    Trying to create an Apple ID so that a 13 year old can have her own account but I do not want it to have a credit card tied to it but when I try to activate an account with the teenager credentials it is asking for a credit card number and I even did research and one of the two articles I found is an Apple Support done in Sept 2014 shows that there should be an option that says None for payment but the account shows no "None" option.

    Went ahead and start a brand new email and do the free download route and then create the second Apple ID I mentioned at the beginning. Not a great solution… there needs to be instructions somewhere before hand.
    So the problem is resolved.

    Where are you located?
    Just go and buy an iTunes gift card at any store in your country.
    Then follow all the steps you did, but when it asks you for the credit card number, there shoujld be a GIFT CARD option which will let you load your account witht eh funds form the gift card without providing a credit/debit card #.

    you can use either a Music Card or a gift certificate to set up an account. (i used the gift certificate method.)
