HT1351 ipod nano configured for apple want to transfer to PC (pop says it will reformat and erase all content which I don's want to happen)

I want to transfer content from my older shuffle or nano to my pc.  I get a message that says the shuffle or nano was created with a mac and message says that if I reformat it will erase all content on the ipod.   I am going from the ipod to pc and hopefully to iphone and ipad

Well you won't be able to copy this content from your Shuffle or Nano to your PC without the help of third party software such as XPLay since both iPod's are Mac formatted.
Otherwise, you'll have to transfer the contents to a Mac first and then transfer them over to your PC via an external hard drive, usb flash drive, or via Home Sharing if possible.
See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
When you erase an iPod touch, your information, apps and settings are deleted and iOS is back to factory settings. If she wanted an iPod touch with camera, she should return it after erasing it. Note that the iPod touch doesn't store her credit card information

  • How do I get 3 ipods on one computer have their own library without having to sync with another one and erasing its content?

So I have a computer that I use for my iPod and my list is the main library that stays on the computer along with any other music my mom buys from her account. Anytime that I want to add music to any of theres, a window pops up saying that I need to sync to the library and erase the existing one they have. I dont want to do that I just want to be able to add any music they want for it without it saying that. My moms can add any music under her account to hers it still goes on to mine but at least it goes to hers. When my dads is attached it asks that question like I said before. Any one know how to make them all seperate?

  • Reset and erased all content and settings on ipod 5, it has been resetting for 3  hours!

I decided to reset my ipod touch 5th generation but now it has been stuck on a white loading circle for over 3 hours!!!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    Hi there,
It sounds like you have already performed a majority of the steps listed in the article below, but you may still want to at some of the troubleshooting listed.

If none of the above steps resolves the issue, make an appointment at an Apple Retail Store, contact your carrier, orcontact AppleCare to troubleshoot further.

  • Is resetting your iPod touch 5g through settings - general - erase all content the same thing as restoring your iPod when it's plugged in?

My iPod was randomly restarting itself but I think I fixed it by completely resetting the iPod through the settings

No. Restoring via iTunes reinstalls the entire iOS while Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content only deletes all user information.

  • Want to use an iPod photo configurated for Mac on a PC

I want to use my old iPod photo (configurated for Mac) on a PC (but do not need to keep my songs and photos). Is this possible? If so, what do I do?
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   iPod 5th generation 60 GB

If your iPod is formatted for Mac it won't run natively on a PC because the Windows OS does not support the HFS Plus file system and therefore will not see the drive. Macs can read Windows drives so you could restore and format the iPod on a PC, this would also mean any future software updates would have to be done on Windows. This will erase your drive so you need to have your songs and photos backed up. Alternatively there are third party programs that will allow you to use a Mac formatted iPod on Windows, this is one for instance gets good reviews and has the functionality to let you copy content from the iPod to the PC. Not sure if it does photos but have a look: XPlay 2
You can read another user's experience of using XPlay at this link: iPod on Mac and Windows

  • IPod nano 7 for sports usage

    Hello,
I've bought an iPod nano 7 because I wanted to have full control over my music.
The Shuffle comes with a robust clip for sports.
Is there any robust accessory available for iPod nano 7 with clip, I can use for running and in the gym?
Arm bands aren't good for gym.
I've checked the MintSuit Jazz Slim Case which slipped off the sporting clothes on running.
The igadgitz Clip'n'Go was very sleazy.
    Any other suggestions?

If you have already tried a hard reset, the next step is to restore your iPod nano to see if it is a software issue.  This will erase the content on the iPod nano, but if you have the music on your computer, you should be able to sync it back over.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1339
If it continues to give you the same volume problem after restoring it, then it might be a hardware problem, and you would need to get it serviced.

  • ZCover iPod Nano case for sale in UK, anyone interested?

I am selling a zCover ipod nano case for anyone in the UK that wants it. Used for 1 week, but need to sell as I no longer have an ipod!
Comes with the 2 cases and screen protector. Cheapest in the UK is £20, but I am starting bids at £10
If anyone is interested please go to

    Item number: 5825958158

I had a look at this case sounds good, but when checked it out on the web, saw this review.
I tend to agree, if doesn't protect the screen what use is it.
Another thing to add about the review, sounds a little like they were promoting this web site, when checking it out, did have a review but has been archived, and they expected to buy $$ to read the cramy opinion.
If you click RainDayMagazine you notice they only posted on this topic and identical in each stream, purely promoters not ipod users helping others.
I stick clear of this case. One last thing, you cant see your ipod either through the metal finish of this case.
    Google search on iKeychain case:-
There have been a lot of rumblings in the Apple community about how easily the iPod Nano’s screen gets scratched so I am surprised that iLounge rewarded this case with an 8 even though it doesn’t offer any protection to the screen. It’s a very stylish case and the keychain aspect of it makes it very chic, but if I can’t read the screen due to it being scratched up then the case serves me no purpose.
You have to assume that because this case fits on a keychain it will be surrounded by keys and from what I have learned through extensive research over the past 17 months is that keys scratch stuff, .....
Who be stupid enough to run over their ipod really, please.

  • HT201274 We want to reset my daughters ipod but when we go to erase all content and settings it asks for a restriction password and we have no idea what that is noone remembers making one how do we get around this.

We are wanting to reset our ipod but when we go to erase all content it asks us for a restriction password and we have no idea what that is and dont remember ever setting one up.  How do we get around this.?

    Forgotten RESTRICTIONS Passcode
    - Restore from a backup that was make before you added the Restrictions passcode. If you restore from a backup made with the Restrictions passcode the Restrictions passcode is also restored.
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - If you are up to file manipulation see:
How to reset forgotten Restrictions...: Apple Support Communities
    As Ana said,
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

So I sent off my iPod nano1st gen on the replacement program 4-5 weeks ago and I still haven't heard anything or the replacement delivery process hasn't went to the diagnosis phase. Shouldn't I know something by now or have confirmation that apple have received my iPod nano? Ay replies to this would be here helpful.
    Thanks

  • I just bought an Apple TV. I have found that I can only use my Ipod "remote" app for Apple

I just bought an Apple TV. I have found that I can only use my Ipod "remote" app for Apple TV products and not with my Netflix app-the Home TV icon only shows with Apple products.
I had hoped that I could use my Laptop Pro for unrelated tasks while I watch a movie-I have chosen TV only on the drop down. I dont seem to be able to seperate the two

The movies do not download onto apple TV it shows them as purchased and you need to stream them down. If you want to show your purchased music on Apple TV you need to sign up for iTunes Match.
There seem to be a few glitches with iTunes Match so i just use the computer icon to listen to music on my computer through Apple TV. If you have your Movies and TV shows on your computer this is where you will find them.
The Movies and TV Shows buttons on the main page of Apple TV show you films and tv shows you have purcahsed or cen rent or purchase.
You can also sync your Photos over as well. Method is slightly different in that in iTunes on the computer
File > HomeSharing > Choose photos to share with Apple TV
