HT1879 Re-downloading music to iPhone 4s

I bought 5 albums almost 4 years ago I think using my ipod touch. not that I have an iPhone, is there a way I can move them or re-download it to my iPhone?

Everything should be on your computer.
If for some reason you have failed to transfer them to your computer from your ipod, then do so:  File>Transfer Purchases
You can redownload some itunes purchases in some countries:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

How do I download music from iphone to computer/itunes

Wjosten ... sorry to push in to this discussion ... but I have a related music question ... and thought you might be able to answer.
I know iOS does not enable audio files to be attached to text messages.  I assume this is to prevent illegal sharing of songs.  But who is actually saying 'no.'   Is it the music owners (studios and publishers) who fear they will lose control of copyrighted songs (a la Napster)?  Or is it Apple protecting the iTunes business.  Or both.  I wouldn't blame either ... they are just protecting their IP.  I'm just curious.  I wonder if the music companies suddenly decided to allow some kind of music file sharing via text messages ... would Apple (and Google) go along and enable such sharing on smartphones and devices ??

  • Can I download music from my PC onto my new iPhone and still have my iPhone use iTunes on my Mac without a problem? I have no music on the Mac because it is new. Can I download music onto iPhone on both PC and Mac?

Can I download music from my PC onto my new iPhone and still have my iPhone sync with my Mac without a problem?
I've had an iPod over a year and have not done much with it except download music onto it from my PC. Just recently have purchased the iPhone.  When I got my iPod I didn't have a Mac, but now I do.  I am really into my iPhone, so now I want to make sure that I don't do anything wrong. So can I connect my iPhone to both my PC and my Mac without it getting mixed signals and stop working.  I have no music on my Mac but plan to download music into iTunes on it.  So can I download music from both computers without problems onto my iPhone?

    StoneMountainGirl,
No. You can only music to your iPhone from one computer at a time.  If you try to load music onto it from a 2nd computer, it will erase the current content on the iPhone and replace it with whats in the iTunes library you are connected to,

  • Can't download music to iPhone

I'm unable to download music on to my iPhone. I got it back in December and had it hooked up to a different computer. I ended up getting rid of that one so I'm trying to hook it up to a new computer. Went okay. I have previously had an older ipod set up with this computer but got rid of it several years ago. So all my music I have on my iPhone currently is not in a library it's in a seperate section called "On this iPhone". So I have new music I would like to add and  I'm just unable. I know this is probably really confusing but I'm unable to sync my new music onto my iPhone.

The iphone will sync with one computer at a time. If you sync to another it will erase the current content from the iphone.

Question: How can I get her itunes music & apps to her iphone?
We only have 1 Macbook that we download from.

The iphone will sync with one computer at a time. If you sync to another it will erase the current content from the iphone.

  • How to download music to iPhone

I have seen quite a few questions about general syncing (i get that) but this my question is:
My music appears on the iPhone with the cloud symbol. That's fine but if I'm not near WiFi/3G I'm SOL. How do I get the music downloaded onto the phone ala a regular iPod player so I'm not internet reliant? Syncing just seems to sync the titles/playlists.
    Thanks

The Music app is the iPod.
Unless you transfer music from your iTunes library to your iPhone via the iTunes sync/transfer process, no music is on your iPhone. The other options are streaming music when connected to the same wi-fi network as your iTunes library, or downloading music from your iTunes account via iCloud when selecting the iTunes store app.
If you want music on your iPhone - not having to download music from your iTunes account via iCloud when selecting the iTunes store app, what is selected under the Music tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes?

  • How to download music from iPhone 4?

How to download music from iphone4 to new mac without deleting the old data from the iPhone4?
my frnd slip coffee on my old mac so had to get a new one and now want to add new songs onto my phone but don't want to loose my old songs.
Any suggestion??? without buying ripping software, as i have already send a lot not the new mac book pro

iOS devices are not and have never been backup devices.
Move the content from the old computer or the backup of the old computer.
Hopefully this clumsy friend either paid for or at the very least contributed to the replacement cost of the new computer.
If for some silly reason you have failed to maintain a backup, downloading past purchases from iTunes.

