You need to look for your itunes library under Computers and select it, then music.
Music column is for web based content not local content, just to confuse everyone.

You can install it on your iOS device (iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch) either by redownloading it directly on the device via the Purchased tab in the App Store app on it, or by connecting the device to your computer's iTunes and syncing it to it.

Yup, the new itunes is worthless unless every song you have is in your itunes library as well. (unless you buy every song from itunes this is simply impossible) Apparently Apple threw away the feature in an effort to force everyone to purchase their media through itunes. This is probably the worst idea about the new Itunes, the only way to go back is to restore your computer to a time before you downloaded the new version, otherwise wait and hope the next version in a year or so will have it.

What kind of Internet connection(s) do you have available?
If you have an iTunes account and purchased the music there, you can just make sure the new MacBook is using the same account as the phone and sync, or look at the Purchased list on the left side in iTunes on the Mac. You should see your past purchases there and they will download and play as needed.
If your music isn't iTunes purchased, I don't know how to do it... someone will.

How do use home sharing to import items from other iTunes library?
Okay - the help section in iTunes is not helpful. I am trying to import items from my girlfriend's library and vice versa. We have home sharing turned on. I can see her library and she can see mine. According to the HELP section, I should be able to choose a cateogry i.e. MUSIC. Then there is supposed to be a "Show" menu at the bottom of the iTunes window and I should choose "items not in my library" then select the items I want to import and click import.
PROBLEM: I can choose a category but there is no SHOW Menu at the bottom of the iTunes window which allows me to select items and import them into my library.
Suggestions???Well I guess I am not sure now that you asked.
In ITunes - under "Preferences" I have Sharing turned on so it says sharing my library on local network.

In ITunes - under "File" I have Home Sharing turned on.

Try the following steps:
1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:

If you have an email that is a exchange/corporate account, their policies may force your account to have a passcode. I had a phone without a lock code, added the email account, and it forced me to put a lock code on the phone. And the option to remove code disappeared. When I removed the email account, the option to remove the passcode reappeared.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.
If you previously synced to the computer then you may be able to recover use of the iPod without erasing the iPod by following the instructions here:

Since I have the newest version of itunes, I can't back up like normally. The only way is to considilate files and then put them on an external drive which I don't have. Are there any other options? If I can't back up to a disc like I used to, can I instead just keep everything on my ipod and then if I have to get a new computer or something just download all my songs from the ipod to my new computer's itunes? Will that work? Will I still be able to keep all my songs that way?
I'm going to assume the consolidating files does not work due to hard drive space limitations.
Since you're moving to Windows 7, have you tried using the Windows files and settings transfer utility? That will move everything for you to the same location on the new computer, it also allows some control over what actually gets moved.
Alternatively, if you know the location of all of the media, it can be manually moved by copying it from the old computer to the new computer in the same location.
Also, using the Apple article on moving the library, take a slight twist on what it says. Move the iTunes library to the external drive, update the settings in iTunes to reflect the library being on the external drive, then consolodate it.
The options are endless for moving the library... it simply takes a little effort to make it happen and possibly a twist on existing "standard" methods depending on your unique situation. -
I have the newest version of iTunes and none of that works!!! I don't know where the Advanced Menu is. And I don't think you can select a song anymore. I need to make WAV Files to put them on Windows Media Player so i can download music on my Samsung Intensity 2.

I have the newest version of itunes 11.1.3.8. I have uploaded a CD into my itunes library. I would like to add one song only to my iphone. I have created playlists on my iphone and each time I sync all of my iphone playlists get erased and I have to recreated them. after the sixth time, I am very hesitant to do any kind of syncing. Is there a way to just move one song without syncing? I have read some posts that talk about this but have not been able to do it. You are probably running OS 10.4 or 10.5 on a PPC Mac. No version of iTunes higher than 10.6.3 is available for these older Macs. I have the same problem, and while I can still use the PPC to sync my iPod, it can't be used to sync an iPhone 4 or higher. The only solution, as I discovered after upgrading to the iPhone 4, is to buy a newer Mac. I was able to get a 2006 MacBook running Lion for under $300, and that has been a lifesaver.
