HT4060 What's best for maximizing the life span of the battery, to run out the battery before charging it again or to charge it before it drains out completely?

I usually charge my iPad after all the battery drains out but someone told me it damage the software so I wanna know if draining out the full battery is good or not. Thank you.

Lithium based batteries as in the iPad do not respond well to repeated draining.

I have an ENVY TouchSmart. What is the best glass cleaner and soft cloth to clean finger prints off of the screen?

To help you with the right information,
It is recommended to use a lint free/microfible cloth to clean the screen. Before proceeding to cleaning, request you to turn of the product and then move the cloth in small circles. IF you have any dust that cannot be removed through microfible cloth, then use a cotton cloth and slightly dampen it and move your hand in small circles ove rthe cleaning surface.

That is the "Move" the email icon. Tap on that icon and you can move the email to any box or folder that is in black type on the left side of the window - under the Mailboxes heading. If the type is in grey on the left side - that box or folder is not an option that you can use.

  • What's best for the battery?

Have a new HP311.  I want to know what is the best treatment for the battery.  Should I just leave it in the  machine while I am using it off the mains power or should I remove it while running on mains or should I charge it up and use the machine off battery and then recharge.  I'm new to this.

It is a matter of opinion as far as removing it or leaving it in. If you leave the battery in and plug it in and unplug it frequently the capacitors could read incorrectly and think that the battery is charged to 100% when it is not. This is only a temp issue. Calibrating the battery will resolve this. If you leave the battery out of the machine it could get lost, or give your notebook more spaces to get dust in it. Personally I always advise to leave batterys in for this reason. Charles informed you to leave it out which is not incorrect either. The notebook will run a bit faster on ac power and your graphics performance will be increased(with battery in or without) and you should not run into the memory issue. It is a matter of choice. You can run a battery check in the Total Care advisor and if it needs calibration because you leave it in often and it should link you to the steps if needed.

Is it better to charge the battery fully and let it empty completely, or charge it again befor it is empty ?

NEVER EVER empty it.       Ever.   Nothing will destroy a lithium quicker.
General consideration of your MacBook battery
Contrary to popular myths about notebook batteries, there is protection circuitry in your Macbook and therefore you cannot ‘overcharge’ your notebook when plugged in and already fully charged.
However if you do not plan on using your notebook for several hours, turn it off (plugged in or otherwise), since you do not want your Macbook ‘both always plugged in and in sleep mode’.
Do not perform “battery calibration” on your current Macbook. There is no calibration of current Apple portable Macbooks with built-in batteries.
A lot of battery experts call the use of Lithium-Ion cells the "80% Rule", meaning use 80% of the full charge or so, then recharge them for longer overall life. The main quantified damage done in the use of Lithium Ion batteries are instances where the internal notebook battery is “often drained very low”, this is bad general use of your notebook battery.
All batteries in any device are a consumable meant to be replaced eventually after much time, even under perfect use conditions.
If the massive amount of data that exists on lithium batteries were to be condensed into a simplex, helpful, and memorable bit of information it would be:
    1. While realistically a bit impractical during normal everyday use, a lithium battery's longevity and its chemistry's health is most happy swinging back and forth between 20% and 85% charge roughly.
    2. Do not purposefully drain your battery very low (10% and less), and do not keep them charged often or always high (100%).
    3. Lithium batteries do not like the following:
A: Deep discharges, as meaning roughly 10% or less. Avoid this in all instances if you can. This is hard on your battery.
B: Rapid discharges as referring to energy intensive gaming on battery on a frequent basis (in which case while gaming, if possible, do same on power rather than battery).
C: Constant inflation, as meaning always or most often on charge, and certainly not both in sleep mode and on charge always or often.

  • What's best for the battery: recharge each day or only every second day

    Hi.
I can go two days on the battery of the Xperia Z1 Compact. How do I make sure the battery lasts the longest: By charging every day at about 50 percent battery, or by charging every second day at less than 10 percent battery, thus reducing the number of charge cycles the battery gets?

  • Adobe reader does not work, what is best for viewing pdfs?

While using Safari, I keep encountering a message that in order to view a .pdf, I need to download Adobe Reader, accept the end user agreement, then relaunch.  I have tried to do this many times and keep getting the above message. What program is best for viewing pdfs using Safari on an iMac

    Back up all data.
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, there should be a setting in its preferences such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected. Otherwise do as follows.
Triple-click the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • What settings best for screen reading & min/no header/footer?

I prepare documents for reading online on web sites.  How can I create pages that scroll smoothly and contain maximum text and other features on the page with minimum wasted white space.  These documents are never intended to print anywhere - in fact want to discourage any such attempt.  What settings are best for this in Adobe?

This really has nothing to do with Acrobat, but is a general question about reading information on a screen. There is no easy answer since people have monitors of different sizes and keep the monitors at different resolutions. I have no problem with discussing this here, but you might get a better response in the Design or Web Design forums. As a first step in the discussion, you might try to figure our what size monitor you want to target.

  • What's best for my battery.

I use my macbook alot, like 8 hours a day. So I was wondering what would be the best for my battery.
Should I always connect it to the adapter. Or should I use it on the batterypower and charge it when its underneath 20%.
    Thanks in advance.

The consensus here seems to be: (1) that it's quite ok to leave it plugged in; (2)  It is good to use the battery occasionally, per
    Apple - Batteries - Notebooks
    (3) It is not good to run your battery all the way down, or even close to that.
Following these guidelines I have a battery which is 15 months old, with 108 cycles and currently reads between 98-100% health.

  • HT4060 Is it best to allow the battery in my iPad to discharge fully before charging or no.??

Is it best to allow the battery in my iPad to discharge fully before charging or no.??

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • What is best for my macbook pro... turn off, sleep,or leave it on?

i know that u can leave it on for a couple of days nd it will b fine, but i would just like to know if its best to turn it off during the night.i dont mind that i have to wait for it to turn on,i just wanna do the best for my macbook pro.

Some of LeafsMac's points make sense.
Letting the battery completely die is not good.  Always plugged in, even asleep, it can die if power is off long enough.  But good planning can get around that.
Also, it does need to run on battery once a month at least, down to 40%.  Then recharge back on A/C plug.
Interesting note about MBPs ...  Even on charger the battery will lose slowly battery charge from 100% to 95%, then recharge to 100% all by itself.  That is to exercise the battery a little bit and save "recharge circuit" usage.  Nothng to worry about.

  • What monitor best works with the MAC Pro

I'm thinking of buying a MAC PRO. What Monitor best works with a MAC Pro?

Whatever Monitor you like, exclusively. There are adapters available for everything.
Analog VGA is not a good idea. It's a Digital world. But it can be done if you want.
A TV set is not a Monitor. TV sets are for moving pictures, and may do badly with stable pictures, fine lines, parallel lines, smooth-edged text, and adjacent patches of bright colors.
Wider than 1920 needs special attention to details.

  • What PDA best for iSync?

I'm going to ditch my old Treo600 and switch carriers to probably cingular because they have great coverage in my part of the country. Any suggestions?

Lets be brutally honest here, the Palm OS is done for in the medium term. I have moved over to a Nokia e61 running Series 60 3rd edition of Symbian. Nokia are tardy at supporting the Mac, but there are some very good people in Germany called Nova Media (www.novamedia.de) who do some first class conduits which I would recommend.
If you want to go down the Windows route, Mark/Space has support for Windows Mobile devices. A lot of people like their conduit software. I had big issues getting it to work with my previous Treo 650; so you pay your money and take your chance.
In addition, Apple natively supports a good number of devices that provide PDA functionality natively.
