My iPod is stuck on recovery mode and its plugged into iTunes but it won't update is says 55 hours remaining and I need it for school work.
It's an iPod 5 and the computer I'm using is windows XP service pack 2 3GHZ intel pentium with 1.5 GB of ram and our Internet runs at 72 Mbps.
I need an answer or even advice on how to fix everything is appreciated because it was my only Christmas present and pretty much my entire life.

Did you use the recovery mode instructions in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 and that did not work?
If that will not work, you can use DFU mode, but the timing of the actions is critical:
Power down the iPhone, start iTunes on the computer, connect the USB end of the cable to the computer.
Press and hold the power button on the iPhone while attaching the other end of the cable, and continue to hold the power button for three seconds. Then, while still holding the power button press and hold the home button. Continue holding both buttons for ten seconds, then release the power button and continue to hold the home button for an additional twenty seconds. Release the home button and you should be able to restore.

Hey guys, a little earlier on I put my ipod touch 4g into recovery mode to restore it. I had way to much junk on my ipod. So i put it in recovery mode and tried to go onto my computer to restore. I plugged it in and went to iTunes, of course, it said an ipod in recovery mode has been detected... etc. so I pressed restore. It went until it was out of extracting software and then said iPod could not be restored due to error (9) so I decided to take it out of recovery mode and find a different solution. So I pressed the home and power button and so forth and so on. It took me to the apple logo and went back to the iTunes symbol with the USB cable under it. I've tried to restore it again but my computer will not detect it and I've tried it on two computers (running iTunes 11.1) and it doesnt show up. So I try to take it out of recovery mode again but nothing works... I really am in need of help. If you can help me please do thnaks!

What is the exact wording of the error message? If a network timeout error then disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall usually resolves that error.

My phone started updating and i turned it off because i didn't want it to update. Then when i turned it back on i never had any service and it told me that i couldn't use my phone until i updated it so i plugged it into my computer to update it. Then it said that i had to restore my phone in order to be able to update it. Ever since I put it in recovery mode, it hasnt come out of it and i can't use my phone at all. Its been six hours since i started.

Take your time... Pay particular attention to Steps 3 and 4.
Some users have reported as many as 8 or 9 attempts were necessary before success.

Re-Sync your Content or Restore from the most recent Backup...

Then a Visit to an Apple Store or AASP (Authorized Apple Service Provider) is the Next Step...

take it to Apple for an out of warranty exchange or you could put it in a bag of dry rice for 7 days then when it is still not working take it to Apple .

Sounds like you can't update your device. You don't mention an error that it gives you. Take a look at both of these articles to troubleshoot.

If you started your device in recovery mode by mistake, restart it to exit recovery mode. Or you can just wait—after 15 minutes the device will exit recovery mode by itself.

Updated my Ipad and now it wont get out of recovery mode.

I have an Ipad 4 and I decided to download the latest update for it.
The download is fine until i pick it up a half hour later and it shows me the recovery mode image. Basically telling me to connect to my computer.
I go to my computer and plug it in, but then my itunes says that in order to connect I have to restore my Ipad.
I very rarely connect my ipad to my computer, and since the last sync I have reinstalled Windows 7, so its essentially a new computer and doesnt recognize my ipad.
Doesnt restore reset my ipad? I have all of my notes from my classes this symester. I cant restore!
No matter what I have done the ipad wont get out of recovery mode.
So please I need help!!

A "Restore" WILL erase your files but you can save them. Read closely before you start.
Connect via cable to the computer that you intend to use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
