My ipad mini is frozen in an app and the home button is stuck. Pressing the wake/sleep button does not bring up the red slider to turn the ipad off. Is there any other way I can reset the ipad? Can I remove the battery? and then put it back in?

Try a Reset ( No Data will be Lost )

Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)

Check for 'others' in iTunes against your iPhone.
Restore from a previous backup to reclaim some of it.

Whatever, the music is still on my IPod. Is there anyway files on an Ipod can be transferred back into ITunes? Or is there any other way I can try to recover my music files? Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself independently backed up against loss. To use a device with a new computer you transfer the content from the old computer (or its backup) directly to the new computer, not the device to the new computer. Media syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.

If you still have the receipt or other proof of purchase, you can ask Apple to send you the serial. Otherwise, bad luck mate.. Good news is, you can now buy Logic Pro 9 from App Store for just 199 USD

somehow you gotta get the episodes on your computer, then you can convert it to your iPod.

You have tried a Reset not a Restore...
If the Device is locked with a Pass Code you don't know you will have to Restore as New...

Sounds like you're out of luck.
Hopefully you have a good backup of your iPhone that you can use when you purchase your replacement.
Take your broken iPhone to an Apple Store or an Authorized Apple Service Provider. They may offer you a somewhat less-than-full price deal for your replacement.

The only way to get rid of the restrictions passcode is to restore the device. Why can you not restore the device. The restrictions passcode will not prevent you from restoring, only the regular 4-digit passcode to enter the phone can do that.
