It is best to stop making all new apple IDs, as software is permanently tied to them, and you can't converge them. Make differnt ones if you plan to get divorced though....

Before you go through that trouble open About this Mac > More Info... > System Report > Audio and see if the system actually knows it has a microphone. Then you can look into Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup and see if the microphone is there, select it and make sure the sliders are set to full. Then in System Preferences look for Sound > Input and make sure it shows up there and the sliders are at least half way up. If none of that works do a

Unplug the computer's power cord and ALL peripherals.
Wait 15 seconds.
Attach the computers power cable.
Wait another 5 seconds and press the power button to turn on the computer.
It is the 5 second timing that initiates the reset.

if my iphone 5 has a problem within the first 30 days will apple replace it with a brand new one or will i get a refurbished model??
If it is replaced under warranty, it will be replaced with a unit from the "replacement stock", which either will be a refurb or new (no way to distinguish these) and the S/N will indicate a replacement unit.
The "30 day" rule varies from county to country, and applies only to returns, not replacement. -

I dont want to update to Lion because I will not be able to use my quicken software (I am aware of quicken essentials for mac) I am receiving emails that I am running out of time for my Mobile Me account and I am being encouraged to switch to iCloud. My question is if I switch to iCloud on my devices will I still be able to sync with my computer?No. You will need to upgrade to Lion to sync with your computer. You can use the web version of icloud but it is clunky and doesn't work as well.

I just bought an iMac. I was working on it and I had to leave it for 20 mins. When I came back, there was a prompt for user and password. I didn't have one. Does anyone know how to override or reset? I can't even get pass screen.

When you set up the new Mac and your new user account you must have created a password to the user account. That is the password for which the screen is asking. -
I just bought an iMac now running OSX 10.8.4. I have a G5 running OXS 10.5.8 - External HD connected to the G5 been using Time Machine to back up. Need to get my files, photos etc. but not applications etc. onto the iMac. How do I do it?

Not those whole folders, but their contents, maybe.
If the user account now on the Mac has read rights to the user account(s) on the backups, yes. If not, you may have to do some finagling.
Try the Browse Other Backup Disks option, per Time Machine - Frequently Asked Question #17. If you find an account that can open those folders, restore what you want to an alternate location (#16 in the FAQ).
If not try creating one or more accounts temporarily. -

Using the Mac with your iPad has nothing to do with the fact that the iPad is running slow. There could be any number of reasons why the iPad is now running slow.
Have you tried a reset on the iPad?
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. -

It should recognize it if they are both on the same Wifi network. Have you signed into the Wireless network on your iMac?
Also, you must go into the Printer and log the printer into the wireless network. If the printer was working wirelessly before, this may have already been done.
If that does not help, tell us the model of the HP Printer. -

Do you really mean an iMac2? If you do you're about 10 years too late in wanting to return it. I guess if you do have an iMac2 then it makes sense you posted on the iMac(PPC) forum since this one is for models at least 6 years old. -
MY wife has an Iphone 4 and I have a 5. To date we have used one apple account to manage music purchases/library. I updated ny phone to the new OS version and all her texting is showing up on my phone. I understand if i create an apple account for her I will not see her texts. Recently we bought a Mac and created a new apple account for her. How do I synched her phone with new apple account and get access to the music library under my account on the new MAC laptop before I update her phone to the new OS?
Going forward if I purchase music under my apple id and want her to have it on her device, how can I acheive that?You can continue to share an Apple ID for purchases.

Settings > iCloud > Delete Account (Keep on Phone if you want to transfer contacts, calendars, etc...) then sign in with her new ID
