HT201472 Lost iPhone problems

My phone is lost and has been offline. I have it set on lost mode. But if I report it lost to my carrier and get a new one, will I still be able to track my lost one as well? That way if it ever gets turned on I will be able to locate it?

As long as the old one connects to some network (either 3G or WiFi) you will be able to track it as long as it is in Lost Mode and you don't hit "Erase iPhone" in iCloud.com or the Find My iPhone App.
Also, as long as it is in Lost Mode, whoever has it just has an expensive brick... even Apple will not override Lost Mode to reactivate an Activation Locked iPhone.
So unless whoever has it manages to jailbreak iOS 7 without activating the iPhone first (and without bricking it in the process), they effectively have a very expensive paperweight.

  • HT201472 lost iphone 5

    I lost my iPhone 5 sometime ago - 25 Nov 2014
Unfortunately the police was of no help.
I had to erase my data - so I did what any sane person would do... delete data the moment it was activated.
It did get activated and data deleted.
But I did not see its last location - as data was deleted.
Kinda silly really cos now I do not know who took it.
I have the imei no but no one can help track it down nor can any service provider help trace the phone.
I left a message to have it returned to the police station if found.
I believe that it is now the property of some unconscionable person.
It makes me mad and helpless.  Is there really nothing I can do?

Did you have Find My iPhone enabled? If so, the phone is nothing more than a paperweight to the person that took it. There is no other way to track it if its location doesn't show up on icloud.com.

  • Lost iPhone Problem

I lost my iPhone about two weeks ago and I have it under the same Apple ID and Icloud account as my iPad Mini but when I look at the Find My iPhone app only my iPad mini comes up under "all device", so my real question is what should I do from here?

Apple should add a "Call ICE" (In Case of Emergency) button on Lock screen. This could be configured to call any number you designate.

This is a user-supported forum and Apple won't see your suggestion here. You can send feedback at http://www.apple.com/feedback/

  • HT201472 found a lost iPhone that is locked with a passcode

Found a lost iPhone that is locked with a passcode, how do I find the owner?

You probably will not be able to find the owner. Turn it into the police.

  • I have found a lost iPhone 4--how do I get it back to the owner?

    Hello Folks,
I've found a lost iPhone 4, along with a charger and some other personal effects (none of which are identifying, unfortunately).
Unfortunately, the phone ("Alyssa's Phone) was locked.  No problem, call up the service provider (Telus) with the SIM card number.  Unactivated and thus unregistered SIM card.
Okay, let's use the IMEI or serial number off the back of the SIM tray--not registered with Telus, either.
Okay, let's phone up Apple technical support: serial number no longer eligible for support!
Clearly, Apple has had some dealing with the phone--can they get in touch with the owner and let them know where they can pick up the phone?

Try to connect the MBP to your computer with Firewire-Target Disk Mode
    follow instructions here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1661
and try to find out the owners identity.
it won't work if "open firmware password" is enabled on the MBP.
Or if everything is FileVault encrypted.
It's possible it won't work without a power brick for the MBP, perhaps you can borrow one ?
You could also take out the Harddisk, and pop it in an external enclosure, but that's more effort.

  • Can I report my lost iPhone's SN or IMEI to SP or Apple?

Can I report my lost iPhone's SN or IMEI to SP or Apple to deactivate all services?
So whenever someone pick up my lost phone and connect it to itune or register it on Apple, Apple will know this is a lost phone.
And do not proceed any action on the phone.

haha.... your joking right? You think they would actually do that? NOOOOO its not possible to do what your are saying... you should have updated your iPhone and registered it to have Mobileme which would in turn give you the ability to use the "FIND MY iPhone" application. Where you could find your phone, lock it, etc... it's too late now. You've already lost it.... you have to sign into the phone with your mobile me account and activate the find my iphone with mobile me.... Your just too late...
I don't mean to be blunt . But its always easier to do things when you have a system in place. Apple provides a way for people to locate, lock, send a message to the device, and even remote wipe it if need be. The only problem is that you cannot activate it now because you had to have already activated it before you lost your iPhone. When you get your new iPhone you can be sure that the first app you install will be the Find my iPhone app and mobileme until iCloud is fully released. Your only option will be to call your carrier and report it as stolen but you can bet that they will not locate it due to privacy issues. Itunes cannot block the Device ID, think about how many ex gf's or bf's that could simply say someone stole their idevice when it in fact was just the scorned lover's way of getting back at them.... and apple shuts the device off.. not cool!! So yeah again, I hate to be the one to tell you but the only way to track it would have been mobile me.

