HT4061 My phone is stuck in recovery mode and I have very important pictures that are not backed up. How can I fix this
My iphone 5s became stuck in recovery mode while I was trying to backup to icloud. How can I get it off of recovery to save my photos? It wants me to restore in itunes but I'm afraid I will lose my photos.
IF your phone is in recovery mode, then there is no data on it.
If you didn't import your pics or have photos stream enabled or have a previous back up, then sorry your pics are gone.

i tried updating my iphone 4s to the ios 7 but it said error with the firmware now my phone is stuck in recovery mode and i have no idea how to fix it any suggestions??
Try Restoring it 3 times in a row and see if that works.
If not that error can indicate one of two things: Your iPhone was at one time jailbroken, had the iOS version rolled back, or ran an unauthorized beta and if none of those things are true it is a hardware error. -

I attempted to update to iOS 8 and now my phone is stuck in recovery mode, and iTunes will only let me restore to factory settings. My question: Can I restore from iTunes backup after restoring to factory settings?
Hi, kformagg
I would say yes. I once had the same problem (iPhone 5, IOS 7) and first restored to factory settings and after that from iCloud backup.
It worked very well. -
Can anyone help me with my phone being stuck in recovery mode? I have looked all over the internet and have had no success. I have not tried to restore it with Itunes, because my data is not backed up and I don't want to lose it. Tinyumbrella would not work and the apple support website is completely useless!
Thanks, I figured that out, so I went ahead and restored it, which also didn't work! It gave me an error 3194, which I also can't figure out.

Many of my recently uploaded photos are horizontal when they should be vertical, and vice versa. I've corrected all these on my laptop but in my iPad and i Phone photo streams they are still mixed. How can I fix this? Thanks.
Add the corrected ones to your PS - PS contains only what was added to it - changes made are not applied to the PS - you have to re add the updated photos

My ipod is stuck in permanent shuffle. It won't play albums or my playlists in the order that they were created. How can I fix this?
Do yo have Shuffle turned on?
- On the Now Playing screen on the right hand side below the scrubber bar are crossed arrows. That is the Shuffle control. Tap it until it is white for no shuffle
- There is also Shake to Shuffle in Settings>Music
If still problem:
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync all music and resync
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device. -
I've changed my account's country, address, and phone number because I've moved and my purchased apps (from previous country) does not appear anymore, how do I fix it?
That is the expected behavior. You will also no longer be alerted to any updates for that content.
If any of the content is sold in the new country's store and you find out through the grapevine about an update, you can update the content for free, but you will have to go through the steps for buying the update as a new purchase. Then the store will notice in the final steps that you own this content and update for free. It is the end of the road for any content from the previous country that is not sold in the current country's store. You will not be able to update the content in the new store. -
I have tried to do the standard recovery mode where you hold down the home button and plug in the USB but Itunes is not recoginizing the phone. How can I fix this issue?
Hello there, Itraziel.
Thanks for providing further clarification on your issue. The following Knowledge Base articles offer up some assistance depending on which Operating System your computer is running:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1538
or
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1591
If you are still unable to restore the iPhone, this article may provide some more information:
If you can't update or restore your iOS device

Use recovery mode
Recovery mode erases your device and restores it, which should resolve the issue. If you previously synced with iTunes or iCloud, you may be able to restore from your backup after recovery.
Turn off your device. If you can't turn it off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time and wait a few seconds for it to turn off.
Plug the device's USB cable into your computer only.
Hold down the device's Home button as you connect the USB cable to it.
When you see the Connect to iTunes screen, release the Home button. If you don't see this screen, try steps 1 through 3 one more time.
iTunes should open and display a message such as: "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes."
Use iTunes to restore your device.
Thanks again for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

I recently updated to the iOS 7 on my iPhone 4. The majority of apps say they are "waiting" are are not useable. This has been the case for three days. I have tried to turning my phone on and off, and that has not helped. I have also connected to the internet in different locations thinking that it may be the speed, but this has not helped either. How can I fix this problem?
Can you delete the apps and try re-downloading them, one at a time?

i lost my iphone and reset it all through find my iphone and after locating it and getting it back i can not turn the phone back on how can i fix this
Unless you had enabled Find My iPhone on it before it was lost then there isn't any way to locate it (it can only be turned on directly on the phone, it can't be done remotely). If you did enable it then you could try locating it either via http://icloud.com on a computer or Find My iPhone on another device - but that will only work if it's connected to a network and the device hasn't already been wiped and/or Find My iPhone disabled on it.
If you think that it was stolen then you should report it to the police. You should also change your iTunes account password, your email account passwords, and any passwords that you'd stored on websites/emails/notes etc. -
I don't think I back uped anything. I assume it was already going to do that like most times..
I downloaded and updated the phone with the iOS6, but then an error occurred saying that the phone can't be updated. It then turned into recovery mode and suggests that the only way to use the phone is if I restore it.. which I really can't do! I still have lots of photos..
Please, I regret not having backing up just in case, but is there any way to somehow 'undo' the recovery mode and bring it back to normal (regardless of which iOS it has)? Please, I really would appreciate a solution, any solution.
Thank you. What's wrong with you guys.. you must ALWAYS back it up before anything major like this.
If it's not too late, and i do not know if this will work or not.. but download something like TinyUmbrella or any program that will allow you to kick it out of Recovery Mode and back to regular. May or may not work but worth a shot. -
Ipod is stuck in recovery mode I have restarted my computer and I have updated itunes ...Help

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I tried to update my iPhone 5 this morning with the new software update. Now my phone won't turn on. When I plug into iTunes, it says that my phone is in recovery mode and that it needs to be restored to factory settings. Is there a way to fix this without losing my settings? Why would this happen on a software update?
Zach Doody wrote:
itunes says i cannot update the phone as it is in recovery mode.
That is not what it says. Read the message again. It's telling you it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode and it must be restored.
Restore it. You don't have a choice at this point. -
Ive changed the DNS server on my pc, tried R,ec boot Tiny umbrella , had to use Total saver to recover my photos etc , but no idea how to change my iphone from a paperwight back into a phone, it just keeps saying the apple update server is unavailable.
Its a normal phone nothing done to it , was just updating the software when it went into recovery mode.
Ive pressed start and home buttons togerther , switched the phone off and on , switched the pc of and on and made sure i have the most recent version of itunes.
What next any ideas, thanks?Hi there...
Actually I was stuck with this situation yesterday. Here is what I did to overcome this issue: I hope it helps.
To start with, here are few things to you should make sure of:
1- You have the latest version of iTunes. You may try to uninstall and reinstall iTunes.
2-Restart your Windows.
If still no luck, try editing the Hosts file, here is how;
1- click on RUN then copy and paste the following:
notepad c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
2- look for gs.apple.com
3- if there are numbers infront of it just delete them or just type # before the numbers.
4- Save the file and try restoring again.
Note: you should have administror access to edit the Hostes file.
put your iphone in DFU mode before restoring.
I hope this helps. It did for me
