I was directed to this ridiculous article that was zero help. My problem is a ghost apple id from an account dead and gone.Ever since I created a new apple id I have been haunted by the ghost of accounts past.It creeps out of the closet and shows up in all sorts of apps asking for a password that I do not, nor did I ever know. Then I updated and synced my ipod touch with my pc-thats when it really hit the fan! I cant update apps or buy songs without giving them this password IDK. I am logged in w/ MY apple ID but when I go to purchase or update- this ghost id slams up to thwart my plans. what the flapjacks is going on? I understand I purchased these apps w/ this old id but the psswrd of that id was changed (it was my sons) after I created my own to use.He initially set up the ipod for me as a gift.Now he is out of the country and I have no idea what the old id's new password is.and why should I? when I have an id that was working fine?
This makes sense to me. I think the issue is your misunderstanding. If you purchased an item, your Apple ID becomes tied to that permanently. So when you try to update that app, you need the password to the ID that 'OWNS' that application.
Also, I suspect you have a different ID signed into the device, which is why you can't buy with your own. That article listed shows how to change the signed in account.

Shut the Mac down.
Holding the Cmd+Opt+P+R keys, press the power button.
Listen for the "startup chime" to sound three times and release the keys.

Other Apps Besides iTunes That'll Back Up All of iPhone's Contents?
Hi. iTunes only backups or syncs in one direction, from iTunes to the iPhone but if you want to put the contents of the iPhone to the iTunes to overwrite what's on the iTunes, there's no feature yet for iTunes or iPhone to do that (anyone knows why Apple has not made that so?). I did wish it was straightforward and that you could just choose from or to which device you want to overwrite and you could see graphically the flow of data so you'd know exactly how it'll go about things.
What other third-party apps could back-up your iPhone contents completely?

I'm just wondering supposing if you just got a new Mac with a freshly installed OS (or a freshly installed OS X without back up) and supposing you already have an iPhone (or any iOS device) first which is filled with photos, movies, sms and third-party apps already. Upon syncing with iTunes (blank) on the new Mac does it mean the iPhone's contents will be erased because iTunes only syncs one way, from itself to the iPhone? What's the solution for situations like this?

First and foremost, the iPhone is not designed or intended to be a backup storage device or a stand alone device. There is no excuse to not have a backup for all important data on your computer's hard drive - none whatsoever.
When syncing iTunes content with an empty iTunes library, all iTunes content on the iPhone will be erased. For the not too bright folks who don't maintain a backup for all important data on their computer's hard drive and namely their iTunes library or at least for some of it, iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iPod, iPad, or iPhone, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store only.
Photos transferred from your computer to your iPhone (selected under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes) are optimized for viewing on your iPhone as part of the iTunes sync/transfer process - the original resolution of these photos is reduced on your iPhone, which is why the transfer of photos from your computer is a one way transfer process only. Photos on your computer's hard drive should be included with your computer's backup along with all other important data. There is no excuse for not having a backup for your computer's most important data.

The photos are easier to back up using Image Viewer or iPhoto).
iPhoto or Image Capture on a Mac can be used for importing photos/videos from the iPhone's Camera Roll, but this is not a backup - not technically. Although photos/videos in the Camera Roll are included with your iPhone's backup which is updated by iTunes as the first step during the iTunes sync process, photos/videos on the Camera Roll can and should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera. All photos/videos imported from the iPhone's Camera Roll and from any other digital camera along with all other photos on your computer's hard drive should be included with your computer's backup along with all other important data. Apple makes maintaining a backup easy or much easier with Time Machine. -

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:

If you previously synced to the computer then you may be able to recovery use of the iPod without erasing the iPod by following the instructions here:

I just changed phones and data plans and was told that I would NOT a data usage alert again. I just got one. What's up with that?
Do you have Wifi at home? Do you do a lot of social media, internet surfing, video etc? Go to settings/data usage/ and scroll up to see what is consuming your data. You can restrict any of these apps from data usage by selecting one, then scrolling up and checking "restrict background data" for each app you wish to limit. Ones restricted will still function on wifi if available. Data can be restored to any app by unchecking a checked box. That's a start.
I keep my S5's data turned off unless I have a particula need when not near wifi. This month I'm near mid way through my billing period and have consumed around 29MB. Not as much fun for sure but much easier on the wallet. Caution, public wifi is likely not a secure connection.
You also can set alert and limit levels for data use by your phone on the Data Usage screen of your phone. -
Using Pages on my iPad, I save to iTunes to share it with my iMac. After download I cannot find the documents in my iMac. Not in Pages, not in iTunes, so where do they go?
Until Apple updates the desktop versions of the iWork apps you have to use iCloud.com in a web browser or iTunes to sync files. You could also try e-mail or DropBox.

i did have my most visited sites in the pin ups yet for some reason or other not sure why but not when i open a new tab all there is, is one big blank white page. Not a toggle switch not even blank pin up thumb nails. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you

My macbook pro (2010 13inch) is really laggy when I'm using apps like iTunes and safari. the arrow on the screen seems to not respond and is laggy and when viewing videos it can be really laggy. I just want to know if it was a problem i could fix, thanks.
You might start with:
Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder. Select All Processes from the Processes dropdown menu. Click twice on the CPU% column header to display in descending order. If you find a process using a large amount of CPU time, then select the process and click on the Quit icon in the toolbar. Click on the Force Quit button to kill the process. See if that helps. Be sure to note the name of the runaway process so you can track down the cause of the problem.
If the above reveals nothing helpful, then create a new user account. Log out of your account and log into the new account. Do the problems cease? -

Is there any way to hook up the remote app from my iphone to my Apple TV if I lost the remote? I'm not sure is sharing was turned on before I lost it but I am sure I'm hooked up to the right wifi.