  • Found a lost iphone 4s

Ok Apple so I found a lost iphone 4s at wallmart so 2 weeks earlier I decided to take it to my local police station!!! And gave it to the Police so the police contacted the owner and the owner did not want the phone back ha lol how strange! So the police told me I could have it back But I have a big problem here tho...the iphone is locked threw the icloud activation threw the owners gmail... so I called the police station and asked i if i could have the owners contact the police did not insist.they said No! Apple if I take the iphone to my local apple store can they unlock the iphone 4s activate it or flash it etc.
    <Email Edited by Host>

The phone appears to have had more than one 'owner' and the police do not seem inclined to pursue the matter.  I believe only Apple security can formally unlock the phone and under these circumstances I doubt they would.  There could be all sorts of private detail within.

  • Why can't i view on iCloud what is on my lost iPhones? i can see how much GB's they are taking up but can't click on the data to see what it is..

Why can't I view my icloud backups on a new apple device using the same icloud id? Unluckily I lost 4 iphones in 2 yrs. all had same icloud acct on them, so when i log on to locate my current iphone on my macbook or on new iphone, it shows a list of all the lost iphones and their data take up.
When i click on settings on my ios> go to icloud > storage & backup> manage storage:
LOST IPHONE 1- 4.5 GB  DOCUMENTS & DATA : it shows PREVIEW 1.2 MB PAGES1.6 MB TEXT EDIT91.6 KB PHOTOS 3.2 GB
LOST IPHONE 2- 3.2 GB  DOCUMENTS & DATA: it shows same thing just different gb's mb's kb's
    LOST IPHONE 3- etc.......
but you can't click on those documents & data to show what exactly they are so you can move them or save and delete. If I go into icloud there's nothing there from that long ago. is that data deleted? if i were to get that certain iphone back and turn it on would the pics, docs still be in icloud? it says all that room in my icloud is still taken up so where can i view it?? anyone know??
                            THANK YOU!

If you haven't already, you could force-quit Quicktime by using the menu option from the desktop (finder) and choose Quicktime.
Not sure what you have frozen on the screen, be it a failed movie, or some unusual screen shot. If you can find by date (created) you may be able to look for .mov or quicktime suffix name or other video file content to delete it.
And you may have to restart your computer and perhaps run repair disk permissions from Disk Utility's first aid on the hard disk drive in your computer.
Not sure if all that would help now, but it is something a few days late...!
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • I got text messages from iCloudreport regarding my lost iphone , are they scams?

I lost my iphone two month ago and I got a lot of emails from "Find my iphone" saying that my phone has been found in at least three other different countries. Today I received a text message from a unknown phone number saying that: "Find my iphone service: your iphone 6 64Gb Gray lost/stolen has been found. You can reclaim it now at: https://icloudreport.com/?imk=3544070.....(8 more numbers)...., Apple Inc. " I clicked the link, it led me to this address"http://icloudreport.com" it looks the same as icloud home page. I feel this is suspicious because I really did not put any hope on my lost iphone been found. Is this a scam?
I then rechecked the emails that I received in the past and I found that some early emails I received are from "[email protected]". The link in this email direct me to "losticloud.com"  while the most recent emails are from "[email protected]" and the link in this email direct me to "icloudreport.com" (which is the same as that in the text message). Is any of the email I got is scam? I remembered I did login through the emails so I'm a little worried.

It's all fake. If you had set up 'Find My iPhone' you could find the phone yourself, provided it's on, not wiped, and able to connect to a network. If you didn't set it up you can't locate the phone and neither can anyone else. The emails are phishing, trying to con you into giving away your login.

  • I got an old/lost iPhone. How do I reboot the phone and tie it to my own apple-id/iCloud?

I lost my phone, but luckily I got an old/lost iphone from my work. It had been in a box with forgotten stuff for more than 6 months, so everybody assumed that the previous owner wouldn't care to get it back (they even called the number shown on the screen, but gave up since that number doesn't exist anuymore).
Now I have a phone which is linked to an old apple id, and I was wondering, if there is a way to reboot the phone and link it to my own apple id?
It has been reset to some sort of start-up mode, where you can activate the iPhone, but it is linked to the old apple id (the unknown, previous owner's) and since I do not have the password nor the e-mail for this old apple id, I cannot figure out how to link the iphone to my own apple id and finally get it activated.

The Apple ID and Password that was Originally used to Activate the iDevice is required
If you do not have that information you will not be able to use the Device.

  • HT4623 Is there any way to find a lost iPhone once the phone's battery has expired?

I have lost my iPhone(4)and the battery is dead. I have the "locate device application", however, I know the battery is dead. To my knowledge, once the battery has expired, it cannot be retrieved using the "lost device/find my device" application.?? Is this correct? If so, is there another way to find this lost iPhone?

Thanks for taking the time to respond!!
I didn't think so, but was hoping this was a time, that someone knew something that I didn't.