  • How to download music on iPhone to iTunes?

    Hi-
I have an iPhone 5 and I have downloaded an album from another computer which is not a purchase I made from iTunes, it was a CD download on the computer that I put on my phone through iTunes. That computer is no longer functioning. I want to get that album from my iPhone to my computer, but I do not have a disk drive so I want to download the music from my iPhone to iTunes. I can't figure out how to do this.
    Thanks for the help
    x

The iPhone is not a storage/backup device.  The sync is one way - computer to iPhone.
The only exception is iTunes purchases.
You may be able to buy a third party program at your risk to extract the music.
Did you not maintain a backup copy of your old computer?

  • Downloading music to iPhone question

Apparently I don't understand how it works. I downloaded about 45 songs frome iTunes to my iPhone a couple of days ago. Yesterday, I decided to download 1 more song to the phone. Now I only have that 1 song on my iPhone and the others have gone away. When you download a song to the phone, does it replace what is there with the new song(s)?

When you sync music to your iphone it syncs exactly what you have checked to sync. If, on itunes, you checked one song to sync, that is exactly what will sync. If you check a playlist, that will sync. Iphone will reflect only what you have checked, in itunes, to sync.

  • I want to download music from Iphone 4 to my computer

I had to re-install my OS on my computer.  I had my music backed up.  After getting my PC working, I installed ITunes and added my backup folder to the library.  I seems I have music on my phone that is not in my ITunes nor on my PC.
I would to download the music from my IPhone 4 to ITunes or better to a folder on my PC.

    Hello!
The article linked below details how to go about transferring music that you've purchased (but may not be in iTunes on your computer) from your iPhone to iTunes.

  • Option to not download music to iphone?

Maybe I don't have a choice, but as I understand it if I play music from my library on my iphone, it will automatially download to the phone. If this is the case, I'm going to run out of space quickly (I have a 16 gb phone). Is there any alternative?

i just found this blurb from an huffington post article:
iTunes Match works like this: After you sign up, the service scans through your music library and matches every song to a song in the iTunes Library; songs that don't have a match are uploaded into the cloud. iTunes Match keeps a record of every song you own and, provided you have an Internet connection, allows you to play these songs within from any activated device. All songs play in high-quality 256kbps AAC from the web, no matter the format you have on your computer; Apple pointed out that this is not streaming, exactly, as each song downloads to your device when you push play. So while the playback is instantaneous, you are not streaming your music from the cloud, per se, but you are listening as the song places itself on your hard drive.
.....So it would seem to me that at some point, you will run out of space on your iphone. I'm not certain what the point it of downloading the song. I feel like I must be missing something.

  • Can anyone help me find a download for 10.6.3 so I can download music on iphone from itunes?

I have updated my software on both the my macpro, as well as my itunes account supposedly.....but I am still being told my iphone 4 is not compatible with the software I am currently using, and that I need to go to itunes to download the latest version which is 10.6.3.  This may be Im just not looking in the right place, and Im not the most tech savvy person either, but would really appreciate your help.
    thanks

Just to be clear, there are a number of things that have versions that sound like are not current, and there's a big difference between "update" and "upgrade" that you should be aware of.
First, iTunes' current version is 11.0.2.  In order to run that, you need at least OS X version 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) running as your Mac's operating system, which is what wjosten is referencing above.
When you are being told to download the latest version, the guidance you are given is for an update.  Updates are free.  However, being very far behind (as it sounds like you are), you will need to upgrade (not free).  As wjosten points out, the SL (Snow Leopard) must be purchased.
By the way, the current OS X operating system release is 10.8.3 (Mountain Lion), so even going to 10.6.8 would leave you quite a bit behind current.
    Hope that helps.
