Just what are yo trying to do?
To use the iTunes/App store media on your computer the computer has to be authorized for the account that purchased the media

If you are redownlood you still need a valid payment method.

thanks but if Im using iCloud For my Iphone and backing my ipod touch to my computer is that ok or would I have to back both up to ICloud. As u can telll, I want to kep the 2 devices seperate as much as possible, only putting on my phone what i choose to download, buy, or take from my current itunes library most importantly.

See this post from forum regular Zevoneer for options on moving your iPod data back to your computer.

You should be able to:
Backup the device to the new installation
Transfer your purchases into a newly authorized library
Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post from forum regular Zevoneer
Restore the device from the backup
This process should switch the association of the device to the new library, preserving the data and settings in your apps.
May also be prudent to attempt a backup to iCloud directly from the device before you start... Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup > On. It won't save any media but it would preserve the general account settings and documents in case anything goes wrong while you are trying to extract your other data.
When you get it all fixed, make a backup!

The first thing to check would be your internet download speed, you can do this at www.speedtest.net.
HD movies require a recommended speed of 6 Mbps, while SD movies require a recommended speed of 2.5 Mbps.
Additionally, your 24 hours don't start until you begin to watch the movie, you have 30 days to start watching the movie.

However recently my computer died and I am considering replacing it with an ipad eventually. Can I still add stuff onto my two devices? And if so, am I limited to apple store purchases only? Can I retain all the photos and non-apple store downloaded music that is presently on these two devices? Any guidance in this area will be very welcome!

Music imported from a CD or another source
iTunes cannot transfer this media back to a computer. Make sure to back up your iTunes Library, or you can use iTunes Match2.

Do you see them on the phone? If not, they are NOT "still in the phones hardware".
It's hard to suggest a course of action when we don't know what you did and you are unable to tell us.
If they are not on your computer, and they are not on the phone, I don't know what else to suggest...
Were you using iCloud? Did you have photo stream enabled? If you did, they would have been uploaded to iCloud. If you did not, then they are gone.

Just had my ipod touch replaced kindly by apple as was a fault but all the purchased songs i had on it are gone anyway off getting them back and no i didn't back it up b4 it went faulty....

If you are the USA and using the latest iTunes you can redownload most iTunes purchased via the iCloud beta:

Need driver for iPod video and Windows Vista

I had an iPod video and it synched no problem to my computer. There was a hardware issue inside the iPod so i sent it back and got a new one. Now when I connect it to my computer, it brings up the looking for a driver window and says it can't find it. Its only been a week since it worked fine.. I don't know if there is an issue with the new iTunes or what but has anyone had any experience with this issue or can simply tell me where to directly download or find the driver?

No longer able to import photos onto my iPod Video 80GB

I have had my iPod Video 80gb for about 2 months and at first enjoyed viewing my photos on it. The day that V7.3 was released & I upgraded I experienced several problems, some of which are already well documented on this forum. One problem that nobody else seems to have mentioned, is that I can now no longer import any of my photos onto my iPod. I receive the message...
“Some of your photos including filename.jpg were not copied to the iPod Caraline’s iPod because they cannot be displayed on your iPod.
As absolutely nothing had changed on either my iPod or my computer (other than iTunes version) I presumed this problem was tied up the new version. As I was having other problems with this version I decided to uninstall and re-install V7.2. However the problem persists. I even tried deleting everything from my iPod and every iTunes file, folder & cache and starting from scratch again with V7.2. I have also re-set my iPod back to the factory settings.
It does not seem to matter what the source of the original photos was, either from camera, or scanned, nor does it matter the size. I have spent hours experimenting, and absolutely nothing I do seems to solve this problem.
I am totally stumped as to why photos that I once could copy onto my iPod now are deemed undisplayable. I feel terribly disappointed as my iPod now seems crippled and does not perform a function that was a main consideration in buying one in the first place.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So, I have had an Ipod touch (fourth generation) for a little less than a year now, and I have never had any problems with it until the latest version of itunes came out. Now, my ipod never can sync (I left it up for an hour before and it only got to step 2 out of 7), and I can't add any more music to my ipod! To make it worse, about 100 songs that I had deleted off my ipod, but could still be found in my itunes library, appeared again on my ipod! But, they are grayed out and I can't listen to them so they just take up space.
Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:

I have now got a ipod shuffle as well as my ipod video but need help

Hi there I already had a ipod video and have it all set up so that when i plug my video ipod itunes updates. But now i have a ipod shuffle and am confused how to make it work properly with itunes. Itunes has 30gig woorth of music which is for my video ipod. My new shuffle only has 512meg space. So when I want to add new songs without messing up my ipod video stuff. Please can someone help me sort this out. I want itunes to continue updating my video ipod but i only want to choose a few albums to go on ipod shuffle. How do I do this.

The shuffle acts a LOT differently than your video iPod.
I have mine set up to stay in the iTunes source list. I manually drag songs over to it.

well i got my ipod video for xmas, and i uploaded all my songs that i had on my computer to my ipod, well when i went to go use my ipod, i found that some of my songs were missing from my music file, and had been placed on my video file...can someone please help me...
