HT201328 Carrier says they don't have authorization to unlock my iPhone

I live in canada and my current carrier is bell but they say they do not have authorization to unlock iPhones. What should I do? The reason I'm asking is because I know on apples site it says to contact your carrier to unlock the phone.
Thanks in advance!
      -Andy Brown

Its correct that Bell do not offer unlocking. See: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1937
If that is their corporate policy there's nothing you can do about it.
The decision whether to unlock or not is entirely up to the carrier. Apple can do nothing if the carrier won't authorize the unlock.

I tried to send a text message to a non apple device on my iPad. Will not let has name highlighted in pink with red ! Saying they don't have iMessage setup which they can't what do I do to send the a message?

Imessage falls back to SMS when it tries to send messages to non apple devices. That's because iMessage is an iOS only feature. Since your ipad doesn't have a phone number, it won't send it out to a non iOS device.
You would have to download a third party app that allows you to send text messages over data (I do believe some messangers let you do that as well as skype?)

My computer is a dinasaur so in Itunes I download my music then put on my ipod and then delete it.
Now I only have 44 songs to put on my ipod and its telling me I'm not authorized?  What does this mean and how do I fix it without a restore to my ipod?

  • ITunes says I don't have enough space on my iPhone when I do.

Hi, I am not able to sync my iPhone with new tracks, apps, etc. The bar along the bottom says I have 3.8 GB free, but it skips the adding content. And then tells me I'm 4.92 GB over capacity. I have no idea what's causing it and how to resolve it, I've looked all over the web the last few days, and haven't found anything.. So I would be extremely greatful if someone were to help me.
    Thanks, Elliot

I had the same problem remove all the music you have on your iphone now and then put it all back on. Im not sure why but when you sync its not starting over its just adding too even if you are duplicating songs

Contact your carrier & have them reset your Voicemail. Most carriers require such, so after they reset it, just set it up again.

  • I'm stuck on the activation screen because it says I don't have a valid sim

hi I recently got a iPhone 5s, I'm suck on the activation screen and can't get past it because it says I don't have a valid sim. I'm not sure what sim im on but I brought it unlocked and put a sim in it and it isn't working. Also how do I tell if the sim isn't the right one, because when I put it in i comes up with the normal circles that show you are connected. I have not idea what iOS im on cause i can't check.

Softbank is a Japanese carrier. They do not unlock phones, but if you can use it with a Softbank SIM that should work. There are fake iPhones, but you can easily check; just enter its serial number here: Apple - Support - Check Your Service and Support Coverage

I installed a new SSD drive in my computer and now Adobe Creative Suite Web Premium says I don't have a license. I have license. It was very expensive. I am disabled now, and I need this software working. Adobe Acrobat has been a primary tool for accommodating memory problems after a brain injury. (A car ran me down while I was out getting exercise.) I installed the SSD because I needed my management of PDF files to run faster. I called tech support for help when the software first stopped working, but they needed me to give them a number from my original disks. Because of my disability, I've been having someone come in to clean, and the shelves where I kept my software packages were cleared. I've been hunting for them ever since, but I can't look for them myself for very long at a time. Today I finally found them, but now I can't seem to contact tech support. What happened? I don't want to delete my old files because I need the setup to remain unchanged, because I don't do well with changes. I think all I should need is to have someone located the license file on drive E: and move it to wherever it is needed on the SSD drive, but I don't know what to look for.

Tech support is not normally available on weekends.  You should contact them as soon as the weekend passes and pick up where you left off with them.

I cannot sync my iphone.  My computer gives me a message that says, "I don't have enough access privileges".  After an internet search, one site said that I need to delete my photo cache.  How do I resolve this, and is it wise to sync?

    Hey sameyrs2,
Thanks for the question. Based on what you stated, it seems like you are getting a message when trying to backup to iCloud. I would recommend that you read these articles, they may be helpful in troubleshooting your issue.

  • I can't backup my iPhone 5. It says I don't have enough storage. So I've deleted like 6-7 apps and its still says I don't have enough storage. And it also says the say thing when I want to buy new apps or music. What can I do?

I can't backup my iPhone 5. It says I don't have enough storage. So I've deleted like 6-7 apps and its still says I don't have enough storage. And it also says the same thing when I want to buy new apps or music. Also my messages won't send; I have to turn my phone off and resend then just to they can send. I can't even take any pictures because it says I have no storage.(I currently have 1,658 photos and 72 videos by the way.) What can I do? I just my phone in late December. I didn't think it would act up this bad before I even had it for a year. Please help.

Your phone needs more storage, buying storage on iCloud.com doesn't change that.
Delete some of the stuff off of your phone, it's full.

  • Time capsule backups say I don't have access privileges

I just reinstalled operating system on my macbook pro. Went to Time Capsule and found that all of my documents were not available to restore. Applications seem to be fine, but I went into the backups and found the documents with little red circles (with minus signs) in the bottom. When I click on them, it says I do not have sufficient access privileges. I have brought the files in using the gear in Leapord to restore them... putting them on my desktop, but they still appear with the little red circle and it still says I don't have access privileges. Is there any way to access the files? Pretty desperate here... it's all my work and I thought the were backed up by my time capsule.

Wow. That sure is a lot of geek for an average user. Since posting my original question, I did poke around (in a terminal window) and found that pesky invisible file. I didn't think of changing permissions, I simply moved it to a different, temporary location. Time Machine worked after that, and it created a new invisible file of the same name, so I just deleted the original file that I'd moved.
I have another followup question so stay tuned to this topic!

I can't Install my updates on my mac book , it starts to install and a box pops up saying i don't have permission to install

So, then, after you click the Install button  you receive the permissions error dialog? Again, are you logged into an Admin account?
    Have you tried:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Lion/Mountain Lion
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
Also, please check the settings on your startup drive. Select it. Press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window, then open the bottom-most panel and check the settings. They should look like this:

And maybe you don't talk to too many people but I've been on many forums on different websites where people have had similar problems and a lot of people in the store were having battery problems where they were draining too fast. What I learned is that all the people who did not download the updates are good. There phone is working the same. The people who have, they're having battery problems
I have downloaded every update and my battery life is better than any previous iPhone I have ever owned. I see posts from hundreds of people every day, and this is not a commonly reported problem. While there are a few random reports of battery problems, it is no more than I have seen for any other model or any other version of iOS in almost 8 years. Usually problems of rapid battery drain can be traced to bad apps (FaceBook is the worst offender) or corrupt data being synced from iCloud or other sources (gmail, Windows Live, Yahoo, etc).
The simple test is to restore the phone as New. Do not create any email accounts. Do not install any apps. Do not enable FaceTime or iMessage. Do not enable Twitter or any other social networking app. Use it for a day and check the battery usage. You will find that it is working well.
And also see this: http://www.overthought.org/blog/2014/the-ultimate-guide-to-solving-ios-battery-d rain. It is the best treatise I have seen on the subject of battery usage.
