Hi, I want to use my Capsule just as a back up via wireless. How do I set this up without connecting it with an ethernet cable to either a router or the iMac??
I misunderstood what Time Capsule is and had hoped for a wireless backup device that didn't have to be connected to the router.
The TC is a wireless backup device.. it does not need to be connected to the main router..
The problem is the computer.. not the TC.. the computer has only one wireless card.. if your current internet is by wireless.. then you must choose.. internet or backup.
But my other suggestion will work.. get a wireless USB stick compatible with Mac OS.. there are plenty and cheap.. since you are in the same room as the TC they will work fine.. plug it in and load the driver.. taint hard.
You should do the first backup by ethernet though.. wireless is too slow.. once you have that, you will do fine.
Search ebay for wireless n usb.. Mac compatible..

As you can see.. they are getting smaller and neater.
I have no idea if it works .. haven't tried one.. but I have used USB wireless stick on the Mac to overcome this issue.
You will need to set static IP .. not hard but you need to set specifics if you do buy one post again for the setup. -
VERY FRUSTRATED!!! Downloaded latest itunes on my PC, connected ipad 2, registered device. It says follow onscreen instructions. What instructions. When I turn on my ipad I get an itunes icon with an arrow and a connector cord. Can anyone help me???

You can use a single checkbox field and make it required. It will have to be checked otherwise the form cannot be submitted.

I have a linksys WRT54G router that we use as a base. I want to use Airplay using Airport Express and hook up my stereo to it. How can i set up my Airport express without a PC/laptop? I just downloaded Airport utility on my iphone and ipad,will that work? And one more thing about the setup, the linksys router shich acts as a base is in a different room as the airport express which i wanted to use for airplay. So I'm hoping to hook up the Airport express via wireless signal. If i can set it up, can someone pls help me out by posting detailed instructions. Thanks so much!
The first message that AirPort Utility will display during the auto setup will be that the Express will be confgured to "extend" the network. When AirPort Utility analyzes the network further, and sees that the Express cannot "extend" the 3rd party network, the next message will indicate that the Express is being configured to "join" the wireless network.
Once the Express is configured, if you later go into AirPort Utility to check the settings under the Wireless tab, you will see that the Wireless Mode is indeed "Join a wireless network". -

If you tried to pay for a purchase on your credit card and for some reason the money wasent in the bank at the time of purchase it will decline your card untill you put more money in the account to pay for the download it declined the first time.

Family sharing not allowing me to make purchases without using my husband's payment method
My Husband and I recently took the plunge and joined Family Sharing.
Having pretty hectic lives, we haven't worked it all out as yet - and today, I tried purchasing an App - and all of a sudden I am being required to use my husbands iTunes account and Payment Methods, rather than my own, which I have used for many years.
We did make my husband the organiser, however, I am on the account as an adult, and find this sudden change invasive and unacceptable. Nothing in the literature explaining family sharing says that the adult who is not the organiser, can no longer control their own purchases and purchase methods.
we love the idea of family sharing for photos, movies, apps, books etc .... However I do not want my purchases and subscription communications to go through to my husband. We are both busy, independent adults - and although we have nothing to hide from one another, what we each do should be communicated to and controlled by each of us.
I just called support, and they are telling me that there is nothing they can do about this ?

TIAYour purchases will be charged against the Organizer's charge card on file, but they will reside under the Apple ID that you are purchasing them under (so if later, you were to leave Family Sharing, they would be "owned" by your Apple ID). If you have a gift card on file for your Apple ID, it will take the funds from the gift card first before going to the Organizer's charge card, but the entire set-up of Family Sharing is one that is designed to charge all purchases against the Organizer's card on file.
How is the set-up invasive, exactly? Family Sharing is primarily designed for families, especially ones with small children. The FAQs and ad pages are very clear about the fact that the Organizer pay for all purchases:

ITunes says my payment method is invalid
When I try to validate my account (i.e add a card for purchases), I get an error that says my payment method is invalid.
The only payment option I get is Visa, Mastercard and American Express.
I have a Mastercard Debit card, I enter all the details and the security code correctly, and still says invalid.
