HT3819 how do i find homesharing on new itunes

cant find homesharing on new itunes i cant find any icons

On your Mac it is in the iTunes File Menu
File > HomeSharing > Turn On home sharing
Unless you activate it on another computer you will not see an icon for HomeSharing. Even if devices are linked to it they do not visibly show on your Mac. It should appear in the Left Hand Sidebar. View > Show Sidebar if you do not already have it switched on.
On your iDevices you can access the Home Sharing by going into Music and selecting the more option. Then Tap on Shared and select the library you want to share from

    Many thanks JEM24 for your help.  Ive just spent the best part of six hundred pounds on a new Sony Rx100m2 compact camera, so I have no interest in the Ipods camera at all really. I doubt Ill be watching many videos on it as Im very lucky in that I have a good Android tablet. Its more as a stock music player that Ill be buying the Ipod for, if indeed I do end up buying one. I dont like the idea of paying the exorbitant amount added for more memory space that Apple along with most other companies charge. In fact I read an article on this very subject just yesterday in the tech section of Flipboard. It stated in the article that in the case of the Iphone  the actual cost of each additional  gigabyte of storage  to Apple et al is something in the order of 60p.. This is certainly not reflected in the price us the customer has to pay at the till.. Its for this reason primarily that Apple in particular, because their products do not allow adding expandable memory of your own in the form of cheap to buy cards, that nobody in their right mind buys the 64gig etc Iphones..I am aware that we are discussing my potential purchase of an Ipod Touch here but you see my point. Many thanks again though for helping me.

  • How do I find out if Keep Itunes Media Folder Organized option is enabled programtically

    How do I find out if Keep Itunes Media Folder Organized option is enabled on Windows. My Java application needs to know this because it effects how it should interact with iTunes and last time I looked the api provided by the iTunes.dll doesnt provide this information.
    I have made some progress looking at iTunesPrefs.xml which stores preferences in a binary plist format and have mananged to extract the location of the iTunes xml file using a Java library called dd-plist
    public File getITunesXMLFile()
            System.getProperties().list(System.out);
            String homedir = System.getProperty("user.home");
            File prefsFile = new File(homedir,"AppData/Roaming/Apple Computer/iTunes/iTunesPrefs.xml");
            File xmlFile;
            try
                NSDictionary rootDict = (NSDictionary) PropertyListParser.parse(prefsFile);
                NSDictionary userPrefs = (NSDictionary) rootDict.objectForKey("User Preferences");
                if(userPrefs!=null)
                    NSData iTunesLocation = (NSData) userPrefs.objectForKey("iTunes Library XML Location:1");
                    if(iTunesLocation!=null)
                        String base64 = iTunesLocation.getBase64EncodedData();
                        String filepath = new String(Base64.decodeBase64(base64),"UTF-16LE");
                        xmlFile = new File(filepath);
                        System.out.println(filepath+":File Exists:"+xmlFile.exists());
                        if (xmlFile.exists())
                            return xmlFile;
            catch(Exception ex)
                ex.printStackTrace();
                //Use default then
                xmlFile = new File(homedir + "/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music Library.xml");
                if (xmlFile.exists())
                    return xmlFile;
            return null;
    However the Keep Itunes Media Folder Organized option appears to be stored in the Documents:132 key with other options and this library doesnt seem able to decode the daat into a  base64encoded value. I did think I could just compare differences between the file after enabling/disabling the option in iTunes, but the results are inconclusive - sometimes after chnaging the option the preferences file doesnt seem to change.
    Is there a known hack for this ?

    Thanks that certainly a possible workaround that I can see working but Im not that keen on using a users file as a test file, or adding a file myself that I have to keep deleting.
    The thing is I'm very close, I've found a library that can read the binary xml format to some degree, and managed to decode the Xml Library File sucessfullly (but I don't need to this as available as the in the COM lib anyway as itunes.getLibraryXMLPath())
    but I cannot decode this option whihc is lumped in with others, real shame they dont provide it via the COM lib.

    How do I find my IPhone in Itunes if not seen?
    (I can only see it as a camera)

    It IS a camera.
    Turn on the side bar in iTunes, if it is not already on by typing Cntrl + S.
    The iDevice should then display in the side bar.

    You don't need to worry about the folders.
    Your backup from iphone 5 will be completely seprate and your iphone 3gs backup would be safe as well.
    Yes you can sync both phones in itunes and even connect them at the same time to sync.
    Hope this solves your query

    How do I find out if my iTunes password is the same as my iCloud password?

    Hello jenny86753092008,
    Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! Your iTunes and iCloud passwords will always be the same unless you have multiple accounts with us. To check to see if you have multiple accounts, you can use this handy Apple ID tool:
    Apple - My Apple ID
    https://iforgot.apple.com/appleid
    You can also contact us for assistance to see if you have multiple Apple ID accounts:
    If you forgot your Apple ID password - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201487
    Make sure that you’re entering the correct Apple ID. In most cases, your Apple ID is also the primary email address of your Apple ID account. If these steps didn't help you change your password, contact Apple Support.
    Cheers,
    Matt M.

  • Have iTunes version 10 .3 but do not understand cloud in iTunes 11.03 can someone explain it and also how do you find duplicates in new version and will the new version sync with my iPod Classic which I have had for 4 years

    I have iTunes version 10.03 which I love but my iPad Apple mini has iOS 7 but I don't understand the new iTunes what is the cloud shown next to the music and how can I find duplicates can anyone help me navigate the new iTunes and will the new version sync with my iPod Classic which is 4 years old

    The main differences between iTunes 11 and earlier versions are the loss of coverflow and ability to have multiple windows open.
    In Windows, you can restore much of the look & feel of iTunes 10.7 with these shortcuts:
    ALT to temporarily display the menu bar
    CTRL+B to show or hide the menu bar
    CTRL+S to show or hide the sidebar
    CTRL+/ to show or hide the status bar (won't hide for me on Win XP)
    Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour
    Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit > Preferences > Store and untick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (and may let iTunes start up more quickly)
    If you don't like having different coloured background & text in the Album (Grid) view use Edit > Preferences > General and untick Use custom colours for open albums, movies, etc.
    With iTunes 11.0.3 and later you can enable artwork in the Songs view from View > Show View Options (CTRL+J) making it more like the old Album List view
    View > Show View Options (CTRL+J) also contains options to change the sorting of grid based views
    The cloud icons give you access to stream or download any qualifying past purchases that you don't currently have downloaded to the library.
    Regarding duplicates, things haven't really changed. Apple's official advice is here... HT2905 - How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls.
    Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created.  If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin. Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
    (If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed)
    Yes, iTunes 11 will support your iPod classic.

  • How do you find out about new VoD videos

    Quick question for FiOS TV users - how do you (personally) find out about new on-demand videos?
    Do you rely on the Spotlight email, or the trailers playing in the VoD store-front, or mail inserts etc? Keen to hear what everyone thinks works best!
    Thanks,
    Rich

  • How can I find out the new row.

    I use below coding to create a new row,
    row =vo.createRow();
    vo.insertRow(row);
    row.setNewRowState(Row.STATUS_INITIALIZED);
    My question is how I can find out it later?
    thx.

    If you have just inserted one row, then getCurrentRow should work.
    in case you have inserted multiple rows after doing a setattribute, or setting the PK values in EOImpl, then you would need to loop through the VO and find the ro that matches the values using getAttribue method.
    Thanks
