I have an IPhone 4gs with 16G and it is showing no memory left but the most usage is in Other. This just started showing up when I activated ICloud. I have now turned off ICloud but the storage capacity has not improved.

Connect to iTunes with a cable and restore the phone to factory settings. You can then restore your backup.

I think the issue is that iTunes (for whatever reason) thinks I have two Apple ID's.
also, to further complicate the issue, when i try updating the apps from my iPod the iTunes store is still recognizing my old hotmail Apple ID. So when I go to enter my password it won't accept because it doesn't match with the old Apple ID, even though it is the same account (just new Apple ID name).
I have tried signing out within the App Store and re-signing in with my Apple ID but it still brings up my old Apple ID name when I try to update.

My phone runs out of storage. Most of the usage is 'other'??

I have to reset my phone to its factory settings to delete the 'other' data that takes up so much of the storage. I only have 200 photos, very little music (50 songs?) one ibook, and 25 apps. The apps include Flickr that does automatic uploads of the photos I take.
Im puzzled as to what is creating the 'other' info and also the documents and data (even though as far as I can see in the settings D&D is switched off).

I did a restore, but still showing 749mb other and 350 documents and data.
I have just deleted my email account and about to re-install it to see if this helps.

How do you delete a phone number from an iphone that is listed under other and not in the contacts list?

When I text a contact in my iphone 4s the name will show up like it should but it has the persons current phone number and another or their old number listed under other. Its not in my contacts on my laptop anywhere so how do I delete that old number, I have looked in my phone contacts its not there but its like the email addressess show up to if you start typing an email address will show up even if its not one in your contacts.

I called Apple Care, tried various things that did not work, then completely reset my iPhone 5 and restored from a recent backup. That worked for a day or so, then the definct "other" number was again offered when I started typing the name of a contact whom I wanted to text.

I activated my phone expecting to download my contacts from BackupAssistant, but no contacts? Can I access this? I do have access to my old phone as well.

I need my contacts that were not part of Facebook and other accounts.

export b a contacts as a csv file, then add to or create another email account.
import csv file into old or new email address book.
sync contacts in the new or old email to phone & you'll have your b a contact list..

5.0 RC: slower and uses more memory

So far, I can't approve the promise of JDK 5.0 (RC): it is not only slower but also takes up more memory! Startup time is also the same compared to 1.4.2_05.
I tested with a server application running the same task several times in sequence. The task does a little JDBC access, some calculations and some heavy XML processing and FOP generating. I checked it twice but running the server with the 5.0 RC server HotSpot took considerably longer than with the 1.4.2_05 server HotSpot VM: 10 - 30 % longer!!! As I log memory usage after each task, the 5.0 test also showed slightly more memory used than the 1.4.2_05 version. (On Windows 2000 computer)
I wonder if this is a joke from Sun or if the RC is not optimized/has debug code enabled???

I hope that the final version could ship better optimized than the RC version - it's very slow even in a Pentium 4 machine. Is there any debug info left in jvm.dll anymore?

N79 showing no more than 92 SIM Contacts after lat...

After I've updated my N79 to the latest firmware 30.019 I found that its showing no more than 92 contacts from my SIM card (about 240 contacts), and as I store all the contacts on it then I have no option but finding a way or another to store all of them on the phone ... I'm not pleased by this as i try to put all the contacts on the SIM in case of empty battery of something like that.
Please anyone have the same problem or anyone have an idea about how to fix it.
Note: I've tried to reupdate it via NSU and to do a hard reset but in vain

I am facing the same problem after updating to 30.019 my N79 was displaying only 91 contacts while in the contacs info its was showing 206 contacts on sim.
I have resolved this problem using following steps
1 Take backup of all phone contacts using the OVI after successful backup.
3 Change contact setting to display only phone contacts
4.Delete all contacts from the phone. Now ther are only 91 (actual 206) contacts from sim and 0 from phone.
5.Change contact setting to display sim contacts.
6.Copy these 91 contacts to phone and delete these 91 contacts from the sim.
7.Change contact setting to display phone and sim contacts.
7.Reboot the phone now phone is showing next 91 contacts from sim and 91 copied contacts from the phone (actual no may differ depsnding upon the actual contacts in the sim).
8.Change contact setting to display sim contacts.
9.Copy these 91 contacts to phone and delete these 91 contacts from the sim.
10.Change contact setting to display phone and sim contacts.
11.Reboot the phone now phone is showing next 24 (206 - (91 + 91)) contacts from sim and 182 (91 +91) copied contacts from the phone (actual no may differ depsnding upon the actual contacts in the sim).
12.Change contact setting to display sim contacts.
13.Copy these 24 contacts to phone and delete these 24 contacts from the sim.
10.Change contact setting to display phone and sim contacts.

12 go to contacts mark all contacts from the phone and select 'create backup' option , phone will ask this will erase all data from the Sim card' select 'ok' and take backup.
13 go to contacts marl all contacts and copy to sim. now there are 206 contacts on sim and 206 on phone.
14 Change contact setting to display phone contacts.
15 Delete all 206 contacts.
16 Change contact setting to display phone and sim contacts. Now there are 206 contacts from sim (in the contacts info 206 and actual displaying 206).
17 connect mobile to pc and restore oroginal phone contacts (back up in the step 1) using ovi suite.
After this you will have all your phone and sim contacts.

Should I buy more memory?

I am frequently setting with almost zero free memory, and 750-1GB of inactive memory.
Sometimes I max out the memory entirely (zero free, very low inactive), but that is much rarer.
Will getting more memory do me any good? My machine runs like a dog when I have no free memory, even if there's plenty of inactive memory.

I am definitely aware that Safari is a memory hog, and I close it frequently to clear it out.
I've used iFreeMem before, but it seems like it has slowed my system down more than speeding it up.. I get a lot of beachballs and UI lag after using it.
Anyway, the weirdest part of all this, is the behavior exhibited by this example:
I have zero free memory, and 1GB of inactive memory.
I shut down several applications to free up around 1.5GB total of inactive and free memory.
I start up VMWare which immediately wires/activates 1GB of memory.
I shut down VMWare, and it shows no used memory (other than inactive, of course).
I am now back to having 245MB of free memory and 1.21GB inactive.
It seems like closing out my applications doesn't free memory for other applications to use. As a result, resuming virtual machines can be heinously slow, because it has to free every ounce of memory that it needs to resume.
Will more memory solve this, or will OS X just eat all that up as inactive too?

The Activity Monitor always says there is free RAM
of less than 5MB. Inactive RAM of 68-70 MB.

More RAM is in direct proportion to the speed in which applications load and function, especially in gaming and surfing the web and download speeds.
More Ram is always better. You are presently on the low side of the preverbal graph. This is the reason for sluggish performance.

I want to allocate more memory to my video graphics.

My laptop model is SL30 (PSL33) and I'd assumed it was shared graphics.
I've maxed the RAM to 2GB, but since upgrading to Windows 7, I keep getting video graphics error messages for games I could play before in Vista.
Toshiba doesn't seem to have an updated graphics driver for Windows 7 yet, and I'm guessing this is the problem.
Does integrated graphics simply use all the RAM you have available or do you have to manually increase it?
