You certainly can send a mass text message Flats164! But the iPhone natively allows you to message only 10 people at one time. There are third-party applications that can be downloaded through the App Store to allow for different messaging options too, but non that are supported directly through Verizon Wireless or Apple.

Okay Verizon, you finally convinced me to get a smartphone so I can text, etc. Now I find that only other Iphone users can get my text messages. This is very annoying. My family members are Verizon and other carriers, Iphone and Droid users but I find that only some can receive or send me messages. What is up with this?

That is because you are not sending texts, but iMessages. iMessage is an Apple proprietary messaging system which DOES NOT utilize SMS, but instead chooses to send messages counted against your data allowance. iMessage is ALSO only available to Apple phones.
Go into your settings > messages > make sure that the box is checked to send as SMS if iMessage is not available is checked. This way, when your iPhone cannot send an iMessage to a contact, it will send an SMS.
Personally, I think you should completely disable iMessage and only send SMS messages. With Verizon, most plans now include unlimited texting and an allowance for data. If you use iMessage, these messages will count against your data allowance where these same messages sent as SMS would not since you most likely have unlimited texting on your account.

IPhone can't send/receive photo texts from non-iPhone users

I've noticed a lot of other people with this same problem and so far nobody has a solution. I've tried resetting my iPhone 4 and was on the phone for an hour with AT&T last night to see if it was a problem on their end as someone else had mentioned. Nope. Basically, I can't receive any photos through text messaging (MMS) and I can't send any photos through text messaging with anyone who doesn't have an iphone. I used to be able to. Not anymore. Doesn't matter if I'm on wi-fi or cellular. I've checked to make sure I've got MMS on. I do. I've reset network settings, we've even switched radio towers to try that. Nothing.
Can someone help?

I'm with AT&T IOS 6 and have no issue with MMS.
if that link doesn't help, call AT&T back and talk to a supervisor, as messaging is carrier related. Also make sure you have MMS turned on.

I can't send or receive text from non-Iphone

This just started happening last week.

That's definitely strange, bigbadscharfy. We're here to help get all texts coming and going. Let's start w/ the basics! Have you checked under Settings>Messages> Is Send as SMS checked on? This can help send out messages as regular texts and not iMessages. Do you receive any error messages when the texts dont go out or receive?

I am not sure whether this is what you are looking ofr but you can set up groups in contacts using icloud.com
Log in to your cloud account on your computer and open contacts there.Click on the litte ribbon at the top that has the silhouettes of the people then the plust sign at the bottom and add the group and then it should sync to your phone if you have contacts on in settings/icloud. Once it is createed and you have added the poeple to the group then it should sync for you

Can I send and receive texts from my iphone 4?

I updated my Touchpad to webOS 3.0.4 and was able to sync my Touchpad and iphone 4 via bluetooth. I was able to set up the telephone calling part of the tether. What I am trying now to do is making the touchpad compatible with the phone for texting. I have read that it can now be done but nowhere can I find HOW to do it. Is it possible? If so, what do I need to do?

The answer is no, but not because of anything to do with the webOS. This feature uses a brand-new Bluetooth profile called MAP (Messaging Access Profile) and many devices have not implemented support for it yet. I took a quick look on the Apple support pages and found this article that lists the supported Bluetooth profiles. As you can see, MAP is not listed which means syncing SMS messages will not work on your iPhone.

How can i send a group text to more than 12people and save it so i can keep as a group for future texts

In order to group text all at once, you must go to "Settings" on your iPhone, go to "Messages" and just make sure the switch "Group Messaging" is turned "ON". Then in order to group message to 12 people, those 12 people must also have a carrier that could also support group messaging (or so I was told) or maybe those 12 people should have an iPhone too. I think this may help you just a little bit on how to text with 12 other people.

Nope, you will have to select each person individually, but up to a certain number of contacts. You can browse the app store and see if an app can help you out.

I am unable to delete whole texts from left-swipe. i click delete and they dissappear. But then i can't send or recieve texts. i reboot phone and deleted message reappear. i've synced, backup, everything. Help!

I have synced my phone with itunes, backed up, reboots after deleting the texts, they never vanish, i have even restored from itunes and restored from a backup that didn't include the texts after i deleted them.

actually better to reset your phone and reinstall the latest firmware again after that restore your back up it should be ok

I believe the root cause is IOS5.01. same problem on my iphone4s with IOS5.01. Now I have a expensive I-touch! wake up steve.............. I suggest you change your sim cark from 64k to 128k. or just waiting next generation IOS.

Yes, you can. I do it many, many times a day. If you're trying to send a message to someone who used to have an iPhone and who didn't disable iMessage before switching phones, they will need to unregister their number with iMessage:

You also need to have SMS enabled with your carrier to send messages to non-iPhones.
