYK or Grayscale color space. Use the RGB color space for best results. -
I inadvertently downloaded MPlayerX into my Macbook Pro and wanted to remove it. I tried (1) jiggling the icon and there was no delete button, (2) dragging the icon to trash didn't work
