You can't convert it yourself. What does the audiobook's description page in the store say. does it say that it's in English in German ? You can try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support : http://reportaproblem.apple.com

    It should be in the iPad's Music app (iTunes on an iPad it just the store for buying/downloading content, and iBooks is for ibooks, PDFs, epubs i.e. books for reading) ? When you have audiobooks on an iPad you will get an Audiobooks option under the More button at the bottom of the Music app.
    Note that audiobooks are currently a one-time only download from the store (so they won't appear in the Purchased tab for re-downloading), so you may want to copy it to your computer's iTunes via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases so that you can take a backup copy of it - it should copy over to the Books part of your iTunes library.

    The "missing file" error happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout, or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
    Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
    If another application like Windows Media Player has moved/renamed the files then the chances are that subtle differences in naming strategies will make it hard to restore the media to the precise path that iTunes is expecting. In such cases, as long as the missing files can be found somewhere, you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes. See this post for an explanation of how it works.

    Now I wanted to listen to it on my iPhone so I proceeded to transfer the purchase and looked for the book in the purchased section of the store in the iTunes on my iPhone but it did not show up.
    Does anyone know why and how I can transfer the audio book purchased on my iPhone so I can listen while away from the desk?

    Can you find the audio book by using the Search feature on the iPod?
    Do you have the right boxes checked to sync the audio book to the iPod?
    iTunes: Syncing media content to iOS devices and iPod
    Note you have to check the boxes in Books pane for the iPod in iTunes to sync books in general and another box to sync Audio Books.

    It sounds like you have audiobooks on your computer you want to sync to your iPhone 5. You can do this in the Books tab in iTunes when you have your iPhone connected:
    iTunes 11 for Mac: Add iBooks and audiobooks to iPod, iPhone, or iPad
    Sync iBooks or audiobooks to your device
    Connect your device to your computer and select your device in iTunes. 
    Click the Books button.
    Do either or both of the following:
    Sync iBooks: Select Sync Books, then click “All books,” or click “Selected books” and select the iBooks you want to add. 
    Sync audiobooks: Select Sync Audiobooks, then click “All audiobooks,” or click “Selected audiobooks” and select the audiobooks you want to add. 
    Click Apply.

    You can.  Why do you think you cannot?
    If you purchased it on your ipad, then you would have to transfer it to your computer. File>Devices>Transfer Purchases.
    You can then listen to it on your computer.

    Audiobooks are a one-time only download from the store.     How are you trying to listen to it ? You shouldn't need to be online to listen to it, I don't for any of mine. If you've downloaded it directly on your iPad (or synced it from your computer) then it should be in the Music app (you will get an Audiobooks option under the More button in the Music app when you have audiobooks on it) - is that where you are trying to listen to it ?

    Audiobooks are currently a one-time only download from the store, so if you download it again then you will be charged - I believe that they are all supplied to Apple by audible.com, so I assume that it's them that are requiring the one-time only download.
    Is it still on the device that you downloaded it on (if it was on your iPhone then it should be in the Music app), or do you have a copy on your computer and/or on a backup ?     First, we need to know if the audiobook chapters are being treated by iTunes as music files or as audiobooks. If they are not audiobooks purchased from the iTunes store, they might be getting "shuffled". You will need to look at "File" - "Properties" (I think - I don't use iTunes under Windows - or right-click on the file and choose "properties") and look at the media type. If it is "Music", change it to "Audiobook". If this is not the problem, or does not fix anything, please post back.
    Actually, looking at your post again, a second thought occurs to me - assuming there are less than 100 chapters in the book, just renaming them with a leading zero on the first nine chapters might do it. A computer will alphabetically sort filenames in the order you quote (1, 10, 11, 12, 13, ... 2, 21, etc.) but a leading zero will fix that (01, 02, 03 ... 10, 11, 12)
