HT1766 since os7 update for ipad, I can't sign into Facetime. I enter username & password & the message I get back is "FaceTime Activation could not sign in. Pls check your network connect". There is nothing wrong with my wifi connect. What's up with this

Any takers on this question ? FaceTime is one of the apps I used all the time prior to Os7 update, now i can't get in because when I try to sign in, the message I receive says Activation could not sign in and I should check my network connection. My network connection works fine, I can use the internet or twitter or all the other apps which require a working network, but not FaceTime.......What's up with that ??

there has been a big problem with facetime and imessage. The best solution for this case is to restore your device http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Make sure you back it up. and I would set up facetime before you reinstall your backup and  make sure its working.

    Help!
I have also logged out of my other laptop and closed my phones Facetime.

    Hi KateD14!
I have an article here that addresses this sign in issue with FaceTime and may have some troubleshooting steps to help you resolve this issue:
FaceTime, Game Center, Messages: Troubleshooting sign in issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3970
    Resolution
    Try the following:
Ensure that you have an active Internet connection.
Verify that you are using a valid Apple ID at appleid.apple.com. You can also create an Apple ID or reset your password from this website. Other things you should confirm while logged into appleid.apple.com:
Confirm that the email addresse(s) for your Apple ID has been verified.
Check for miss-types of the email address
Check the spelling of the email address
Check that all letters are lower case
Make sure that special characters are correct, e.g. no commas (,) where there is supposed to be full stops (.), etc.
Note You may experience issues if your email address is associated with more than one Apple ID. If you have multiple Apple IDs, log in to appleid.apple.com with each Apple ID and confirm that each email address you wish to use for FaceTime or Messages is associated with only a single Apple ID.
Make sure the date, time, and time zone are set correctly in Data & Time preferences, in System Preferences. Tip: Enable "Set date and time automatically" in Date & Time preferences to automatically keep this information accurate.
If third-party firewall or port filtering software is installed, it needs to be configured to allow connections to apple.com, verisign.com and verisign.net. A list of ports required for using FaceTime and Messages is in Using FaceTime and iMessage behind a firewall. Please consult this article for further help configuring firewalls and Internet security software.
If your /private/etc/hosts file has been modified, make sure that it is not interfering with communications to apple.com, verisign.com or verisign.net servers. Note: Some third-party software installers may modify the /private/etc/hosts file without alerting you. Instructions about how to check and resolve issues with a /private/etc/hosts file are in the "Blocked by configuration: (Mac OS X/Windows)" section of iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting

  • Can't signing in iMessage , (could not sign in. please check your network connection )

I has already enter correct apple id and connect to wifi but it still can't sign in to iMessage and faceTime . the notification shown (iMessage Activation . Could not sign in. please check your network connection and try again )

I GOT IT! I tried all of the other things people suggestions and nothing worked for me. Don't change your DNS.
I had to back up all of my everything, turn off facetime and iMessage, and reset my entire phone under settings>general>reset>erase all content and settings. back sure you back up contacts, pictures, apps, etc. on iCloud and your apple ID because it will all be gone. then configure your phone at sq. 1, and in the first couple steps you're gonna wanna skip registering your apple ID, and then move along until you're at the home page. then go to settings, turn on facetime, turn on iMessaging, try to log in. It should work after your phone has reconfigured. then go ahead, once iMessage is working, log into iCloud and your Apple ID so that you get all your **** back. I really hope this helped... blood, sweat and tears went into the process of finding this answer..

If you are using someone else's WiFi they may have restrictions in place.
      (cofee shop, etc..)
Have you tried connecting using at least more than one particular WiFi network ?
You might want to try googling for a bandwidth test site
      verify you have reasonable throughput..
1 megabit up and 1 megabit down..
(bandwidthplace.com is what I typically use..)

  • I was trying to update my garageband app and once the app fully downloads it says that it could not install and to check my internet connection. I restarted my internet, turned it off and on, restarted my computer, and nothing works what do i do

I was trying to update my garageband app and once the app fully downloads it says that it could not install and to check my internet connection. I restarted my internet, turned it off and on, restarted my computer, deleted the app and downloaded it again and the same thing happened every time. What should I do?

Do you have any firewalls or antivirus software active (e.g. Little Snitch), that could prevent the installer from contacting the Apple Servers? If yes, turn them off.  Also, disable the Energy saver, to prevent the Mac from falling asleep and causing time outs.
Sometimes it will help, to run the installer in Safe Mode, see:  Mac OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode?

  • Facetime error "Could not sign in. please check your network connectivity and try again

When I try to log in to Facetime on my iMac, it gives me the an error. "Could not sign in. please check your network connectivity and try again" I have already tried fixing the time and I dont have any firewall installed

This could be a complicated problem to solve, as there are many possible causes for it. Test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Back up all data before making any changes.
Before proceeding, test on another network, if possible. That could be a public Wi-Fi hotspot, if your computer is portable, or a cellular network if you have a mobile device that can share its Internet connection. If you find that iMessage works on the other network, the problem is in your network or at your ISP, not in your computer.
    Step 1
Check the status of the service. If the service is down, wait tor it to come back up. There may be a localized outage, even if the status indicator is green.
    Step 2
Sign out of iMessage and FaceTime on all your Apple devices. Log out and log back in. Try again to sign in.
    Step 3
Restart your router and your broadband device, if they're separate. You may have to skip this step if you don't control those devices.
    Step 4
    From the menu bar, select
               ▹ About This Mac
Below the "OS X" legend in the window that opens, the OS version appears. Click the version line twice to display the serial number. If the number is missing or invalid according to this web form, take the machine to an Apple Store or other authorized service center to have the problem corrected.
    Step 5
Take the steps suggested in this support article. If you don't understand some of the steps or can't carry them out, ask for guidance.
    Step 6
    From the menu bar, select
               ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Network
If the preference pane is locked, click the lock icon in the lower left corner and enter your password to unlock it. Then click the Advanced button and select the Proxies tab. If the box marked SOCKS Proxy is checked, uncheck it. You don’t need to change any other settings in the window. Click OK and then Apply. Test.
The result may be that you can't connect to the Internet at all. Revert the change if that happens, or if iMessage still doesn't work. Remember that you must Apply any changes you make in the preference pane before they take effect.
    Step 7
    Select from the menu bar
               ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Storage
    and click
Block all sites from storing information on this computer
    Close the preference pane.
    Step 8
Make sure you know the ID and password you use with iMessage. Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Use the search box in the toolbar of the Keychain Access window to find and delete all items with "iMessage" or "com.apple.idms" in the name. Log out and log back in.
    Step 9
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
If iMessage worked in the guest account, stop here and post your results.
    Step 10
Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you start up, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound outputand Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. After testing, restart as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and test again.
If iMessage worked in safe mode, but still doesn't work when you restart in "normal" mode, stop here and post your results.
    Step 11
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.apsd.plist
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Restart the computer and empty the Trash.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 12
    Reset the NVRAM.
    Step 13
Reset the System Management Controller (SMC).
    Step 14
    Reinstall OS X.
    Step 15
If none of the above steps resolves the issue, make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or contact Apple Support. When you set up a support call, select "Apple ID" as the product you need help with, not the hardware model. That way, if you're not under AppleCare, you may be able to talk your way out of being charged for the call.
